Maybe it's just me but I've seen it way too many headers of video game articles and YouTube thumbnails in my life.

Reverse image searching it just leads to a bunch of articles and blog posts from random sites that uses it in their headers.

I also always wondered where it's from. Why is his mouth upside down? Is it from Robot Chicken?

It just bothers me how this unflattering photoshop job is so heavily circulated.

Good call. They flipped his mouth and added some tears. I think the eyebrows are exactly the same, which is kinda funny when you realize he's supposed to be smiling in the original.
