I want to get this game Im just scared of my DSlite screen ;_;

I've been playing EBA like crazy since getting it for Christmas and I haven't made a scratch yet on my DS Lite.

SPIN SPIN SPIN!

I liked Ouendan better. I don't know why, I just couldn't get into EBA like I could with Ouendan.

Yeah, I'm thinking of importing the original.

I can't stand most of the EBA music; and if I'm going to listen to banal licensed music game music - it can at least be in moonspeak. Where I can appreciate the sound of it, and ignore the grating lyrics because it sounds like someone strangling a parakeet.

:lol :lol

i played ouendan every couple of days for about a year, and i frankly couldn't go back to it after EBA. * ducks head to avoid ban ;) *

All the issues that were present in ouendan (especially the unskippable intros that made Ready Steady Go so painful to retry) are all gone, there are more songs, and the dot patterns are more interesting and challenging.

People will always quibble over the music - but it's not that bad. I hate a couple of the songs with a passion , but in the context of the game i can live with it and the final level - the intro build up into the final track - is a fantastic video game moment : dripping with cheese, but straight into the ROCK.

Working on trying to perfect the last level on cheerleader - can't quite get it - can hit all the notes for the full combo, but i always end up with 20 or so 100 pointers - gah.

Hyoushi sounds like he's the master :)

Best game on DS? definitely - i can see me playing this every couple of days until EBA2/Ouendan 2 comes along ... (please iNis :) )

Actually.... where is Kobun? you can't have a EBA thread without Kobun!

Oh yeah. Dragona goes nuts over all that shit. Just throw in Metroid Prime or Battalion Wars, and Dragona'll just sit there for HOURS.

You have no idea what's going on, do you.

And you guys want a master? Look for someone named sixfortyfive. Literally the only way to beat that person's score is to get a bigger spinner bonus, because well... figure it out yourself.

The game is great, but why doesn't the game use officials songs instead of covers? I wanted to hear Avril's voice T_T

The scenario's are great though in this game :D

By the way, I'm grinding my way through the hard mode at the moment, currently stuck on David Bowie and looking forward to the next difficulty. Does the insane difficultly mode have cheerleaders/agents? (like some other not-to-be-named game) Are the dance moves any different? (not that you can really watch them)

It was the same with Ouendan, having to use cover versions. It's probably a royalty issue. I'm sure that while it was quite pricey to license the songs themselves, it would've cost more to license the original artist recordings.

So many EBA love threads! This is great. EBA is definitely my game of the year. It's one of those games that makes me glad our hobby exists!

First question: Hardest difficulty mode has something like cheerleaders, but better.

Second question: Dance moves animations are MUCH better than the other you-know-what game. Night and day difference.

I just picked up EBA today.

You know what I haven't seen anyone mention yet in this thread? Rumble support!

I love how the rumble support works in this game! When you hit a target, it rumbles at the same time. When you're rolling over the ball, each little 'dot' the ball goes over has a rumble pulse to it.

It just adds that much more sensory output to the game.

Love it!

EBA got robbed in the GOTY thread. At absolute minimum four of the games that beat it have no business being ahead, and I can only hope the lack of recognition for EBA's greatness is rectified in part by the number of people who gave or received it as a gift recently.
But enough about what should have but didn't happen, or what I hope happens but hasn't yet. As for reality, EBA is the singular greatest reason outside Japan to buy a DS, or to buy a second DS if your touch screen gets messed up, it's the number one proof of concept for touch controls, it makes me love songs I hate, it makes me love songs I've never heard (which is the vast majority), and it's the biggest-hearted game since gaming began. Anyone who missed out needs to get it. Now. And demand sequels, too.

Lovin' EBA. A lot. A hell of a lot. It's one of the few games I rented and then decided I needed to buy it. I can't get past Jumpin' Jack Flash on Sweatin', and I can't believe there's an even harder difficulty level after this one. It must be absolutely insane.

On a side note, I'm a little drunk.

Well-deserved.

I know I'm going to eventually cave to the massive GAF hype for this game...

Last time I did that with Phoenix Wright I was pretty underwhelmed. On the other hand, EBA actually seems like a game, and I liked Trauma Center well enough...

I don't think this game would work on the Wii... mainly because on a single TV screen, having the story sequence + Agents dancing + beats all over the place = Clutter nightmare.

Great game.

I don't mind Avril being in the game -- I thought all the songs in EBA sounded great. Even if they are covers.

You're An Inspiration
was kinda depressing, but I was pleasantly surprised that a story with that much emotion in it would be in a game.

Haha, I know that dude on another messageboard. He's awesome.

I guess I'll give EBA another whirl soon. I think I mostly couldn't get into it because the normal difficulty is an absolute snore-fest when you're just coming off Cheerleader mode in Ouendan. I wish they'd had at least the next hardest difficulty level open off the bat so those of us with experience wouldn't have to trudge through the main one.

Note: This is not EBA hate! The same would apply if I was picking up Ouendan after playing EBA. DON'T BAN! DON'T BAN!

The problem is that most people wouldn't have been coming off cheerleader mode. This is meant for everybody to enjoy! Now if they had you starting at only the easiest mode to begin with, that woulda sucked.
At the walmart near here, they had an EBA demo set up, but it was the whole game, so I just went and beat all the levels of the easiest mode while I was there.

I haven't had the cart reading errors with EBA, but I did with Ouendan, with both my DS and DSL.

And I'm glad more people are enjoying this game.

Awesome awesome game.
The only thing that dissapointed me is the audio quality, I'm sure it could be better.

I went to download most of the songs from EBA... but I soon realized the covers actually sound better then the real artists :(

Oh well, EBA FTW! I still need to import Ouendan.

I sorta agree. The cover bands used are the ones that I associate with the song, so when I hear the originals, I don't like them as much with the original vocals :lol Such a sacrilege I know. They also edited a few of the songs and cut them down to more manageable times. I can't believe the original Highway Star is over 6 minutes! A stage that long would drive me NUTS. Props to EBA though for introducing me to some quality rock songs that I had never heard of.

I can't believe I keep on improving my score replaying the songs. I thought there would be no way I could remotely touch "Love Machine" Rank a few days ago. Now it's obtainable! Just gotta stay perfect on the brutal stages!

Heh I know how you feel! Just got "Let's Dance" and "Canned Heat", like everyone said is great!

I just learned there are indeed S-ranks from OnkelC, and that makes me want to go back and 100% the 300 point markers!

Heh glad you enjoyed those. Funk REALLY lends itself well to the genre Inis has laid out for the DS. I think rap music could work good too, why wasn't there any? I wonder...

You have no idea how much I enjoy that genre. I guess you haven't seen the Space Channel 5 love threads I've made. (And to a lesser extent, JSR even though they both aren't "classic".)

I finally beat the last level on the hardest difficulty today and received "The End." message after the credits. I got the same awesome adrenaline rush upon beating JJF as I did on the previous difficulties. Then I spent a couple more hours playing different songs from any difficulty that I had scored "C" on to improve my ranking, and I realized that even Breezin' (which I had previously dismissed as a pointless mode) has fun levels!

I keep saying that EBA is the "best game ever" (check my comments the official thread among others), which is probably just me being hyperbolic and over enthusiastic for this game, but I can honestly and easily say that EBA is one of the best and finest games I have ever played. If I were rich with a lot of disposable income I would buy a copy of the game (and a DS Lite) and gave it to every person I care about, because this game is something really special IMO.

Can't wait for a sequel, and hopefully a Wii incarnation.

Pretty much have to agree with this thread. One of my GOTYs and by far the best game on the Nintendo DS.

You're The Inspiration is honestly the most touching scene I've ever seen in a videogame. Nothing in any Final Fantasy, Half-Life or Metal Gear (well... except Metal Gear Solid 3) comes close for me. I really hope they're serious about the
to be continued...
at the end of the game.

Rushmore said:

Someone in another thread said that message only means that you haven't finished the game yet (the harder difficulty levels), and I think they're correct because when I finished
Hard Rock (Divas)
mode today, it said "The End." after the credits, instead of "to be continued..."
