how much memory does the PS4 reserve for its OS?

I was at a conference with the lead programmer a naughty dog and he said they had 5 gb to work with and the rest was for the OS.

I remember it's 3 gb. 2 gigs for the OS to function, and one is actually for the games but as some kind of virtual memory if I'm not mistaking.

So the split is 6-2 right now.

Well, where are all the insiders? Surely they would have this info? Where's the guy who recently stated that Sony's new SDK yeilds a 10-100 x increase in tiling etc?
Where's the three Amigo's, Thuway, Cboat and FMort, surely they would have asked the question.

Somewhere in the range of 2-3GB. It's not a single fixed number since the PS4's OS is based on FreeBSD, which has automatic memory management features. A certain portion can be used by either the OS or the game, depending on what needs it at the time.

3GB sounds like it could be true. Even if it doesn't use that much now they probably need extra memory for the future.

Don't know if this is sarcasm, but this was already discussed to death many months ago. Again, no one knows for sure but seems like its 2 for the OS and 1 shared between the game and OS, rest is all for the game. That's what I remember.

what i want to know is how much can the browser use...can't even run peacekeeper without it telling me i've run out of memory.
