Unless they started selling at the discounted price yesterday (I was the first one in the store at opening but they still had the old prices listed) then there's no way that they sold any.

So whatever the inventory was is what there is... Of course the damn employees all probably bought the thing out if they knew what was coming but then again most of them are clueless 18 year olds that had no idea what was going on.


I'll let you guys know what happens.

It's also possible people bought them anyway because they can get the difference refunded to them the next day.

That's what happened at the first Staples I went to yesterday. At 9am YESTERDAY 10 dudes were already there and bought all of them at full price.

Don't forget Radio Shack, guys. They sell them, and as of yesterday when I checked had not marked them down. Might be worth checking out if they were marked down this morning.

Tell me about it. I'm going in when they open to pick it up and they better PM, the site and release said they would. But I don't even know after all the trolls they've been pulling with this in the past 24hrs.

I'd say it's very likely, I doubt they sold all their stock at full original price before they pulled then down yesterday... BUT once/if they start selling them again, they will be gone within minutes no doubt. So unless you plan on refreshing their page all day, your chances are slim.

Ok, dude in front of me is a best buy employee, according to him they were told to pack them all to send them back to HP and it wasn't til 6pm that they were told that they would be putting them on sale
 
Fucking hell. I missed another sale on these. I'm beginning to think that I'm cursed.

Gonna head over to Best Buy soon. Hopefully I can get there in time to still get one.

They did come out and say that the accessories are full price, that no online order will be confirmed only first come first served
 
Did HP pull the plug on this too soon? Could they have salvaged it with a modest price drop and better advertising? The holiday season is around the corner and all.

How many units did HP manufacture? Wondering what the worldwide installed base would be when it's done with..

A woman came out and said all the stores were sold out in Boston. Well I ordered two online so I should be grateful for that.

The only reason I bought one was because it was so cheap.

That said, it is quite odd that they pulled the plug on these things after a month and a half with such a drastic clearance price. Why they didn't knock them down to $300/$350 and then $200/$250 on their way down to the current price points is beyond me. Though, I guess it's possible that retailers simply wanted them out of the way as we head into the holiday season.

I hope, though it's doubtful, that some App-Makers see the huge boost in userbase mixed with the relatively meager offerings on HP's App Store as an opportunity to sell their wares.

Oh Im selling two for sure as soon as I get em but if there isn't anything concrete on the whole porting android over front, then I will offload 'em on Ebay seeing as how Amazon won't let you sell it one their site.

They didn't even wait or advertise in prep for the back to school season. Their loss, our gain!
 
Dammit just got back from Staples, I was only one waiting outside the store and another guy in his car. Clerk opened the door and said they were all sold out since yesterday besides the display model which is going back to hp..... Website said they had low stock. Hopefully he didn't just set a bunch aside for himself and tell me they were sold out.

Might try hhgregg which is next to best buy, they open in an hour.

I have already installed preware and used the speed patches on mine. Great little device. I own an ipad but I could not pass this up at these basement prices.

The fourth one I was going to blast away and boot straight into a lightweight debian kernel and use it as a ssh server.
 
Damn it, I'm contemplating leaving work to a staples near by to try and snag one for $50. But even if I was lucky enough for them to have stock I know there's gonna be other people there. If anyone has any success getting one for $50 let us know!
