How much better are you expecting GTA VI to be compared to GTA V?

GTA V was shit for me so I don't have my hopes up but I would hope that it's better by a good bit.

V is literally at the bottom of the tier list for me when it comes to GTA (I never played 1/2).

Not like GTAV was all that great. I don't think it can surparss IV, i expect same watered down physics, same restrictive mission design from V, and probably a bunch of unbalanced open world activites like RDR2

Honestly how much better or different can it be? Gameplay wise they can't afford to stray too far from what folks are used to.
So far we can only tell graphically, and since gta5 was pinacle of ps360 gen, gta6 gonna be most beautiful current gen, and definitive/next gen version will likely be one of most beautiful next gen games too so 3 gens of graphical progress vs launch gta5.

I haven't loved a GTA since San Andreas and that's mostly due to the tone in the writing, characters, and radio stations. I'm not opposed to a more serious tone like they attempted in IV and RDR2 gives me hope that they have the writing chops to do so, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

If they don't fuck it up i expect the driving being something between IV and V, the middleground.
Shooting will be improved (maybe even Euphoria Engine improvements)

After RDR 2 I have no expectations from this game. Just like that game they rely on graphic and nothing else to sell you on the game.

Much more detail
Better "fake internet"
Better tv content
More and better detailed side activities (flight school, scuba diving/hunting, Extreme sports, Uber rides Etc)
Better car handling/airplane aerodynamics
And most importantly Better melee and gunplay/feel

Not much honestly based on RDR.

I fully believe the world and environment interaction will be top notch. I do not think, though, this game will have detail like hitting a building with a buldozer or a rocket to a skyscraper and seeing it be rebuilt.

I think people need to take that 1 billion budget number out of their head - that's 100% not going into RAGE technology.

it has to be almost a completely different game in terms of design to even be on the level of being a decent game.

so I hope it will be massively better, but keep my expectations basically below the floor boards...

That would be nice. There was no reason to completely throw out the driving physics of 4 when they could have just tightened it up a little.

I bought GTA3, GTA4 and GTA5 twice (console and PC), but somehow never managed to play more than 5min of any of them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I usually end up finding a good radio station, driving as far into the country as I can, then seeing a) how far up a mountain I can drive, and then b) drive off the other side.

I've never been able to really get into it like I should.

I would already be happy if they improved the fucking controls and shit gunplay from RDR2. I don't expect them to improve on mission design or actual improvements in the open-world reactivity to the player's actions.

GTA V was pretty mid outside of the production values. (at least the SP, never played GTA online)
So hopefully quite a bit better.

Good gunplay and much less handy holdy mission design would be a big upgrade.

I expect the gameplay mechanics to be similar but huge improvement in the world details, npc interaction, animation and physics. 2 generations ahead, dev pedigree and the insane budget requires a modern day Shenmue moment. Anything less will be a huge disappointment.

I think the story will be stronger and the more emotional elements will hit harder. RDR2 was a noticeable step up in that department and while GTA will still be GTA, I expect some of that more emotionally nuanced writing to carry over.

Replayed RDR2 and GTA V earlier this year after having played and beaten each when they released. My opinion on each game completely flipped. I think RDR2 is a masterpiece and GTAV is pretty boring. So hopefully they taken their lessons learned from the better game.

Man, I guess I'm not alone in the dislike of GTA V like I thought. I tried to start the story at least 6 times but the tone and characters just suck.

Amazing that they came from the golden child GTA IV (in my opinion) to this. I really hope GTA 6 is a return to form. Especially with the physics and controls.

Way better in everything not just graphics.

Characters weren't that interesting and Trevor was trying too hard to be different.

Vice City is also a way more interesting and cooler location than Los Santos especially since GTA V's map was missing two other cities from San Andreas.

Gameplay, animations, and immersion are expected to be greatly improved.

Music might still suck since modern music tend to be bad compared to the old times but it was the same for GTA V anyway.

Online should be further improved this time around and hopefully more players per server.

After so many years people hate GTAV so it won't be something difficult to surpass at all, I personaly really loved the Deathwish ending and all the characters were cool in my book, but most people put GTAIV on a pedestal because "muh seriousness" so that's gonna be the real comparison, if it's more like V people will bitch about it, if it's more like IV it'll fare better

Huh? Modern GTA has always had music from multiple eras and genres. GTA V has a lot of great music from almost every genre. Even if you hate Rap/Pop there's at least 8 other genres to listen to, vice versa with any other genre.

It better be the best game ever considering it's taken them 11 years, they have 5000 employees, and they've spent a purported $2,000,000,000 on it.

I think we know how its actually going to turn out though.

By the time they milk it on the PS9 and what ever console exists, It'll be an incredible package.

that and Rockstar will issue 1 story DLC and move onto something else. like GTA VII for PS12

I expect absolutely nothing so if it's good it'll be a nice surprise. Didn't like GTA 5 that much apart from the tech obviously being really impressive, so to be good it'd have to be better

The story will probably be far more straight forward but will still have a convoluted flashback segment that ultimately destroys its potential to be comprehended by the tiktok brains of today. And the most fallout4 RPG eLeMeNtS ever.
