This is still in Beta, but the directions to opt in are there:

Steam news update

*Note: There is a toggle in the options menu that allows you to switch between 60 and 30 fps in case it causes performance issues on your system. You can also revert back to the default branch.

This conversion was indeed a massive task to undertake: we worked through over 115 thousand lines of code the past several months in order to make this happen, manually changing timings of each object and enemy, fixing the dozens upon dozens of little problems that arose when changing frame timing, optimizing the game and testing the bits out of it internally.

Boss Rush + Newcomer
As no small aside, in addition to the frame rate boost, we have a Boss Rush mode with new achievements! It can be unlocked after you beat the game in the standard mode.

We also have a "Newcomer" mode for folks looking for a less intense challenge. It will have a limited set of achievements in it, so players will have to beat the game on the standard mode in order to get everything.

The game is also 33 percent off to celebrate. Not sure if / when the updates are planned for other versions, though I imagine at the least the boss rush and easy mode will be.

Very impressed they did this, I had written it off as a pipe dream.

Edit: At the end of the article they suggest it will be coming to Mac, Linux and consoles later once they're confident in the stability. Right now this is only for Windows on Steam. DRM free versions like GoG will likely receive an update once the patch graduates from Beta.

Awesome, it's time to finally play Hyper Light Drifter while I wait for MS to patch in a 60fps mode to Forza Horizon 3 PC.

60fps mode? God dayum. That's awesome.

Now if only they would give us the option to revert the hamfisted changes that made the game easier after launch on normal mode, now that they've got a proper easy/newcomer mode.

Time for a replay then. If this game actually runs well at 60fps then it'll be a joy to play (and probably a lot easier to do those damn dash challenges).

Ah man, I got the PS4 version because of the parity and it was cheaper at the time I bought it.

Still, it's a great game, even at 30fps. Can't believe I let naysayers saying it was too obtuse and difficult put me off getting it at launch.

Does the game have ng+ ?
Like I can start on newcomer then replay on harder difficulties?

It does have NG+, but I'm not sure how it works with the difficulty settings, given that NG+ is already more challenging.

That's what I thought too. The iframes are a bit too much to be tied to difficulty, so they should probably stay on normal as well, but the bigger abundance of health packs and the free refills should probably be part of easy mode only.

Oh wow. Definitely gonna pick this up then. Always thought it looked amazing visually but got turned off when I heard lots of complaints about the fps.

Bought it last Summer Sale but forgot it wasn't 60FPS to begin with. Seems like a good time to give it a go once 60FPS is out of beta.

If you haven't bought this game, buy it. NOW.

Can't wait to play through it again in 60 fps glory. Gonna cut through my enemies like butter.

Seriously? I should have just waited to play it. And an "easy mode" option is nice, though I thought the game was fairly easy as is.

Holy fuck that must have been an insane amount of work. I always saw a ton of people complaining about this but never thought it would be changed. I got about halfway through earlier this year and dropped it for some reason... Can't say the 30fps lock particularly bothered me but I imagine it'll feel a lot more responsive now. Excited to jump back in.

Goddamn I didn't expect this to happen, I could say I wish I had waited but I didn't know it was even coming this way. I do wish that it had been released this way though. :P

This is a real game changer for me. Believe it or not, but HLD is one of the few games where the 30 fps have been a real issue for me. It's because of the way the camera waves around so much in combination with the low framerate. I'm really glad they decided to go for this update, but I still think it's strange they decided to lock themselves to 30 fps so early in the development and stuck with it.

It's a great game and I've just finished it last week. If they patched this stuff into the console version I'd definitely break it out again for another playthrough.

Holy crap! I've played around with Game Maker enough to appreciate what a huge undertaking it is to do this after the fact.

Cool to see that this is eventually planned for the console releases too, I'll try to hold off playing it for a little while longer.
