How do you choose your haircut?

Mine was partly chosen because of the shape of my head and what suited me. But also because I couldn't be bothered dealing with my hair any more, therefore I shaved it.

Let me tell you: Shaving your head that short is a nerve racking experience. You have no idea if it'll look good and if it doesn't then you're pretty much fucked for a while.

Four on the sides, 6 on top and keep the bangs so I can style it a bit.

It took me 20 years to perfect this.

Yeah. I look better when my hair is a certain length and with a bit of a fringe. I tend to just shave it all off though and let it grow. It eventually gets to a certain length where it looks good.

Also I hate the word 'bangs'. Just sounds so odd to me. It's probably just because I am not used to it though.

i use japan and anime as inspiration for my hairstyles because in terms of fashion and looks they are at least 20 years ahead of us.

shaved head - 10 dollars

everyone i grew up with, shaved heads... i really need to find a new hair cut, im 30

I made an appointment at some relatively fancy place (in comparison to the usual barber) and asked the stylist what he thought I should try. It worked out ok, although I am either incompetent or I keep buying the wrong kind of hair styling products, because I can never get it to look how I want it.

3 on the sides and blend the top so I can style it.

I have been going to the same guy for 10 years, I even make a 45 minute drive just for the haircut. No one else gets it right.

The clippers they use to shave your head cost like 30-40 bucks. You could have saved yourself a lot of money by doing it yourself.

I usually get a 4 on the sides and back, with a scissor trim on top. I'm still trying to find that stylish cut that hides or at least draws attention away from, my receding hairline. :/ lol

Size 1 (1/4"), and go to town. No fade, and barely any line-up work. I cut my own hair. I wish I had some manageable hair like a Caucasian, but I'm stuck with a nappy mess. Though, I will say, I'm glad to see flat tops making a comeback!

I was aiming for something like Jensen Ackles in Supernatural.

Hah i tend to go for a Sam from supernatural style (later seasons obviously) as i have long hair.

I'm lucky as my friend is a hairdresser so i get my cuts for free as she doesn't like taking money from friends so payment is always in the form of drinks when we go out.

This post, combined with your avatar really cracked me up!

I pay $30 to not have to think about such a thing. That's their job. I give them their monies they make me look good.

And you have to fit it to your head.

+1 non gay crush on Beckham's ability to look fucking boss with a fauxhawk or fauxhawkmullet.

If I could figure out a way to do this and still be as ugly as I am I would do it.

Actually that's pretty easy to do. Just hire a stylist to travel with you and cut your hair every 48 hours. Of course you could just be one of the many that cuts their own hair and think it looks as good as his.

I used to visit a hairdresser every few months. But now I find it far easy (and cheaper) just to go for a buzz cut. Grade 2 all over.

I crouch on bathroom floor and do it myself for free. I wake up in the morning and never have bed hair.

I will never go back to having a "hair cut" again.

Started to regularly get buzzcuts back in HS (almost 10 years ago now) and I haven't looked back since. Just buy a shaver and get to work every few weeks. Save money, save stress worrying about what to do with your hair and look good.

Do guys here never realize how much a sexier a proper haircut can make a girl look? And do you think you are immune to this?

I tend to change my hair style every now and then. I hate to stay with the same for more than 1 year. I mean, its just mall variations, but it helps. Sometimes its drastic, but its mostly the way I style my hair, not the cut. First of all understand what type of hair you have and see what you can do with it.

Then find several hair styles you like and ask the person who will cut the hair, which one would fit your hair type and why. Ones you learn that, go for that. If you really want a specific hair style you must ask him what you can do to achieve it, if they tell you it's impossible. Then reevaluate your choice.

But try new stuff, unless you try them, you won't know you will love it or hate it. Worst case scenario, you will end up using a cap. lol

So I ask him to do something that would change from my usual non-hairstyle.

This is what he came up with :

And you even get to see my socks.

In all honesty I don't know, it's just to different from how I am usually to say if I like it or not.

ONCE A YEAR?! Wow. I cut my hair every month, fine tuning it etc.

EDIT: I fine tune it myself. I don't pay anyone to do that shit

Surprised you didn't post the picture:

Last time I went I asked for it to be trimmed at the back but to keep a bit of length on top. I put a bit of trust in the lass cutting my hair and I think it came out fine. Might need to find a good photo so I can just show it next time. And by last time I mean the first time HA HA...ha.

I've been cutting my own hair for 15 years. Just put a guard on the clipper and buzz it. I like short hair and it seems to suit me alright.

I couldn`t even imagine the afro I would have after one year. but my hair is very very thick and grows faster than a weed.

Every 13 days I get the same thing, triple zero on the sides and back one and half on top.
No maintance, easy to clean women really like it.

2 on the sides, scissor cut on the top to keep a bit of length and keep a fringe. Boring, but safe I suppose lol.

I have been giving myself harcuts for the last 10+ years.

They consist of using the machine with the #1 comb and going through all my head.

My hairlines allow me to do this without looking weird.

I'm going to have a haircut tomorrow at eleven, so in twelve hours now.

I usually go to the hairdresser once a year, sometimes even less.

Now I want to take better care of myself and that obviously goes through the hair.

I'm afraid to change radically yet I still want to and have no idea what to get.

How do you usually choose your hairstyle?
Do you keep the same one over and over?
How do you know if a certain hairstyle is going to look good on you?

I make it easy on myself and have a stylist who I trust to cut my hair in a way that is never "bad". He's been cutting my hair for 14 years now. Hair stylists are trained to know how your head is shaped, how your hair flows, and generally have a good sense of what works, more so than yourself to be honest. They can tell you when a hairstyle that you think looks "cool" wouldn't work on your own head.

I never have to tell him what to do and he's never done me a disservice. Occasionally he goes nuts and cuts out funky patterns in my hair that look pretty cool. Not a concern to me. This is just hair we are talking about after all. If you don't like it you can take more off or wait for it to grow back.

So you slag off hair:gaf and the fine work they do there and the get a cut that something the folks in there would reccomend. Good job :

For refrence
I tried but to no avail.

They are stuck in a loop where they post pictures of ridiculously handsome men with improbable hairstyle..

I used to have waist length hair, and always received compliments on it from everyone. I took good care of it and it showed.

Now I shave my head with a buzz cut at home. So much more comfortable and easy to take of.

I was a bit ironic. Don't worry I don't hate hair GAF.

And I didn't "ask", I just said do something that change.
