How much do you pay for gym membership

A trainer. And the gym is part of a bigger organisation, connected to the city's university. So that means free tennis, free martial arts, free rockclimbing at other locations. And a major discount on connected sports. Like paying $ 65 for six salsaclasses, two hours each. And since all of the employees have at least some sort of bachelors degree, the level is quite high. Great place to work, and work out.

Right on dude, sounds awesome.

Some of the people at my gym consider the $10 they spend a subscription to unlimited pizza once a month. They can't beat that deal.

I wish my gym had all that delicious carby food

It really fucking sucks when you know more about proper form and creating regimented programs to suit the need of a variety of individuals than the people they hire as trainers. I wish there was a better option around here.

Same set up (I presume yours is on peak access too?), for£14.99 a month. Just cancel the DD and I'm out if I ever need to.

I think it's 24/7. There's no time limit.

I'm struggling to understand this. Do they get free pizza at the gym?

I used to pay roughly $80 for my membership, but a new gym opened up a couple of blocks from where I live and now I only pay $25.

Gym memberships are pretty damn expensive here.

$25/mo, I got to a 24HR Fitness in Portland. It's alright. Most people don't seem to pick up after themselves in the free weight area, which is annoying.

I do miss my university gym though. I didn't understand the annoyance of re-racking weights properly because all the students were courteous about it, but once I got to my local gyms, weights scattered everywhere... =/

I honestly thought you were joking but a quick google search says otherwise. Unbelievable.

They come in for the pizza and leave, or the people who really don't need it walk over and have some. It's a pretty amazing study on how restraint correlates to fitness. The people you think would be over there are, and those of us who are in shape walk past it like its Invisible.

Meh, that's pretty much at every commercial gym. There's only one trainer out of 10 at my gym who squats and deadlifts. The others give you an annoyed look for deadlifting or stare at you for using the squat rack too long.

Oh well. I bust my ass when I'm there so they can deal

Paying ~30 bucks a month now in this new gym. You gotta pay for the whole year though.
But I finally have access to a decent rack.

I'm guessing it depends on the chain? Here in Holland even gym chains like fit-for-free, which used to have no squat racks at all, are improving. Mostly because the female squat craze is getting bigger and bigger. But it's not where it should be at yet. Weird to think though, more people squat than deadlift, when deadlifts get you a better ass.

I work for a GoodLife so I get my gym membership free....actually if anyone here owns a shop or knows a place where I can set up a ballot box I can get them a free membership too.......Food for though of course

The home gym is nice, but I just can't see the cost being worth it. It'd take me 8 years at my gym before I hit $2500.
It's more about the convenience. If you have the space and disposable income there's really no reason not to. Plus if you have an s/o to save a membership that doubles the value.

I have had a personal trainer for the last year that charges £15 an hour and he has his own gym in a log cabin at the back of his house. I go three times a week so comes to just under £200 a month. Great for me in many ways tho, I don't like public gym's, I always feel obligated to go (never missed a week in an entire year) and I get told exactly what to do to reach my goals, and we have a good chat.

He's gone up to £20 now but that doesn't affect me.

$27

But I haven't paid in about 2yrs since my son was born. Now I just work out at home and play racquetball 1x a week and basketball 1x a week. I'm not "gaining" but my weight has stayed down.

I'll sign back up in another year or so when I have free time after work again

$130 a month for my wife and I which includes childcare and an awesome indoor outdoor pool. Its lifetime fitness.

£50/month was actually one of the cheaper options for me, it was discounted from £85 because I was one of the first to join the gym. All other gyms in my local area are £110+.

It's a small gym, but I like it that way. 100 member cap.

Small gyms are the best, though. Those others sound way too expensive.

Mine gets a bit cheaper the longer your subscription is. Just renewed for three months and it was only €100, ten months is only €250.

$25/month. Used to pay $45/month when I lived in Chicago and went to an x sport. That place was way too big and crowded. Not a big fan of the combination gym/spa/tanning/etc.

100€ a year for full access to the universities' facilities. (like 5 minutes from where I live)

It has everything. Immense fitness facilities, free courses for every sport you can dream of, access to the swimming pool, racketball courts, tennis courts, rock climbing walls, personal trainers, etcetera.

I took up boxing classes just last week, it's fucking awesome.

$20 USD a month at Chuze fitness, but I never go. Since the weather is warming up, I've thought about cancelling the membership and renewing my membership at my local YMCA. It's more expensive, ($38/Month,) but they have a lap pool.

Now that is an awesome deal.

$21 USD per month. It's small, but tends to be quiet. There are lots of downtimes where I never have to worry about other people taking up benches or racks. Yesterday at 6pm it was empty entirely until the last 15 minutes I was there.

$70/month

Not many very many nice gyms locally, plus mine has 4 locations.

Cant complain, they have all the amenities and the place is great.

$10 a month at planet fitness, for all the hate it gets its just meh, i dont look at anyone and i just put my earbuds and listen to music while i work out
worth the $10 imo

a gym just opened up a minute from my home and they are charging $130 per month , shittttttttt thats a lot 0_o , am tempted to join next winter though since planet fitness is a drive and this is just a minute walk

~$2500 one time fee, $0 a month and zero wait for equipment.

Very nice! I've a similar setup though smaller scale. I have a platform and rack but no space for the extra equipment unfortunately.

$0 per month is the best thing ever.

$25 a month, no contract. They also never check when I sign in, so I usually end up getting more like 5-6 weeks per 25. It's gotten to the point where I actually have to ask them if it's time to renew lol. They have plenty of squat racks, they let me use chalk, they have never told me anything when I deadlift heavyish. The only annoying thing is that no one fucking repacks overnight, so when I go early in the mornings when it opens, the squat racks are a mess.

So I used to pay £38 for my local gym and barely went—I cancelled it and now I'm considering one in my local town centre: it's £15 a month but doesn't have great facilities and is usually jam packed, I might just go back to £38. Oh and I can cancel anytime lol.
