Calm the fuck down guys. Ima open a ticket or something and if that doesn't I'll call them tomorrow.

Also the "Check PMs" post was a joke.

They should have a record of you registering your 4000 points card, then the transaction made with those points. If indeed it took your points without giving you something in return it should be in the record and easily fixable.

If you are too lazy to call to get your points back it is your fault, not Microsoft's.
Yep. You can even check it for yourself on Microsoft's Billing website.

Too poor to buy anything else at the moment... :(

the time you spent making this thread, and the inevitable time you will spend here defending yourself = much more time wasted then calling up the support line to get this sorted out...

just saying.

You GAF's narrator or something? Whats up with these one-liner posts lately. :lol

Anyways, it seems that GAF got its way with this one. OP succumbed to peer pressure rather quickly.

MS experimenting with quarter eating vending mechanics confirmed.
Seriously though OP, if you haven't contacted tech support by now you deserve to lose your money.

Xbox also has a quite awesome and fast Twitter support, so contacting them through it will get a response in just seconds.

So I redeemed a 4000 points card on Live and bought Bastion and Ms. Splosion Man.
After that I tried to buy Outland but it threw up an error code when I tried to buy it.
So I tried a total of three times and on the third try it had a different message for me - that I had insufficient funds. And SURPRISE my balance is now at 400.
WTF? I threw $20 at this game and still didn't even receive it?

I don't wanna deal with the clusterfuck of MS' support so I guess I'm out of 1600 points :<

Okay. There was an error. That sucks. Technical errors suck.

But do you think it might have made a little more sense to pursue things a little more before starting a rant thread about it? Check your purchase history on their billing site, your download history, and if things don't add up, call support.

Yes, you shouldn't have to call support. Yes, it sucks when things break. But now that they're broken, you can either fix your problem or not fix your problem.

Clearly complaining about it on GAF is a better option...

1. Computer
2. Browser
3. navigate to gaf
4. Post thread

vs

1. 1.800-Microsoft

Which will solve the problem faster...?

Ya, at least we peer pressure into sticking up for himself.

This is not his fault. Anyone who is blaming him is wrong. He payed for something he did not receive. So why is everyone jumping on him? Because he made a thread to complain? Yeah that never happens on the internet...

It's true that your purchase history doesn't lie so it's super obvious if it's an error on your side or theirs.

He made a thread complaining about how he was too lazy to complain.

I think the issue was that he took the time to complain but wasn't going to fix it. Just flushing 20 bucks down the toilet!

No one is blaming him. People know he's entitled to receive what he paid for and get a refund.

But what's more productive than immediately belching on GAF (the original thread title was "'MS just robbed me out of $20'" and the OP is basically "welp an error occurred MS are thieves *twiddles thumbs*") is to try to get the problem solved.

Whose fault is it that he decided not to call support and have the situation rectified?

The only reasonable response to this thread would be something like "yeah dude that sucks" but instead this thread is filled with people telling him it is his fault he lost the points - which it isn't.

By the way ,he's out of 1600 Microsoft Points.

He added 4000.
Bought Bastion (-1200)
Bough Ms. Splosion Man (-800)
Tried to get Outland, got an error
Had 400 left.

It seems he was deducted 800 points (the price of Outland) twice...or in the rush bought Outland and something else. :p

Bu the hasn't posted yet if he indeed checked his download/purchase history.

Quote a single post where it was said that the loss of points was his fault.

I think it's unreasonable to decide that there's only one reasonable response to the OP.

He called Microsoft thieves for a technical error that he didn't try to resolve.

As always, stump renames the poorly chosen thread title.

Oh so in other words I should lock the thread? The only reasonable response is "yeah dude that sucks" and you've already made it. Go ahead. Tell me to lock the thread.

Here's one:

If you're not going to chase them up about it then it's more accurate to say you just robbed yourself.

I mean sure it is dumb to not simply call and get a refund but I'm just a little shocked at the way everyone put it.

Edit:

Okay I get it. I'll drop the issue.

Lock the thread

You bought a game called Poopocalypse?
It's fun, for $1. You control a chicken and you have to shit all over people/city in one fly. The longer you stay in the air, the more you shit around the more points you get.

The visual style is cool too.

It seems you are unable to grasp the concept of making a remedial effort vs blame for the original problem in the first place.

Lol at the thread name backtracking, I preferred the first one, I mean, they ARE robbing you, you doing nothing to avoid it is, well, a completely different story.

Is a tag quote an acceptable response to this post?

Ha, that's much different than what I was picturing. Looks kinda neat.
Yeah. :p
When I heard about it I thought it was some games with avatars and crappy 3D with poop all over the place.

Then kept seeing mentions of it in toy's-indie threads and checked it out..and was quite surprised. XD

Clearly if he goes to MS support and shows them his billing history and his MS points card stub and his receipt and says "WTF happened guys?" and they cackle with delight that they've duped him, then it's them robbing him.

There being an error in the payment processing system is not them robbing him. I've had that happen before from many companies, gaming and non-gaming. Double-billing, failed transactions, shipments getting lost in the mail, whatever. Of course I've also benefitted from it--companies shipping me two items when I ordered one and just telling me not to bother shipping the second one back. It sucks when it happens against you. Unless it's part of a pattern of incompetence--which it's not, 99.99999999% of transactions on XBL work totally fine--or part of a malicious attempt--which it's obviously not--then it's not them robbing him.
