It's an organization filled to the brim with corrupt, lying scumbags which built a legacy out of exploiting the talents of young men and women with little to no regard for their personal well-being. People dying in their 50s from steroid and drug abuse that was known about, lives destroyed through coercive and immoral office/sexual politics, entertainment with no concern for showing respect for its performers as people first, which is why you have these countless racist, homophobic characters in the first place.
When you talk about baseball, football, basketball, singing/playing in a band, performing on stage, or any other medium in which performers do something for an audience, there are always stories of bad apples, or people who failed to exercise personal responsibility.
With the WWE, it's institutional. It was built by garbage, and now the garbage is calling other garbage trash.
Hogan's friend taped it. His friend and his friend's wife were in on it They either just wanted to have it, to sell it, or to blackmail Hogan with it.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the long suffering members of the new day somehow ended up with the world championship, if only for a short while. The WWE is in the same situation as the porn industry: no one wants to defend them. If they don't do some more culturally diverse things soon, they could become a lightning rod for overzealous senators.

The thing is, WWE could probably weather that storm better than almost any company in America because the people who would really care about and be bothered by those things to the point that they would boycott the company probably don't overlap all THAT much with the people that are actually funding their product. Granted, it could be a PR nightmare for them, but in the long run, they'd probably be fine.

That's not what matters. Boycotts don't mean anything for most businesses above a certain size in today's world and never will moving forward.
Sponsor withdrawal based on not wanting their products image associated with a negative is what matters.
If companies refuse to have ads air during their television shows on the NBC Universal family of networks, then that is what causes change.

I don't recall them ever forgiving Benoit. They still show his matches on the Network, but anything else involving him is off the books in WWE. Even searching his name on anything WWE related won't bring up anything.
Didn't they cause Benoit with the head injuries and whatnot?

Angle left before ending like Benoit, Guerrero died before he could even decide which way he was gonna end. And then there's Bryan, protected like an infant and still forced to retire because his neck is like a rattle.

Benoit wrestled for a lot of different companies before WWE. Laying it all at their feet is unfair.
Okay, a lot of different shitty companies let Benoit hurt himself, and the WWE was the last one.
