For the most part regarding games I play,.I'm going to remember it for a lot of crybabies, whining, nerfing and patching to cater to the masses.
As the true golden age of gaming, especially by the ones who rose up in this time.
The age of digital games for consoles. XBLA and, to a lesser extent, PSN and WiiWare/Virtual Console took off in a big way.
Cover based shooters, motion controls and DLC.
A generation of consoles where the JRPG games has died in... with so many great franchises from Japan.
As the true golden age of gaming, especially by the ones who rose up in this time.
HD Shooters
Online multiplayer
?
Oh yeah, plus HD remixes. We can't make games anymore so... HD REBOOT, SON!
as the worst one yet.
Wut..
When it comes to fanboy wars and negativitiy, i agree. I've never seen such much negative talk in another console generation before, but i wasnt really much online on forums back in the previous generations, so that probably explains why i have this experience in this console generation.as the worst one yet.
The end of clear-cut 'generations', probably.
I think that this is pretty generalizing. In every generation, many developers put a lot of hard work into their games, trying to make it as good as possible. Games have become a lot more expencive, so the risk is a lot higher. That is why the business model also changes, trying to minimize the risk. It doesnt necessarily have to be about greed. The "money over everything" generation
Back in the days, they at least tried to seem like they want to put a smile on your face with their products.
But now they don't even hide their greed. It's such a aggressive industry right now with DLCs, pre-order bonuses, special and collector's editions, etc.
So many fucking studios closed down. So many bad and most importantly uninspired games came out. So many stupid peripherals and hardware addons.
I'm really scared at where the industry is directed.
It's a shame because I think JRPGs have done good things with combat systems. It's just everything else that sucks. The gen themusicJRPG died.
This generation gave life to...
-DLC
-the rise of cinematic garbage
-online gamin'
I'm honestly surprised no one in this thread has tried to claim most games this gen were sub-HD with a nauseating framerate.lol at all the negativity in here. The "gamer on the internet" negativity is something that will definitely be remembered this gen.
There were definitely some bad things this gen but I don't get how ones can say that the gen was bad as a whole.
The gen themusicJRPG died.
I managed to buy 65 of them this gen so far. Granted 46 are on handhelds.
jrpgs are nowhere near dead. They just returned to the same niche status they had before the PS1.
