I just cried for the first time over a game.

Super Mario Brothers 1

When you defeat
Bowser
and sent him into a pit of lava and it turned out the princess wasn't even there.
The poor bastard died for nothing.
I definitely needed a tissue at that point.

MGS4... the crawl.

I teared up a lil.

The crawl might be one of the best moments in gaming.

Skipped Phoenix 2-3 and played 4. Maybe i ought to go back and play those games.

OH YEAH. Plus Apollo Justice is great in the way that it doesn't spoil anything of the first trilogy.

Well, cases 2 and 4 of Phoenix Wright 2 are must plays. Because case 2 counts a lot in the story of the first trilogy (a lot of references at it in PW3), and because case 4 is fucking great :D
Too bad case 3 is a bit of a letdown, but if it really bores you, well there's still gamefaqs...

And Phoenix Wright 3 is fucking MANDATORY.

Every and each case of the goddamn Phoenix Wright 3 is made of sheer awesomeness. Before Phoenix Wright 3 there was always "the best case in this PW game is... this one !".

But in Phoenix Wright 3, every case is just that goddamn awesome. Either because of fanservice, or because of incredible level of crime genius and plot twists, or BOTH.

But then again, the last goddamn case manages to surpass them all. It takes everything from the 2 past games and connects it all together, makes you realize that you actually played a whole story in three games instead of a series of little cases splattered through 3 games. And finally, it ends it all with one of the most beautiful and moving yet certainly not all-happy ending I've seen in a game.

PLAY IT NOW.
But play PW2 before... BUT THEN PLAY PW3 >:O

I got teary eyed while I watched Dom's story unfold in GoW2. The feelings of hopelessness and isolation overwhelmed me, it was masterfully expresssed.

As much dumb as it may sound, this was quite moving. Took me by surprise too, but who wouldn't be, in the middle of such a crazy game.
Yeah, that was an awesome level.

The end of FFX, where
Yuna runs through Tidus
got me.

But what REALLY got me was the ending of MGS3. The music, the walk up to the gravestone, everything.

Haven't cried at a game, but there were a lot of moments in Majora's Mask that tugged at me.

Gibdo Man and the Music Box House,
Deku Butler's son,
Kafei and Anju mask quest.... the list goes on.

This reminds me...

Have you ever been playing a game, in the middle of something potentially heart-wrenching (whether due to emotional tone or difficulty), when someone comes and tries to carry a conversation with you, completely oblivious to your attentive plight?

...don't you just wanna SLAP THE EVER-LOVING SHIT outta them for one brief second? :lol

YOU BET I DO.

And if you just politely send them to hell, you get a so charming "meh ! You should stop playing videogames if they make you so agressive !"

I cried shortly after playing Wii Play with my parents. So many great games have been released in my lifetime, but none that transcended simply being a "videogame" more than Wii Play/Sports/etc. As I watched my parents' joy as they waggled I felt as if my lifelong passion had finally been vindicated. Nintendo has brought so much joy to my heart as well as those of millions (if not billions) of gamers, but none as sweet as this

wat

I don't think I've ever cried during a game.

My heart has been tugged a little, but that's about it.

I think I've cried to one movie, though

Big Fish of all things, too.. :-/

MGS4. Definitely MGS4.

edit: To be clear I teared up.

This, mainly because of
Eva explaining things in act 3
(too much shock for my mind), and seeing
Shadow Moses
especially the way it was presented. I'd pay cash money to remove my mgs4 memory and experience it for the first time again.

It wasn't much of a surprise for me, though I did import Ouendan 1 and 2, and both featured a similar song/scenario. Still, good stuff. :)

I'm sure that I've gotten emotional playing a game before but for the life of me I can't think of one specific instance. I think the testosterone is blocking the memories out :lol

But PW3 is fantastic. I didn't care that much for part 2 so it took me a while to pick up 3 but man that game's story and how they weave everything together was amazing. That Xmas level in EBA and the ending of MGS3 were surprisingly emotional too so I've really got to get around to finishing MGS4 after seeing how many posters got choked up by it.

Xenosaga Episode III ending made me cry hard. Damn that was rough.

That song just reminds me of The Life Aquatic :lol

I cry during the underwater scene at the end. When they all touch him :(

I got pretty emotional during some of the last parts of MGS4, but the ending killed the mood (and the whole story, too).

Samba De Amigo for Wii.
Playing that all the way through from easy to superhard careers in one setting with all those colors flying around straining my eyes. I cried. Manly tears.
I beat it in one sitting though : )

Xenosaga III, near the end. Also, it was one of the few games to give me goosebumps because of the amazingly spot-on VA performance; I am of course talking about when
Shion discovers she summoned the Gnosis. My God...I love that scene.

Persona 4
Saying your goodbyes to your friends :(

I cried a couple times at the end of Metal Gear Solid 4 and damn, that was the first MGS game I ever played. Damn incredible, and I was easily able to follow it, so I wish people would stop telling others they'll be confused if they haven't played the previous ones.

I'm also replaying Super Mario Galaxy as Luigi, and I'm still amazed by the the tale Rosalina tells. I never thought I'd see a Mario game where the story went there; the sense of loss is so profound, so dark and so inspiring. It would make a beautiful children's book, albeit one you'd read to your kid with caution. I'm at about Chapter 4 of the book so far, and knowing where it's heading is priming the waterworks.

Oh! And the ending of Majora's Mask teared me up. That game has the best story of any I've ever played, imo. So thematically dense, and so beautiful in what it has to say. I'm not sure we'll ever see another Zelda quite like it. Wind Waker had a great ending as well, probably one of the best in the series.

most recent teary-eyed episode: valkyria chronicles,
when issun gets shot - just came out of nowhere, & really stunned me...

me too ...you're the meaning in my life, you're the inspiration... *tear* I can't believe Chicago made me cry.
Oh snap, I forgot about this one. This, THIS is the ultimate tearjerker. I was FLABBERGHASTED by how emotional that scene was. It's the sort of thing where you say, "Oh c'mon, that game looks silly," and then you play the scene and, to quote Ricky Bobby, your mind is blown.

You know it's a sad scene when you tear up just thinking about it. I can't even listen to that song anymore.

MGS4 is the only game which caused some tears to leave my eyes, games which have made me only misty-eyed though include-but-are-not-limited-to MGS3, SotC, Ico. For reference, I've only gotten misty-eyed over very few movies and novels, so I guess that's saying something for games.

Haha, yes! this too! Totally misty-eyed throughout that song. I felt like such a pussy.

Lunar: Eternal Blue (Sega CD)
1st ending when Lucia goes to the Blue Star and leaves Hiro behind. LUUUUUUUCCCIIIAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

MGS4 has been said a hundred times.

Ouendan 2's final stage gave me manly tears of joy and awesome! XD

Lost Odyssey Disc 1
where Kaim finds out that Cooke and Mack are his grandchildren and that their mother, his daughter, is dying. The scene of her death caused me to tear up. Thank god they followed up that great emotional scene with one of the dumbest collections of fetch quests and minigames ever put into an RPG. That totally didn't subtract from the emotional impact. *eye roll*

Shadow the of Colossus: if you've played it you know what I'm talking about.

I must say that the Crawl in MGS4 didn't really strike me as sad, just as incredibly intense and dramatic.

In all seriousness, the ONLY game that ever flipped my mind and gave me sadness to the brink of tears is Terranigma for the SNES.

The game ends with you having been reborn as a bird that flew all across the world, observing humanity grow and surpass itself in technology over and over again. And at the end you fly to a remote village, where time stood still after the events that took place there. And the only person in that village is Elle, your lover, who told you that
she would be there waiting for you to return to her no matter how much time passed.
You definitely returned, but no longer a human.

Totally trips me out every time I think about it.
