I can call HTC and see when my Vive ships?
I'm a 35 order on Oculus, so I think it might come after the Vive
From what I've read, you can basically tell from the confirmation email you got.
If it says April, and you got it within 15 min of the pre-order going live, you're probably getting it next Tuesday.
If it's after that time frame but still says April, you're looking at wave two of the April shipments, which should arrive by the 15th-20th.
If your email says May, it's just sometime in May, and that's all we know at the moment.
Just got a call from my bank saying they declined the charge on my Visa for the Vive thinking it was fradulent.
HTC support seems to be on this as it's happened to a lot of other customers, so I would recommend if you haven't been charged yet, call your credit card company and notify them to approve transactions from Digital River!
I believe I will cry if this happens.
Just remember: VR will be a tiny market. Releasing an optional accessories to a subset of that market is tough; primarily on the developer support side. Look at the mild reaction that Rift games with the VR feature tacked on received. A good game requires gameplay designed around the feature. Indie games usually step up to fill that void in tech, but they'll be busy filling the normal VR development market
There have also been developers dismissive of gloves; the tactile/haptic aspect hasn't been solved (mainstream commercial ready, at least) and probably won't this gen. Your intuition might be disappointed
Holy cow, your view is better than the Vive! What body of water is that?
I got an "It's in the works!" / "Your order's being processed now." email on Saturday, but no charge or anything else yet. Hopefully they can hold up their end better than Oculus has...
Jeez, I haven't been worried about a lack of launch games to play but I'm still surprised at how many I'm anticipating. Next week is going to be so good.

That email means nothing. Every single person who ordered got one. Unless you've confirmed that you're in the first batch by some other means, don't expect to get a shipping notice.

If this happens, my bank better be calling me ASAP to inform me of their 'concern' or I'll start flipping tables.

I ordered last week and haven't had one. (checked my order online and spam folders)
Dude, call your bank to notify them just to be safe. Better be safe than sorry!

It's a relief: I'm in the first batch, bt never got any email after the "order confirmation" one. Hype turning into anxietyHTC said on the phone that not every order gets the email
I'm inching closer and closer to switching to a Vive preorder. Would I be completely missing out on games for the Rift like Lucky's Tale, EVE, and Chronos?
I'm making the OT and I was looking for something like this. Thanks a ton Durante. I'll give you credits in the OPI don't know if it has been posted, but this table:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QHuT5nmH2Mi1X1eqRf7z8NNWaJLPpBYgOOdzY5fd3Uc/edit#gid=0
became really useful recently.
Not just because of the pretty complete launch information on most Vive games, but also because of the categorization into seated/standing/room scale and room scale space requirements (if applicable).
You can also get most of that information browsing Steam, but not all of it and not as conveniently in one place.
It should probably be in the OP of an eventual Vive launch thread.

Not sure. All three of those interest me as well but Roomscale + motion controls at launch is way more important to me. For the majority of this year you're going to see very different types of games on the two headsets because of this. Which interests you more: familiar games with VR or more experimental/different/immersive stuff that's less polished?
I'd been planning on getting an Oculus Rift since the Kickstarter but when, on a whim, I was able to try the Vive myself it made me a complete believer in roomscale + touch/motion controls. It's what truly differentiates VR as a new medium.
Forever? Probably not.
In the short term, you'll be missing out on something either way you go. In the longer term, we'll have to wait and see.
Personally, after having dk1 and dk2 I'm more excited about room scale with motion controllers, but that's up to personal preference.
I'm really not sure. The problem is I haven't gotten to try VR at all. Messing around in games like Budget Cuts and Job Simulator looks fun. Another factor is I'd be waiting until at least July for the Rift, who knows actually how long with the shipping debacle they have going on. I guess I should wait to read impressions from the Vive launch and see.
Yeah, I currently have the space for room scale so it's tempting. My decision is just murky because I have no idea which experience I want right away.
