I bought Zelda Wind Waker HD after playing through BotW

Definitely one of my favorite games in the series. I love the world and the characters and the game is just full of charm and personality. Wind Waker is one of the best looking games in the series as well.

It's really not. I'm a huge SS fan and all of the ideas they developed there are in BOTW. Upgradeable gear, stamina, a world that feels like a dungeon in itself, gliding, cooking and much more. Fujibayashi is great, Minish Cap, Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild under his name? There is no better Zelda dev than him right now. People try to sum SS up as just a "linear game" but it is so much more than that.
For me, it's more of how we went from the most condescending Zelda game of all time to the least since the original.

Zelda is indeed in good hands with Fujibayashi as director.

But they will all inevitably break. It's not a matter of gain, its a matter of permanence of my rewards and for me it doesn't feel satisfying to receive temporary buffs as a reward.
Think of them as ammo, because they work exactly like that.

Would you complain if in MGS you found some stinger missiles and had to "waste" them against a strong boss?

Yeah, that change of perspective is good. It's just that people dismiss SS because of that and forget that it was a very innovative title in the 3D series that had some ideas that would eventually be used in BOTW

First ZElda game I played. The openness sort of segued into BotW. So it sort of feels like an evolution.

Now I'm playing TP and that feels older than WW and a lot more constrained regardless of the open plain. Funny how WW feels a lot more modern than TP

Well no, the rechargable weapons work exactly like ammo systems, because you're always guaranteed to get the same back within a relatively predictable amount of time.

In MGS you have your core weapons that you can resupply at will. Traditional durability systems work like ammo (like Witcher 3) where you have to go back and resupply to use the weapon effectively, but in Zelda it breaks. No guarantee you can use it again, at least not anytime soon, and not at your own will (ala MGSV).

Also MGSV doesn't use its weapons as loot rewards, at least not in the same way.

Can someone who has played both BOTW and Wind Waker help me out, by telling me how much more difficult BOTW is when compared to Wind Waker?

Do you think that someone who's managed to finish Wind Waker, will run into trouble in finishing BOTW ?

Thank you in advance.

BOTW is much harder in the beginning. Easy (but not WW easy) where I'm at in the game.

Really would like to see this on Switch. I didn't like the endless sailing in the NGC version. Too slow. But I guess they made sailing faster in the HD version?

Love Wind Waker, not my favourite entry into the series but it's better than BOTW in almost every way.

^ Yeah I enjoyed BotW but WW is definitely better to me.

Still one of the most beautiful games ever made. I also love the smaller settings, it makes me actually care where I am.

That's because it's a legit Zelda game.Thing that BOTW isn't.

The same happened with MGS V.
