My hp.com SMB order is still in being processed mode.

Meanwhile, OnSale trolls the Internet with infinite supply of HP Touchpads.

Ordered! :D I got one sent thought a 3rd party shipping thing. $145 NZD + $50NZD for shipping. Worked out saving $100NZD vs buying on Ebay.

Well I was able to order a 16GB one through onSale just a few minutes ago and it didn't show out of stock at the time. Plus I had $20 of credit on my Amazon card, so why not.

Probably getting trolled, but the ride alone has been fun.

I think almost all the onsale sales are going to be cancelled, there is no way they have that much stock. If you ordered from them don't count on getting one.
Could be, but PC/Mac Mall does over a billion dollars in sales per year. They are a huge company ... and order massive inventories (in part for pricing). It would not be surprising if they had thousands if not tens of thousands of stock.

OnSale is basically their consumer front end for selling discount items ... so they are probably funneling most of them through that site.

Right, this is painful to watch without an email confirmation from HP.

Quoting this for the sake of common sense.

OMG skype video chat is godlike on this thing. Hell yes

Testing it right now. Suprisingly it works great.

May I ask where you heard this? Any more info - will it be certain stores? Will it also be online?

I got tweeted it by someone I know, they'd apparently phoned HP over the weekend and prices should be changing as of tomorrow, 10am was the time I was told but could be any time tomorrow.

I'll be up from 9am to keep an eye on this thread and HotUKDeals lol.

I think onsale is legit guys. Here's more info on them:

Well well well.

Sounds fucking awesome lol...

BB don't FUCK UP my 32 gig order you sons of *****s

I'll be reading my mangas on this thing and A LOT of other stuff.

The practical use value for this thing is INSANELY high.

Bought off Amazon/Onsale, after seeing a Staples and Best Buy in NYC announce upon opening their lack of "that HP thing" to the chagrin of many dorks, present company included.

Let's see what comes out of this one.

They are a legit seller but there is no way they have this many in stock. It would mean they have more stock than hp at this rate.
I'm assuming they'll be selling 10,000 units or so, which is nothing for a company that large. Hell, when my company orders hardware for my office alone, that would be a purchase for 5,000+ employees.

HP still has hundreds of thousands of these and 10,000 units is practically nothing.

We really don't know HP's actual stock. Just because they're out right now doesn't mean they won't have more available. Regardless, why would HP having less necessarily be shocking?

Sure manufacturers have their own store (typically pricing items at MSRP other then closeouts like this) ... but they don't hold back massive inventories since a majority of people purchase from electronics sites and retailers. For that reason, they wholesale a majority to distributors.

Would you assume the Sony Style warehouse has more PS3's than Gamestop?

Wouldn't Best Buy have or Amazon have a larger quantity than OnSale? Something's not right.

They do. Figure each Best Buy had around 50 TouchPads (from what I've heard, and that's being conservative, too). 50 x about 1,000 stores = 50,000 units.

And I doubt Amazon is going to sell their entire stock at once. They'll likely do it in portions so their site doesn't get hammered to hell. Even a one minute downtime for Amazon will lead to thousands of dollars in lost revenue.

I thought it was reported Best Buy returned a shit ton to HP? Regardless, who says they didn't have more when you count all the stores plus their site? The thing with a B&M is it's split up.

As for Google, they don't always hold massive quantities of electronics. Sometimes their market partners that specialize in that sort of thing have larger inventories. Then again, we have no idea how many Amazon had earlier either, nor how many they haven't released.

This is very fluid.

What makes you think they didn't? Why does everyone not realize how many people you're competing with for these? BB and AMZ sold tons and tons.

They were going to, until they were discontinued and prices slashed — then they decided to sell them, since it was clear at that point people would be buying. No one knows how many of their total stock, between stores and online, has been sold through today though. They probably have more.

My point is that BB and Amazon online both sold out in a matter of minutes. OnSale has had them in stock for 2 hours now.

I just placed an order off onSale as well. It has already hit slickdeals so I have a feeling my order is going to get canceled due to stock.

Every other poster in this thread has an OnSale order. My faith is dwindling. I'll check back later. Hopefully we will have an answer tomorrow at least.

And that means absolutely nothing with regard to how many each had.

It does though with how many OnSale has considering how long it's been on SD, FatWallet, and other places.

Tons of the people who goto those sites already ordered one throughout the past couple days. The mad rush, for what it's worth, is over- by this point, most people who want one have one.

Ah didn't realize they held them back.

But yeah ... we have no idea how many have sold through. They had availability online and at their stores. It's likely a substantial amount.

I think what people aren't realizing is that OnSale only put their sale up an hour ago or so. It's not like they've been selling them along with everyone else's fire sale that started yesterday or this morning.

It basically just started, and news probably hasn't really spread compared to other avenues.

OnSale is selling through Amazon. It should be attracting the same customers.
Though many may have already given up.
