Huge Best Buy Sale on 4/26?

Wallach said:
It's $20, as mentioned in both the OP's picture and multiple replies.

Anyone who's played it: Is it worth $20, or should I wait for the price to drop further? I'll definitely get it at $15, but $20 I'm unsure about...

Nothing wrong with it. Another PS3 port that people slammed without playing.

Alright, I think I will bite. The only problem will be trying to call each store to see if they have it since it doesn't show up online : /

I've been following this on CAG all week.

I'm going to pick up both Infinite Undiscovery and GTA:Chinatown Wars. I'm not surprised that they're clearing out IU. I checked out the 360 section at my local Best Buy on Tuesday (when picking up the awesome new Depeche Mode cd) and they had about 10 copies of it, which is a lot considering I live in a town of ~50k.

lost planet runs like garbage on ps3 right? i'm going to get pure, but from what i remember from the demo and reviews lost planet looked really gimped. anybody think differently?

EDIT: nevermind saw above the above quesiton, i thought i read parts were almost unplayable as the orange box though? i was pretty upset at that port.

It's worth $35. One of the best games on the DS.

PS3:
Ferrari Challenge

360:
Bourne Conspiracy
Clive Barkers Jericho
Condemned 2
Devil May Cry 4
Fracture
Infinite Undiscovery
NHL 2k9
Pure
Silent Hill: Homecoming
Soul Calibur 4
Too Human
Turok

Going to attempt to get some of these.

EDIT: Sweet, it says you can get rain checks for the games in the ad so Pure and IU will be mine for sure :)

No, it's not that bad. The PC version is tops, but the PS3 port is better than most seem to think. The early release shots were complete shit, but the final game looks very much the same as the 360 game (with minor enhancements in some areas even). The framerate is similarly unstable with the one annoying issue being that it can jump up to 60 fps at various points. The 360 version had lots of slowdown as well, but it never went higher than 30 fps so it felt more consistent. Bouncing from 60 fps to sub-30 fps can feel pretty bad. Not sure why they didn't lock it down.

So they'll have rain checks? Nice. I'll definitely get Lost Planet, maybe SC4.
Only on the games actually pictured in the ad, I believe; not everything on sale will be pictured.

How do you go about getting a "Rain" "Check"?
When I got one at Fry's, I basically just found a salesperson and asked for a raincheck on a game because it's out of stock.

I think the real reasons the PS3 version gets shit has less to do with performance (and I'll concede the framerate thing is a bit distracting), and more to do with the port bombing at retail and the unquestionably superior Lost Planet: Colonies releasing only on the 360 and PC a month later.

Can I buy these online Sunday or do I have to get off my big comfy couch and go to the store?

If it's online, have fun waiting till 2 AM PDT to hammer the site.

Beware though, employees at Walmart are dumb as hell and it's always a headache pricematching there. Don't let the cashiers fool you into thinking they don't price match, they always tell me they can't...until I talk to a manager who is more than willing to price match.

Not a single game I'm interested in.

So I assume you've already played DMC4, SC4, and NGDS? There are still very good games on the list.

I know but when I hear 'next Sunday' I think the Sunday after the one that is less than 7 days from now (ie, THIS week).

Which is the correct and logical way to say it. Don't fall for Wario's weirdness, you are in the right!

you know there is a forum this post would be perfect for...

if it wasn't posted there over a week ago.

So because this is on another forum, it shouldn't be posted here? Right, because everyone on here goes to CAG.

Don't be a douche.

ANYWAY. For me, I'll be grabbing DMC4, Infinite Undiscovery, SH: Homecoming, Ninja Gaiden: DS, Condemned 2, and Prince of Persia DS. If they have them, obviously.

How is silent hill homecoming it looks intriguing?

I have never played a silent hill game. I kind of want to get it if only for achievements and atmosphere.

I will say that you will get your achievements, at the very least.

Cool. I hate games that are shitty and dont give you achievements. I rented onichambra bikini samurai and it was absolutely terrible in every respect. The jiggle physics on the boobs were the only good thing.

edit- yeah you cant go wrong for 10 bucks.

I got stranglehold at best buy when it was 10 bucks and I enjoyed it.

It's not bad, except the shitty asstastic flashlight effect, and perpetual darkness because the Collective does not know how to properly calibrate Gamma makes the game pretty much unplayable. "Can't see shit!" is an understatement.

But hey, it is $10.

Would these games that come bundled with a microphone be a cheap way to get a microphone that works with Guitar Hero or Rock Band? And if they're USB, do these peripherals work across platforms?

Infinite Undiscovery + Pure

Fuck yes! I've been waiting for Pure to get to a good price forever. This is amazing. I'll be there the second they open on 4/26.

That would be correct on both counts.

Onto further Homecoming talk, the one thing to consider in this game is that there's really little reason to engage in combat unless it's absolutely necessary. The game's melee mechanics are so broken that sticking to the default knife ends up being your absolute best bet until you get ranged weaponry, simply because of the hit animations being overwhelmingly in your favor while wielding it. I'm not a fan of the game's atmosphere at all, but that was largely because it stuck so close to the movie's interpretation of Silent Hill (which, really, was Alessaville) and lacks a lot in the foreboding desolation department.

For $10, though, why the fuck not?

Even for $9.99, Too Human is Too Expensive.

You see what I did there? :lol

Nothing on that list appeals to me, which is kind of a shame because I've been looking for something new to play.
