Unless you somehow get involved with Asian business politics or communion, there should never be a situation where you would need to drink. Even then, only the former has any chance of getting you drunk. I'm 22 and I don't drink either. So good on you, buddy.

Drinking doesn't have to be the big deal people would like you to think it is. I rarely drink and never get drunk, the former because usually I prefer to be able to drive my car, and the latter because I just don't enjoy it.

It's good to be flexible, and I've enjoyed having a few ciders with friends at a party or other event where I didn't feel the need to have my car. Drink only as much as you're comfortable with, when and if you're comfortable doing it and you'll be fine.

Meh. Do what you want. I had no sip, in any way, shape, or form, until I was 22 or 23. It was 4th of July. I was in Manhattan hanging out with some awesome interns from France. I had a mojito. It was delicious. Haven't drank since.

And this. I don't say that I don't drink juice because it's not for me...

I'd say there's a lot more reasons to say "it's not for me" when it comes to inhibition-lowering stuff like alcohol compared to juice.

As for beer, I've definitely had some outside the ones you listed. Guinness, some local stuff I didn't know the name of, Heady Topper; all tasted like horse piss to me. The rare times I drink, beer won't be my first choice.

This topic pops up pretty regularly, it seems. Yes, you are weird in the sense that you are deviating from the norm. Is that a bad thing? Not really...

Talking from my personal experience, I started when I was 23, in my last year of university. In the beginning I had a hard time getting to know my limits... because I had no idea how to judge the current state I was in when everyone around me had already been drinking since they were 15 or so. Things have gotten better though - everything in moderation, I guess.

I accidentally had a sip of my uncle's beer as a kid, but I otherwise have never had an alcoholic beverage.

I don't feel like I need to drink. My father's side of the family has had a bad history with alcohol.

I might want to drink on occasion, but I am concerned about its health effects. I also do not want to have a negative emotional reaction.

Am I weird?

Some people will say you're weird, but that's bullshit.

I only have alcohol MAYBE twice a year. I don't like much of it. I drink "socially" but then I barely go out - I have a little at the works Christmas do, a little at Eurovision (lol) but that's really all.

Thing is, I don't even really want to now, but I have a good excuse anyhow: my medication doesn't mix well with it. I found out at last year's party (I got really pissed off and decided to have some drinks to try & get over it, then felt like I was gonna pass out within 2 drinks!) and since I was off work for about 6 months with mental illness, people find it an acceptable excuse.

But I don't think you should need an excuse.

As an aside: people around my generation sometimes go out every weekend (or more) and get absolutely shit-faced. How the fuck do they afford it, is what I wanna know?

e: A bit sad to see people that feel they DO need it to have a good time. I don't get it.

24 years old here, never had any alcohol in my system either and I party just as hard as those drunk bastardos. Come at me bro.

Seriously though, you do not need to drink to have a good or amazing time. The best part is I actually remember (sorta) all the amazing parties and shit I did with my friends.

Drinking is simply a silent agreement between everyone who does drink to overlook the fact that they're drinking the rotting byproduct of organic material to lossen thier sense and/or inhibition.

Now pass that single malt!

Your first post makes Alcohol sound like LSD or something. That is, in the respect where you think something might "go wrong".

Have a drink if you want to, don't if you don't. Nothing more to it than that.
