Hundreds of people allege that Donald Trump doesn't pay his bills

Some of it sounds like good business tactics but that obviously won't leave a positive impressions on the public.

Screwing over small businesses with late payments is all too common, and one of the absolute biggest evils I've seen in the business world, unfortunately. A lot of companies collapse due to this.

It's a one-way street as well, if small businesses decided to withhold contracted goods and services due to issues, you bet types like the Trump Organisation would deploy swarms of lawyers in an instant.

That's the main reason it works - small businesses don't have the excess capital or funds to go toe-to-toe with big businesses.

Most small businesses will offer 30 days after delivery for payment, which is already tough on some.

My dad works for himself as an appraiser, and hasn't seen payments for jobs up to 4 months out.

For someone who claims to be for the U.S. and business, he sure does love to ruin businesses that aren't named after himself.

As well as those named after himself.

What's going on? Why is WSJ in sync with USA Today? Different author and article, less than half an hour apart or something

Trump’s hotel there eight years ago, said the developer, Trump Ruffin, wouldn’t pay for additional work it demanded beyond the original contract. When Mr. Walters then refused to turn over some fabric, sheriff’s deputies burst into his factory after Trump Ruffin sued him. Trucks took the fabric away.

Mr. Walters said he never had payment problems with other casino or hotel clients. A review of Las Vegas court records showed no other legal disputes over payments involving him. Mr. Walters agreed to a settlement with Trump Ruffin that was about $380,000 short of what he said he was owed, court records show. He settled, he said, because “they were going to drag it on for many, many years.”

"Poll bumps" for Trump haven't really been a thing since he became the presumptive nominee. He's done coasting.
If anything his polls fall. I guarantee that will happen in response to the university BS. I really hope he continues with it cause he's Trump, not cause of his campaign.

This is gold. And people want him in the white house. Can you imagine him not paying America's bills?

Damn, this loon shouldn't even been allowed to run.

I run a small construction company that is still very new.

With these first few projects, I'm very dependent on strict pay schedules to ensure my employees are compensated on time.

Something like this Donald Trump fuckery happening to me would be absolutely crippling this early in the game.

Is this surprising? Dude was yelling not to pay whoever set up his microphone one time on stage. If he doesn't feel like it, he wont.

Trump has lots of bills. He has great ones. Absolutely the best bills. Trump does not pay those bills. But they are the best bills.

I mean, this could very well be a deliberately timed story. Just after everyone starts talking about how "Trump doesn't have enough money to self fund and will need outside funding to run his campaign" a few news outlets run stories saying "every person who tries to do business or lend money to Trump gets screwed." Could be they're trying to scare off donors.

He wanted Mexico to pay for it.

It's Mexico's fault.

Lmao! I can just imagine it.

"Mr. President. You have to pay for the wall or else we will default on our debt"
"But I already said Mexico is gonna pay for the wall. It's their problem, not mine"

Anyone who's even considering donating money to his campaign at this point is already too dumb to be convinced it's a bad idea.

As LOLGOP said on twitter, Should we know their ethnicity before we comment on if these suits are legit?

Its probably coming from the Clinton Camp. I imagine this is the first real sustained shot as its greatly resembles the Bain Capital stuff in 2012. Define him early beyond being a racist. Take away his "great businessman label" paint him as a ruthless business man who isn't getting ahead because he's smart, he's getting rich by fucking over small businesses and his workers.

That'd be beautiful if it really is coming from the Clinton camp. If they continue to release these types of things trump is in for a very rough 5 months.

Trump finally responded. Claims it's false, then literally admits in the same sentence to doing what this article accuses him of doing. Just because you claim it's shoddy work doesn't mean it's true! That's a huge part of the article.

So you didn't pay... So I assume if those people did a poor job, then why not go through the proper channels and dispute the charges?

If it saves the company money, yes it's good business tactics. Of course there's other stuff like public perception to worry about.

Are you high? Exposing your business to liability and lawsuits (of the type that will seek compensatory damages) by not paying your bills is the total opposite of good business tactics.

And who got ahead because of daddy.

So... who wants to tell him that the US President still has to pay their bills? Like, unless he's going to try and claim every personal meal is actually a state dinner or something.

Oh fuck, this is taking me back. I've dealt with this type before. Bad look, Donald, BAD LOOK.

Well I can't disagree with him. Why should he have to pay for shoddy work?

Because he ordered it; your level of satisfaction doesn't allow you to arbitrarily lower the price.
Yeah, unless you can show that something was installed improperly or not to manufacturer specification you can't just withhold pay.

I wonder how his firms write specifications for work. "This candelabra should be tremendous! Lots of gold and crystal!" "Sorry that's not tremendous enough I'll only part you 70%".

Trump seems like the kind of guy who would make a thread on a internet forum asking for someone to make him a 360 degrees logo, but also saying that he wouldn't be able to pay as he only has 10 dollars he shares with his roommate.

I don't really understand where you're coming from. Surely in that case it's "good business tactics" (ie save money) to never ever pay any bill at all?!

I mean, the guy espouses bankruptcy as a legitimate business tactic to avoid paying your bills. He literally bragged about it during a debate. This won't change anyone's mind, just reaffirm what we all knew.

I don't think the point is to change a Trump voters position. It raises awareness to those who don't care to vote though and I expect this to happen a lot in the next few months. Would be hilarious if all Trump can do is claim his decisive primary victory and then gets crushed in the general.

But seriously, there are probably a ton of people who view the two candidates as both having high unfavorables and therefore being no point in voting for either.

Not when you then offer the same contractor to work on other Trump projects. If they did shoddy work, why the hell would you hire them again?

Or could it be, as mentioned before, their tactic to claim shoddy work and when they are sued by the contractor for not paying, bury them in the courts until they go out of business?

So, how the fuck did none of Trump's Republican adversaries dig this up in opposition research and use it against him? Unlike Trump's racism or white Nativisim you'd think it would resonate with Republican voters.
