He makes a valid point but fails because its in the form of of bias instead of inquiry...

I didn't know about the streaming ability, but it will never be SEEN because multi-platform games are ALWAYS crippled because they can not use a system's benefits since it requires the ability to run on every platform, hence you can never see the best of a system through multi-platform titles

besides, the weaker system CAN be better (note: NES double dragon = best IMO >.>)

This thread is lousy with people agreeing with the OP. Where is your gif?

man, does this qualify for animal cruelty?

Times like this I wish MikeWarrior wasn't banned. If he were around this thread would be on fire right now. Instead we have to sit and wait for the rabid fanboys to slowly start trickling in. Hopefully in another thirty minutes or so things will begin getting good.

edit:

In the mean time I guess I'll post a visual offering. This isn't really commenting on the validity of what the OP is saying. Rather what this thread will surely turn into.

Don't know about any other games but DMC 4 on the PS3 and Xbox360 look EXACTLY the same. The OP has no idea what he's talking about.

Well, if you use hard-disc based texture streaming.
In Resistance they used 150MB for texturing. Ratchet used 300MB for each level.
The fact is that PS3 os uses 39 MB of RAM more than 360 os does not compensate for 150 MB gain from using hard-drive, with which the 360 can never utilize it.
The future is bright for PS3 games. Take Uncharted as a prime example.

It is a good time to be PS3 owners.

EDIT: DMC4 looks like sh*t on the PS3. Yeah, the Japanese developers I guess would never catch up with the western counterparts.
Nope. For your information, a HDD cache is not the same as more RAM. RAM is infinitely more important for texture quality.

Streaming from a HDD or DVD/BluRay like in Gears of War, Uncharted or Ratchet means you don't have to fit all of the textures for a whole level into memory at once. However, everything on-screen and in your immediate surroundings definitely does need to fit into RAM.

Well, it is not the same but it is almost as good as RAM as long as you can get the assets in time. Every on-screen does not always occupy the whole memory.

I came in thinking some 3rd party tech-wiz might have said something about PS3 vs 360...but instead I find some random GAFfer posting his personal opinion that he pulled out of his ass...

great, awesome, thanks for letting us know your insightful thoughts. now get lost.

Ding, a good streaming engine can do wonders, but if you can't fit into ram you can't display them.
