HP Discontinues webOS (Widespread $100 TouchPad sales)

Sweet, my BBY.com order is in process of being fulfilled, so I'm getting at least the two I need even if HP Small Business cancels my order. My work here is done.

I could have gotten a lot more yesterday. If you have a sams business card you get in 2 hours early. However, they only had the 32 gbs. The deal is not nearly as good on those models. 50% on top of the price for 16 GB of memory no thanks.

The 16 GB model is a downright steal.

Sounds like a greedy reason to me. But whatever floats your boat.
The other 2 are gifts. Before you accuse me of being greedy you should read my response.

A woman came out and said all the stores were sold out in Boston. Well I ordered two online so I should be grateful for that.
Not surprising. I considered going to the Landmark Center store, but I convinced myself not to. I guess they really were selling them yesterday afternoon.

Why would you do that? said:
I guess I'm in crazy/desperate mode right now. I'm downloading Firefox right now.

I need to take a break. :( I had such a huge relief when I got the store pick-up at Best Buy yesterday, but they cancelled... All I want is one of them. :(

I'm curious as to what will happen with mine. It's charged, but it is still checking instore inventory. This is an instore pickup order. I might just go to BB when it opens and buy one and cancel the order if it isn't confirmed by then.

I'm in the same boat. I'm pretty sure that they will magically have zero inventory by the time the order finishes processing.

I have yet to address you because I honestly don't care what you do. Do you think you are the only one who bought more than on? Stop thinking everything is about you.

I will however say that since you are determind to make this about you, your reasonings still sound off. But do what you want, why do you even care what someone thinks. Maybe you are questioning your actions before I had even commented on people who are buying shit loads of them?

Have not seen such a response to a deal in a while. It's like Black Friday in August. The tears are flowing.
Tell me about it.

For 100 dollars this is great hardware. Being a PhD Student who does research specifically in the embedded systems space, these are some great little devices to develop on.

You can get a debian environment on here easily. Sadly, the other 2 devices I have are going as gifts. I need to find another one for myself before its all over.

You kept begging for me to tell you what I thought about your purchases. When I never quoted you in the first place. I see how you say I'm trolling as a last ditch effort. Nice.

Using 3 different browsers...All running like shit =(
I used four last night and my only success was with firefox. Getting the item to stay in your cart is the hardest part. Once you get past that step, refresh button and patience are your next two best friends until you get it.

I thought you were buying three for your friends' kids.

You already expressed your opinion.

I don't see the point of getting three. Bleh

I was refuting it.

I just read on SlickDeals (although I don't know how credible it is), that online pickup orders are claiming inventory first. This could potentially be good for us.

This is a consumer moment. There is no room for altruism with this. That's the point of sales like these. Get the stock out by any means. Resellers aren't evil, they're just looking for a dollar like anybody else. If there is no policy in place to prevent multiple purchases, just relax and deal with it. They'd implement something like that if they actually cared about consumers.
If that was true BB wouldn't have the tablet at full price the entire Saturday and then say that there are none instock at the store.

indeed. i need to get out of this thread. im glad i managed to cop one last night but ive never felt so desperate to get a 100 of something that i already ordered :|

good luck to everyone still looking for one

Multizillion dollar corporation sells product = totally fine

Consumer buys product from corporation and takes advantage of demand, which must outweigh supply if people are paying higher than retail, to make some profit = the devil

that's not how capitalism works, brahs. don't hate the player, hate the game

I spent the better part of a beautiful Saturday fighting with HP's website to try and get one of these. I finally gave up and convinced myself I didn't want one. Then today I wake up and find an e-mail saying that one order went through somehow. So I guess I'm happy?

Did I quote you in my comment??? No. Are you the only person buying these like crazy? No. So please stop thinking everything is about you. Huuuush.

If I really was a reseller why would I pass up like 10 others(32 gb) yesterday?

Personally, I did not think people were desperate enough to pay for them at a higher price.

I'm at the back bay store on newbury and there are about 5 people in line including my friend and I

In hindsight, I really should have purchased some for resale.

When all of your income comes from a grad school stipend you are far from living large.

Doesn't matter. It's your money, if they were available then what's the difference if you bought 1 or 100? I don't see why anyone is complaining about this. It's a first come first serve type of deal.

At least not at the bestbuy im waiting for. The reps came outside and told us that it wouldn't matter if you had an online order for pickup or not, it was first come first serve basis.

They are handing out tickets right now, they do seem to have a lot

Oh I wish that was like my best buy.

Once you get your tablet attempt to update the OS -> install preware -> install the speed patches.

Made a huge difference. Like night and day.
