So, how the fuck did none of Trump's Republican adversaries dig this up in opposition research and use it against him? Unlike Trump's racism or white Nativisim you'd think it would resonate with Republican voters.

Letting Trump win the nomination was one of the biggest act of political malpractice this country has ever seen. Books will be written about this. Nobody vetted him at all, despite him having a shady reputation well before this, and everybody was too afraid to attack him until it was too late.
