How would you rate your looks

I have a hard time rating myself...

lololol

I'm in between a 9 - 10. I have pics posted in the depths of GAF, plus my thumbnail pic for those curious few. Maybe I'll post a modern picture later.

I'd give me a 6 at best, probably a 5. A 4 if I don't shave and cut my hair short regularly. I'm not that bad face-wise, but I'm 163cm tall and male and takes some points away. shrugs

Were people always this vain or do you think the proliferation of cameras has anything to do with it? I know I'm good looking but the idea of taking a selfie and uploading it anywhere, never mind on a videogame forum, makes me cringe. Especially the false modesty thats used to compliment fish.
Fake edit: nevermind I am a piece of shit too I used my face as my avatar once.
Also the idea of a numerical rating system is hilarious

Previously an 8 when I was still doing Judo. I turned to a 6 because I put on weight.

My 8 is pretty relative on my country though if we're including height cause I'm pretty short in the world's standards.

A really good looking... 6
With a personality that makes me a 8 if said person is into me
.

I have zero muscle, skinny, but I carry myself with confidence. Definitely don't bother working out.

In the summer, with a natural tan, I'm a 7

I would say I'm a 7 to 8 from what other people have told me. I grew up with low self esteem, though, and would normally see myself as a 5 to maybe 7 otherwise.

Why when I was their age, we would have to take a picture with a 35mm camera, hope the picture came out alright (since we had no way to know, of course), take the film a development lab, get it developed, take the photo to a computer lab, and scan it in.

Of course, some people got those Polaroid instant cameras. But even then you still had to get the picture scanned in.

Let me tell you, much fewer teenagers taking pictures of their penises and breasts back then.

Now get off my lawn.

We are as vain now as we've always been. Before the advent of photography, the human race was much oilier.. so much so that you could often see a crystal clear reflection of yourself in the greasy foreheads of others. People would often feign close proximity conversation just to celebrate their own image. Because of global conditions, we as a species began to eat less fish and almonds and as a result our shiny membrane-mirrors began to wane.

To preserve our vanity, we invented the camera. The original patent actually includes a proto-selfie stick.

3.5, even in my best shape I was barely a 4. It's OK though, some people are going to look good and some of us are going to be subpar. NBD, doesn't bother me.

terrisus I have never seen a picture of you but I always have imagined you have a really strong, manly beard. Can you please confirm deny this.

Everyone I saw here looks 6 and above to me so I don't know why everyone is saying: shit/10
6 and above, depends on my hair, beard and my weight

I think you would look much better with a more trim beard honestly. Not a bad looking guy.

Oh hey thanks! It's got another 1/2" on it from that picture til now. I've been debating whether I should halve it or trim it almost gone. It's not an easy decision.

There's always been vanity. If 50 years ago there would have been smartphones and cameras like today and the internet, people would have taken lots of selfies too. I guarantee that. This is isn't exclusive to the newer generations. It's human nature.

Well, right now I do, because I don't have to worry about keeping it clean for work or anything.
When I was working, I basically had to shave immediately before going to work, otherwise it grew too quickly and they would complain that it looked sloppy.

Plus, my wife says that I look too young without a beard.
So, for right now at least, I do have a decent beard.

I'd say 6.5/10

Sometimes I feel that number is higher, but other days it's much lower.

This is how I feel about my appearance and not how I may objectively rate it.

I used to be fat. It has an effect on how you see yourself.

I know how you feel...I used to be about 100 pounds heavier than I am now and I am still heavy. Now I feel bad saying that to you, apologies.

I rate myself around a 3 but I feel my face is just rather ugly for the most part.

We get self confidence threads so often on this forum it feels like. I don't know, I'd say say I'm average most of the time 5/10, with glimmers of looking better here and there. Inoffensive and approachable is my MO.
a woman at work said i looked 'like top gun' today. so either i look like a young tom cruise or a sweaty val kilmer with homoerotic overtones. or something inbetween.
I definitely got the homoerotic overtone vibe from you.

I'm curious about this. How long does it take to kind of adjust your own mental image of yourself? I've lost about 60lbs with another 50 or so left to lose and looking in the mirror I think I still look like a fat sack of crap, even if people around me say otherwise.

Terri posted a picture before and he is way too hard on himself. You're a good looking dude, Terri. Those glasses you were wearing were impressive levels of thickness.

I'm sure that for some people, they are a 9/10. Beauty is subjective :p

I'm intrigued. What do you mean by that? o:

This is at me, right? What I meant is I have a degree (in biochem), I'm nearly done with a second in mechanical engineering, own a house, high paying job, own a couple nice cars, no debt etc. etc. I'm still in my 20s. I feel like I'm doing well and it gives me an extremely high level of confidence.

I saw a lady walking at the park yesterday. She was overweight but had clearly lost a TON of lbs. She had the HUGE person arm swing going on... She was swinging her arms to clear her old frame, but because she's smaller, it just looked bizarre.

I chose not to say anything about it to her.

I get told otherwise as well and I still feel massive....I lost a lot of weight 5 years ago though. I was heavy for a long time and it really messed with my confidence so I might be worse than others.
