How many people still keep a clock in their room?

With almost everyone having a cellphone, computer and a myriad of other devices that are also fully functioning clocks, how many people still keep a dedicated clock in their bedroom?

I've had one for several years, but right now I'm thinking of putting it away for good. It's basically a small, rectangular, black box with a red digital display, kind of an eyesore. I don't use it for the alarm anymore since my phone does that and after like a month or so it just ends up being a couple minutes ahead of regular time all on it's own. I have to manually change it every time daylight savings changes and it sometimes keeps me up when I'm having trouble sleeping since I'm constantly glancing at the time. My phone and my PC are here, both with better functioning clocks, so what do I need this one for?

I have a really small one that I got from Play Asia for pre-ordering Viewtiful Joe 2. It still works, and is small, and does it's job - if I wake up in the middle of the night I can see what time it is and then just drop back off.

I am jealous of those who have those Gako clocks though from MGS4. I wish I grabbed one when I could.

Clock does a better job than any of the devices you mentioned at, you know, telling me the time. Like when I wake up and shit.

I have this incredibly nerdy clock in my bedroom.

I just have a mechanical alarm clock. Its not polite. Its not quiet. It just WAKES THE FUCKING DEAD when I absolutely have to get up on time for something.

I have $4 wall clocks from Family Dollar in various rooms. They make a nice soothing tick-tock sound. When I sleep, I go back to the womb listening to my mother's heartbeat (that's the theory).

I keep a time-accurate alarm clock with an absolutely wretched alarm noise across the room from my bed, forcing me to get up out of bed and walk over to turn it off when I need to wake up for work.

It works
most times.

I can put my phone within arms reach or across the room, has a less obnoxious alarm that I can change willy nilly when I get bored of it, can set multiple alarms to automatically repeat at desired intervals or days, is never wrong, and automatically adjusts itself to daylight savings. I'm no clock connoisseur, but my old digital clock couldn't do all that (well except the placement).

Guess the advantage is that I can just glance at my clock for the time, but if I'm at the PC I can just move my mouse to the taskbar or tap my cell phone. That's very little effort,

Man, you guys are doing it totally wrong. Harsh alarm noises instantly put me in a terrible mood to start the day.

iHome with a custom playlist of pleasant songs to wake up to. But played at a volume loud enough to be effective.

Considering a large part of my job entails listening to the stupid bullshit of various people, I feel my alarm is good at preparing me for my day.

I'm considering getting one, because checking the time on your phone in the middle of the night is annoying.

My Mom's admiration for clocks kind of rubbed off on me I guess because I have 3 analog clocks on the wall in my room. One cuckoo clock that belonged to my grandparents, a clock with Roman numerals for the numbers, and a standard clock that has the wrong time because he batteries are low and I have been too lazy to put new ones in.

I need to be able to glance at a clock at night while half asleep without having to reach for a phone. And I need an alarm that's loud enough to cut through ear plugs.

For some reason I don't trust my phone's alarm or I'd forget to set/unset it. Hell if I'm leaving my PC on all night.

So what I have is an alarm clock across the room from my bed. Easy to tell if the alarm is on, even with my glasses off, as there's a dot that turns on when it's on. I have to physically get out of bed to turn it off, too, where my cellphone is next to my bed.

I didn't for the longest time but I bought one since it's nice to be abel to tell the time whitout checking your phone.

Why would you, in the wee hours of the morning after say, 4 hours of sleep, want to use the effort to reach over, find your phone, orient it, turn it and be (possibly blinded) by its bright light? With a clock you simply roll over and squint at the numbers.

i haven't had one for almost 10 years, my beef with the digital ones was even with a dimmer i still found the light distracting at night. i need a nicely designed analog one - i wish braun made some bigger ones.

I do, even though it's kinda useless. I'm pretty sure clocks will always exist in some way or another, it's cultural.

All those things you mentioned sound like they would wake me up which seems to be the goal in that situation.

I know a girl who has two giant analog clocks on her bedroom wall. They make both a very loud ticking noise AND are slightly out of synch. Oh the horror when I tried to sleep there.

One that projects the time on ceiling, otherwise my phone is my alarm. It is the best way so I don't get used to the alarm sound because I can always change it.

I've never heard that theory before, but that's interesting. For whatever reason, I like having a loud ticking clock in my bedroom too.

Keep a digital clock and radio combo on my bedside table. Fuck waking up and checking my phone or watch. Clock is convenient.

I have a clock radio that has an iPod dock on it, but it gets it's time from the wall outlet somehow, and it's always about five minutes slow so I don't use it for reference very often.

Anyone have experience with Philips Wake up lights? I kinda want one.

Had one, don't know if it's a regular experience but mine suddenly crapped out and kept turning on it's radio for no reason and couldn't switch it off, IIRC it was a year after I brought it...Before that happened it was quite pleasant to wake up to sunshine(even if artificial) in the winter =/
