How much will this Holiday Season cost YOU?

Wii - $250
3 Wiimotes - $120
3 nunchucks - $60
Zelda - $50
Red Steel - $50
Excite Truck - $50
8 pack AA rechargable batteries $18?
2 battery chargers $14 each?

TRU deal with 3 games preordered = $30 off system - -$30
total with tax = $645.17

repeatedly smacking friends with wiimote while trying to hit a forehand in wii tennis - priceless

This'll be scary because I haven't calculated this out prior to right now, so let's see. Assuming I don't get any of the below for Christmas, I'll be spending (plus tax):

Wii: $250
Zelda: $50
Red Steel: $50
Classic Controller: $20
Wii Card : $20
FF12: $50
FF3: $35
PoR: $35
MGSPO: $40
Crystal Chronicles DS: $35

Total: $585

Holy mother of God. And that's just the must-have stuff. If I included the "games I'm interested in, but I can wait a little longer before getting" pile... I shudder to think of the beating my bank account would receive.

But what's awesome is that my entire Holiday wishlist still costs less than the PS3 :lol
That'll make me feel a bit better about not getting one for a few months... there's no way I could afford one.

Wii - $400
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - $100
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz or Trauma Centre: Second Opinion - $100
Red Steel - $100

A couple of 360 games (FEAR, GOW, maybe one other) - $200 - $300

= AU$1000

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Not much - already paid for the Wii and games/accessories. Not getting anything for the 360 - I reckon I'll be able to snap Gears of War up for about $AU50 by March. Rentals should get me through for 360 and PS2.

GTA: Vice City Stories, Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops for PSP and possibly Twilight Princess for the GC. If I get tempted by any DS stuff, I'll wait for the post-holiday sales.

Wii - 300$ (importing)
2 controllers - 80$ (importing)
1 nunchuk - 30$ (..)
Zelda Wii - 55$ (..)
Red Steel/Call of Duty 3(Wii) - 55$ (okay I'll stop doing that as I'm importing everything)
Trauma Center Wii/Excite Truck - 55$
Monkey Ball Wii - 55$
Gears of War/CoD360/Lost Planet - 40$
Custom Robo DS - 40$
Elite Beat Agents - 40$

No Christmas in jewland so..
Total ... 750$

Wii - 250
Zelda - 60
Wiigame - 60
Classic controller - 20
================
total - 390 euro

390 Euros = 496.50900 U.S. dollars

No decent job: about €100+ on Contact, Clubhouse Games and RE4 (GC).
Decent job: about €600+ on a Wii + Wii Play + Nunchuk + Monkey Ball + Red Steel + Excite Truck + the above.

figures in UK pounds, so double for US dollar rapage.

Wii - ÂŁ180
Zelda - ÂŁ40
Wii play - ÂŁ30

360 HDDVD add on - ÂŁ130

Call of duty 3 (xbox 360 or wii, not sure yet) - ÂŁ45

Gears of War ÂŁ40

total: ÂŁ465 (approx $900)

Already have ÂŁ750 saved up so I figure I'm saving money :)

Short version: I don't think it's fun to get games as gifts. I'd rather just buy what I want when I want it and not put pressure on my game-illiterate wife to get me the games I want to play..

same here. If I want it, I don't want to wait until some arbitrary future date before I can play it. And I know specifically what I want and have researched/price checked etc. So just giving a shopping list to a loved one isn't much fun.

And when you're old you don't get much spent on you (especially when you already spend lots on yourself).

So I just expect crap 'novelty' presents at Christmas.

its a great problem to have but man this years gona be expensive but its all for me :) Mmwaaa!

Gona play Zelda and check out the Wii over at my mates before I make that purchase

Heres mine:

* Viva Pinyata (The Chill game for after the FPS's) ÂŁ40

* & prob some new Arcade titles too (Small Arms etc..) ÂŁ20

* Tony Hawks 8 (hmm maybe im burnt out of Tony)
* Phantasy Star Universe (Gona have no time with all the games)

I guess I should say negative "press."

Be it 1up, Gamespot, IGN, whatever, people have been complaining about the controls.....Luke......hahaha, when he speaks of Zelda, it's just flat-out hilarious.

Just the controls and how, at least all the journalists that post impressions, are going to "wait and buy it for the gamecube instead."

I'll just wait for some solid forum impressions and reviews and if those are great, then I'll probably buy a Wii just to play this game.

I played Zelda at the NYC Wii Press con, and I thought the controls were spot on... There was someone playing before me who when trying to shoot the arrows literally had the wiimote pointed at the screen, like right on top of it. I actually had to tell him to stand back a few feet...

When I played it, I kept the controller at my waist, and was picking people off left and right... I found no issues with the control

$60 - Gears of War

Everything else will be a Christmas present. That is, if I can manage to wait that long to play Final Fantasy XII.

PS2
Guitar Hero 2 - $50
2 wireless guitars - $120
Capcom Classics 2 - $20
Genesis Collection - $20
Metal Slug Anthology - $40

GC
Zelda TP - $50

DS
CV:PoR (for the bonus) - $40

total - $340

360:
Gears of War - $50
COD3 - $52
HD DVD Addon - $200 (Still not certain about this one though)
Wireless Headset - $50

PS3:
Console - $600
Resistance Fall of Man - $60 (Not totally sold on this yet either. May get a few Blu Ray or HD DVDs instead)

GC:
Zelda - $50 (Not decided on this yet either)

Grand Total - Too much. :(

For myself:

Wii
Excite Truck
Super Monkey Ball BB
extra remote+nunchuck

$410 before taxes

As far as games as Christmas presents go, it works out pretty well for me. My wife's mother asks me for a list every year and that side of the family typically buys from that list.

On my list this year (gaming related):
Zelda TP
Rayman RR
classic controller
Elite Beat Agents
Yoshi's Island DS

Strangely (my parents not being all that into games since Colecovion) my mom said that she thought a DS and Brain Age would be a good present for my dad this year, and that she and my sister would go in on it. Apparently he read about it in an AARP article. So this morning I picked him up an Onyx DS Lite, Brain Age and Clubhouse Games.

not this holiday season, but next march:

PS3 (incl. 2 games): Euro 599
Sony KDS-55A2000 : some Euro 2000
