How I learned to stop worrying and love PC gaming

Pretty sure he'll play GTAV even if later and MGSV is not ruled out for PC.

Have fun playing Total War games on consoles, ARMA III, DayZ, Company of Heroes 2, Dota 2, Europa Universalis IV, Starbound, and the list goes on...

None of those games sound appealing at all... would rather play MGSV over all of those combined. And I doubt it's coming for PC

Will people ever learn?
OP, you don't brag publicly about being happy with your PC. Never.
Because that makes a lot of people very over-defensive and irrationally angry at you and then you have five pages of "But what about The Last of Us, UH?"

Good luck playing games like Last of Us, GTAV, Beyond 2 Souls, FFXV and MGSV on your PC

Have fun paying 300 for a newer graphics card and maybe a better processor every year or two

Have fun sitting on your cough w/ a keyboard and mouse on your lap

Have fun keeping your PC in your room and connecting it to a living room TV

the price you pay for a console = convenience, comfort and better games

Pretty weak attempt at trolling.

I'd love to see the master race term die. I'm a huge proponent of PC gaming, though. It's a platform with intrinsic benefits that can't be found in any closed system environment.

PCs and consoles are good at doing their own thing. I'm down to play RTS type games on a PC as much as I'd like to play couch co op games on a console.
The whole 'PC is mustard race because consoles need to ketchup' thing is good too.

Enjoy.

I only play Tekken on consoles these days. PC is where I do most of my gaming, I'm also not as excited for next-gen like I should be. But I'm buying the PS4 for my brother.

Says who?

Also Kojima said they're planning to release "something" on PC eventually, so we shouldn't rule out MGS completely.

The day HL3 is announced is the day I build my new gaming PC. Until then...

And not a single fuck was given that day.

Lol and what has he put out this gen of worth besides Portal 2? I love the way people think the sun shines out of Gabens arse.

Yes, most sane people can agree with the whole master race / superiority complex is pathetic. It's entertaining to poke fun at, rile people up with but that's about it.

What I do find pathetic is the responses from the opposite end of the spectrum. Some sad post lists a bunch of console exclusives? "HAHAHA u won't get any of these!!11", list a bunch of PC exclusives "AHAHAHA I don't care for RTS, FPS, MMO, Simulators and all that HAHAHA". However that seems to be given a free pass. If someone did it the other way around? Holy shit, watch out for the waterfall of posts.

The console zealots are just as bad as the PC zealots.

You dont really need to upgrade your PC as often as you are saying. The longer I wait, the more difficulty games have with running smoothly or on higher settings, but the same thing is on the consoles. The progression nowadays is a bit slower.

And you also can just connect a controller to your PC if you want to go the TV route. The living room thing might be a problem, but I suppose you also have that with consoles if you want to go play those in the room. Sure you can move it, but it is not that easy. You could do the same thing with a PC and I am sure there are other solutions.

And for all the people here saying that for the exclusives you want to go consoles, you are ignoring that the PC has plenty of exclusives. Sure, there are not many exclusive titles with a big budget, but there are probably a larger number of exclusive titles on the PC, many of which are more fun imo.

Lol and what has he put out this gen of worth besides Portal 2? I love the way people think the sun shines out of Gabens arse.

...wut.

I get people saying Valves (game) output is not on par, and even though I disagree it is absolute bollocks to say that he has not put out anything of worth this gen except for Portal 2.

Besides the other games (HL2:EP2, Portal 1, TF2, DOTA 2, Left 4 Dead series) the revival of PC gaming was non-existant at the start of this gen. Steam was only introduced with the release of Half Life 2, and it was not even meant to be a store back then.
A year later this gen started and over the years Steam had gained a huge amount of customers and it changed so much for PC gaming.

A digital future, convenient PC gaming, flourishing of the indie scene are all things that Steam has helped to build. And it has grown a huge amount this gen. I'd consider it to be the most worthy output of Valve this gen, and you dismiss almost everything they are doing.

jrpgs is really the only thing left on consoles that make me kinda want one... and japan devs can't afford to make games on ps4 anyhow so i'm betting most jrpgs will still be on ps3 for a long time (well besides 3ds/vita).

heck, japan seems to be more open with doing pc ports these days too. never would have expected naruto ninja storm to come to pc. Platinum's MGR revengerence is coming to pc. MGS5 is pretty likely to come to pc too. All signs point to FF15 probably getting a pc skew too.

It's a meme. More of a joke on how bad PC gaming used to be rather than promoting much actual superiority, in my experience. Funny that people managed to find something to take defense over, though.

Yep. It's a joke on how shitty PC gaming was not too long ago but people are taking it quite seriously all the sudden.

And the "But PC doesn't have console exclusives." crap, first: No shit. Second: Consoles don't have PC exclusives either... why else would they be called exclusives?

Seriously, about the 7990?

How much do you love it?

No lasting guilt? No trouble from partner?

For those who don't know it's about a grand (video card).

Don't think it can run crysis 3 at 120fps yet though, but it should be good for a while...

As someone who spends more time haunting the Steam thread than any other on GAF these days: can we make the "master race" meme bannable already? Please?

At 42, can't justify the outlay of the new consoles...£50 quid a game...£350-£450 initial hardware outlay...but what really killed them was the Steam sale - so many bargains at silly prices.
So what happened at 42 that you became cheap?

My PS3 is pretty much collecting dust these days. It's just easier (and prettier, and more fluid) to play games directly on the PC with a controller since I have it hooked up to my tv anyways. The problem are those few console exclusive games like MGS, FF KH and Destiny, which will make me have to buy a PS4 someday, but if you can live without that good for you.

Don't get why people are offended by the Master Race meme really, seems silly to me.

Who does this?

I paid $400 for a brand new rig a few years ago and it's going to last me a few more and when it DOES need an upgrade, it'll just a new video card, which might cost $150 or $200 for what my needs are. But I doubt I'll need a new card even.

Wireless 360 controller, what is it?!

Have fun keeping your PC in your room and connecting it to a living room TV
My PC is in my room and connected to a living room TV.

Thirty foot HDMI cable, what is it?!

Lol and what has he put out this gen of worth besides Portal 2? I love the way people think the sun shines out of Gabens arse.

He put me in touch with a shitload of excellent games for less than the price of a Big Mac meal each.

The sun really shone out of his ass AFAIC.

I have a very capable PC with 200+ games on Steam and I'll tell you why I'm not a PC gamer.

Ease of access.

Why is every server for PC games modded in some way or the player limit set to beyond what the game is meant to be played at? Essentially breaking the game. Also, going into a new generation of consoles and even consoles in general (PS3) I'm much less likely to run into hackers.

Will people ever learn?

Its perfectly acceptable to showcase love for PCs - it isn't acceptable to use the term "master race".

Rather simple to understand, actually.

Going to own a PS4 to have access to console-exclusive titles. PS4 will be my primary system until a year or two after launch where I'll upgrade my PC to kick the PS4's ass.

haha look at this guy everyone!

So basically what you are saying is PC is only worthwhile if you like strategy games? :P
Well, that's a (limited but not necessarily false) way to put it.
I would take out the "only", by the way. It's *surely* worthwhile if you like strategy games (which I do).

On the other hand...
Good luck playing games like Last of Us, GTAV, Beyond 2 Souls, FFXV and MGSV on your PC
...what he's saying is that out of "FIVE BIG RELEVANT REASONS to own a console over a PC" three are very likely to come on PC, which makes his argument even weaker, and the other two interestingly enough are limited to a single platform, not a merit of consoles in general.

Couple things, when making an ass hole post like this. Ya know, just to make your life her a bit smoother.

1. Spell check. The only way to sit on a cough is when receiving some sort of cunnilingus from your partner and he or she getting an itch in their throat.
2. Fact check. Do people on PC actually pay for a new graphics card and better processor every year? Especially considering this last generation has lasted for almost a decade? Does that make sense? Do consoles actually have "better games?"
3. Make sure what your saying is something that, ya know, actually happens. Do people who play PC games on their lager television actually not have some sort of set up to use a mouse besides dragging it on their leg.

I haven't see this type of defensive posting since the beginning of last gen. Think before you type.

I like how NoctisLucis is single handedly ruining this thread completely with his 15 year old behaviour. How is that not bannable?

Yeah.. For, like, a fraction of the cost.. with mods.. at higher fidelity.. So, yeah..

A fraction of the cost is a load of bullshit. After a few months and during steam summer sales sure but the big AAA games are still the same price on Steam than on PSN and Xbox live.

PS+ is the best thing to come out of this generation bar none.

Cancelled my Xbone and PS4 pre-orders this morning.

At 42, can't justify the outlay of the new consoles...£50 quid a game...£350-£450 initial hardware outlay...but what really killed them was the Steam sale - so many bargains at silly prices. I love playing games on my PC, but only specific games...games like TF2 that require intense concentration that only a office chair can provide. Consoles allow a more ambient, almost movie like experience, best enjoyed on the sofa.

The solution.

360 wi-fi reciever. £20

3m HDMI cable.£5.99

Wireless Keyboard. - £35

£60 quid vs £350-£450 for my existing 8 gig Radeon 7990 setup. No contest really.

I don't know why I didn't do it sooner. Only thing left is to import my Xbox Skyrim save to the PC so I can indulge in some of those lovely mods such as Tropical Skyrim and the new fan expansion. http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-57594186-1/19-year-old-creates-incredible-skyrim-expansion/

Farewell consoles. But don't fret, your cash saved will go on my two week Orlando/Florida parks in May ;)

But how much did your PC cost, OP? I don't really understand your cost break down...

^ You didn't know? This is a 7990 brag thread. I don't mind.

lol...what the fuck

ass hooooole - where's that from? might be my younger cousin...damn my memory
