How I got banned from Akaicon

all I can say to this thread

I didn't. A lot of akaicon staffers are kinky and/or are on fetlife. It comes up way more often that this thread would have you believe for a "family friendly" con.

...which means absolutely nothing. It's still not appropriate for the "workplace" even if it's a volunteer event like a con.

There's a standard of behavior that should come with any leadership position. You didn't follow that behavior. You were then asked not to participate.

Not that hard to understand when you take the subject matter out.

You asked for sex?

Sex is not like asking someone a favor. You sound insanely creepy.
Sex is a complex, mostly intuitive act that happens when two consenting adults are extremely attracted to eachother. It's not like popping a yes/no question.

And could you imagine them not being interested in a suicidal depressed loner with abduction fantasies that just bluntly asks for sex unsollicited? You need to work on your social skills big time, as in, professional help.

Blunt but pretty much this. I don't think I have ever 'asked' straight up for sex. Hoo-doo explains this well. I could see people being made very uncomfortable by such an approach.

Well, that's kinda how I treat it since I don't really have emotional attachments.

They were already discussing kinky stuff. But it seems that the stuff I was talking about was too kinky for them.

Other guy: So I was frenching this new girl the other day...

You: ...Speaking of frenching, I can only get off to the sound of out-of-key French horns blaring in the background while simultaneously getting punched in the nuts. See, fellas, we're all so similar! Let's bond. Who wants to have sex with me? Guys? Awwww everyone left again.

How kinky were they speaking? Because to vanilla people, handcuffs is 'kinky'. While to me that's intro level stuff. I'm not going to divulge my interest in kinbaku to somebody because they said they liked being cuffed to the bed once.

Okay. That might be how you view it, but to the vast majority of people, it's a loaded and often complex subject. Being so upfront and deadpan about it is creepy. Don't mean to rag on you too much, just trying to make sure you understand this. Your approach is making this so much worse than it otherwise could be (well, at least for the basic stuff. I don't know how the fuck to approach something like abductions and horse sticks and stuff).

OP it sounds like you need to work hard to recalibrate your understanding of social norms. I get how easy it is to become absorbed in a bubble or echo chamber when you're socially isolated, but don't let the internet completely destroy your mind.

Therapy might be the way to go. Someone will listen to you and help you get perspective without judging you.

the general populace considers anal to be extremely kinky. what you're talking about goes above and beyond even what most S&M are comfortable with. rapeplay is not common, even on places like fetlife

So have we decided if this thread makes anime cons more or less appealing? Pro: there's a kinky underbelly apparently. Con: they might not actually be all that chill.

Did you ask random people or someone who was attending the con while you were a director or did you ask someone you were supervising/working with?

As far as I remember, these were people who haven't even been to the convention yet but are as they put it "good friends" with the convention chairman.

Yes, I understand this now. Like I said, I only did it twice like...ever. When I was in a really bad space. Not that that excuses my behaviour. On a private forum even.

Ugh, just not appropriate. The key is knowing when to get naughty and when to keep a lid on that shit. You got kinks, that's fine but you gotta understand people may "seem" accepting at first but especially at the workplace they'll feel uncomfortable deep down and run and tell HR.

Learn a lesson at your next job: Never shit where you eat. Or talk about how you enjoy shitting or ask a coworker to shit with you. Keep your kinks private or in a specific community that allows the open sharing/discussion of kinks.

This my be a deeper problem than you realize...

I like to talk porn and shit with my co-worker, but no way in hell i'm going to tell them about everything. You probably crossed the line somewhere. Maybe they just want to talk about your everyday kink...

But if you look around at people in the world and have consumed any mainstream media since... ever, the majority of people aren't that way. So unless you're 100% positive you've found some like-minded person to have a romp with, someone reacting badly to your proposition is completely expected.

You don't need to fit into the world's mold of what is considered "normal", but when you're on the clock or relating anything to work people, reel it in and be cool. Your next job will go far better if you do, promise.

The main thing I've learned from all of this is that anime is wrong

As someone who sold animated porn to every freak and geek in the Inland Empire CA, I can say... you're kinda right, but not really? Worst thing I heard was, "if you've seen one tentacle rape, you've seen them all."

Well sex doesn't just pop up out of nowhere. There has to be some communication about it. You don't just do it. That's rape. You get to know someone and one day ask them. I guess I just didn't know these people well enough? My bad.

I'm not finished with the thread, but WHAT? That's not how sex works lol. Maybe the crowd you are running with has fucked you up socially. I'm not gonna make buddies with someone and be like, "can I sex you?" lol

Which is why I never ever ever talk about it. I must've been drunk or really comfortable or something. I didn't drink from February to November last year, so I'm leaning more towards I was in a comfortable situation. One that I probably misjudged.

OP you need to watch some workplace training videos as well as get off fetlife (you're not having sex anyway) and interact with more typical people in real life and not on the internet.

Do: Talk about your weekend and the local sporting events that took place during said weekend

Don't: Talk about your desire to pretend to rape people
