How many Direct2Drive games did you lose?

Wait... Now that I installed the client, I can't find a single game in Gamefly.

Not even SWAT Fucking 4.

edit: I can't even find SWAT 4 using the search bar. 1, 2 and 3 are there though! THANKS.

One of the D2D programmers did an IAMA on Reddit a few days ago about implementing the transition, so it might be helpful to try to message him and see if they're aware of the issues that are happening. But since he's on the D2D side, not Gamefly, I don't know much he can do.

F.E.A.R 3
CIV 5
Bulletstorm
BFBC2 Vietnam
NFS HP
NFS SHIFT
Dead Space 2
Crysis 2
The Witcher 2
Dragon Age Origins

I know there are others, can't think of them right now...

...fuck

Even though some of them are steamworks I still think it's pathetic...

( was wrong on sf4 )
A lot of that can go over to origin, in case you were wondering.

After reading all these horror stories, I went through my inbox and crosschecked my purchase history on Gamefly.

I have purchase receipt emails for both The Sims 3 and DCS: Black Shark, but neither of them show up on my purchase history or in the client. I have the key for Sims 3 in the email, so hopefully I can register that on Origin. No such luck for Black Shark though.

What a colossal fuck up. Not only did they decide not to buy licenses for games that people owned through the service, but they can't even get WHAT people had previously bought on the service right.

I'm seeing a massive class action hitting them.

IIRC on PSN and Live when a game is taken down from the store due to publisher issues you can still download it from your purchase history. They really need to sort this bs out in the next few weeks otherwise my belief in DD will forever be marred. I won't be as willing to buy from sites that aren't Steam, Amazon, or GOG anymore.

Problem is that they don't even show up in my purchase history, so I can't see the cd-keys -> can't add them to origin. I tried with crysis 1 and 2 but only 2 worked.

Enjoying the convenience of the DD future?

Well i remember a conversation with a person i had from the team of onlive here in NYC.. i asked him what would happen to all the purchases made using the service and the possibility of ever shutting down, his response is your in shit lake lol ever since i knew "downloadable" versions are a risk

Just what we needed. Someone to stir shit up.

much better to not be bothered at all by this incredible bullshit

guess what happens to my gog games when they shut down again

DUPLICATE (PC) <- I have no idea anymore what this is. I'm sure there isn't a game called "DUPLICATE"
I have this too, a £2.50 purchase just called DUPLICATE whatever that is. Out of the two games, plus DUPLICATE, which I own, precisely none of them are available on Gamefly. Granted a lot of people are much worse off than that, but losing access to any games this way is unacceptable. Nice way to ensure your existing customers will never use your service again, Gamefly.

Do you have their download client (gamespy comrade) installed?

No, but if they can't even find the instance of my CC purchase then they won't show up in the client I'm sure.

In my case my fallout new vegas serial key shows in the old D2D client but not in the Gamefly purchase history. I'll see if I still have the installer of that and put it on my dropbox for you.

3 of my 8 are available at the moment, it looks like.

Can download:
Command and Conquer 4 (regged on Origin already)
Star Wolves 3
Westward

Can't:
Arsenal of Democracy
Dirt 2
Empire: Total War (regged on Steam though)
Men of War
Titan Quest Gold

All of my purchases except 1 are gone. This... is pretty fucking bullshit. I mean, I already loathed the "digital future" but this is just delicious shit icing on a steaming pile of a cake.

So I grabbed the SWAT 4 install files before D2D went offline. Now I can't activate the game. Trymedia.com or activemark or whoever the fuck won't respond.

Time to look for a crack. I hope Gamefly gets hit with a class action suit.

What's the best service to share files besides dropbox? I'm afraid to hit some bandwidth limit with my DB account. I have the Comrade Gamespy client for you guys. You need to login with your old log in info though.

This, an apology and a compensation are the LEAST they can do.

Store credit in a service that you don't have much faith in is probably not worth anything.

They really should have just held back the merger until they got all the games sorted out. I don't see the point of buying direct2drive if you're buying the licenses as well. All you get is a bunch of pissed off users instead.

hope? lmao. I can make as many copies of the installers as I want. onto every harddrive, memorycard and usbstick. why would I ever lose them? hahahahahahahahahaha.

Yeah GOG's model is really good. The convenience of a one click download/install and allows users to store installers as they would a physical product.

Hope that you have the installer downloaded, and never lose it for some reason?

Really, despite evidence unfolding right in front of you you still think that allowing you purchases, or licenses or whatever quasi legal construct the transactions takes place under to be held hostage and access to them capable of being removed at a moment notice with no recourse is preferable to a tiny bit of personal responsibility? Worse than bloody children.

That's ridiculous. So even if people DID manage to back up their purchases before this happened, in some cases they can't even play them. This just gets worse and worse. Hope Gamefly get sued.

Well it's not letting me do the password reset thingy that is apparently mandatory to make my account usable on their new site, so I guess I lost all of them. Which is to say I lost one game, Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI. Searching for it didn't turn it up on the site anyhow, and it's a bit of a niche game, so I rather doubt it survived the transition.

Mmmm, I see my (few) D2D games in my purchase history now. Seeing "OLD" appended to the game title doesn't fill me with confidence, e.g.:

Neverwinter Nights 2 - OLD

Hey just found something out. DUPLICATE could be Ground Control 2. Is that possible?

No dice Des0lar? Have the games vanished from the Comrade client too?

No - (almost?) all games are still visible in Comrade. But now I found out that many more games are missing from my purchase history. Great. Condemned was one of them :(

Ground Control 2 is btw still available on their site... But apparently I don't own it anymore.

That's very possible, I know I was looking at buying Ground Control 2 from D2D when it was on sale a while ago, but I can't remember for sure if I actually did or not.

This had better be temporary...

The only cracked EXEs I can find for SWAT 4 aren't working. I don't know how this stuff works with all of the different DD services. Do I need a special executable for the Direct2Drive version?

What a terrible company. The only reason I went with D2D is because I couldn't find this elsewhere.

I THINK that might actually be related to how they released a Platinum version, and thus the other versions were delisted and marked OLD. I'll have to check if that applies to games other than NWN2. But yeah, if NWN2 doesn't pop back up I'm probably rebuying that on Steam once it hits five dollars again.

I can't imagine Crysis 2 and Blur and the like not being added back eventually. I downloaded their client and Manhunt 2 still shows up despite them not even fucking selling it since having taken over D2D. Regardless, I downloaded all the games that weren't Steam or Origin capable a couple weeks ago just in case and made text files with their CD keys in them. Hopefully they stick to their word and add mostly everything back, and send emails to people owning the games that won't be added.

Ah the client auto indexes other games that you have in your HDD. So some of those are not D2D. Only the ones that have serial keys are D2D games.
