I miss physical Club Nintendo rewards

I miss them, too. I got the platinum reward figure, button set, clear playing cards, and I think the final reward was the Majora Mask OST. The figure was probably my favorite free reward for reaching platinum.

As for reward that I actually had to redeem with coins, I really liked the Hanafuda cards. Watching JewWario review them years ago was what interested me and got me to join Club Nintendo.

I got an Iridion 3D soundtrack CD, signed by the composer of the game. Very nice and pretty rare I guess. Also a question mark block which makes a sound when you hit it, and some other stuff.

It helped that my brother and a friend of him bought many games but didn't care for the codes. I took them and remember that at one point entered the codes of 16 games or so. My brother was like "what do you want with this crap", but I like it.

Yeah, the physical rewards were amazing. It's a shame they regressed with the mynintendo rewards which are terrible.

The physical rewards definitely started off strong and then got weaker as time went on, but I'm still happy with it overall... it was the greatest thing ever compared to My Nintendo at least. I still have that Mario hat sealed, the Mario statue is on display, the buttons were never opened, etc.

a have a smash brothers soundtrack.. was that a thing? i want the Mario kart 8 one.

Yes, the Smash soundtrack was a thing. It's the main reason I bought Smash on 3DS (I think you only got the soundtrack if you registered both the console AND handheld versions of the game).

I bought the MK8 one on eBay two days ago, it'll be coming from Japan in a couple of weeks. Spoiler alert: NOT cheap :-(

I have a bunch of this stuff. My favorite is the SMB characters figurine.

I wonder how much some of this stuff will go on eBay in the future.

I was just thinking yesterday about Club Nintendo. My Nintendo has been so dry about its rewards that there is really nothing worth getting unless you don't mind something like Metroid Prime Trilogy being 30% off. Even worse is that some discounts are costly for no reason. The Chibi-Robo Zip-Lash coupon wants 80 gold coins. Barely anyone can remember that game existed and 80 gold coins mean you bought $80 worth of games from the eShop anyway. Not worth it.

Club Nintendo was wonderful even if I missed out majorly on some physical rewards. I got that 3DS Zelda pouch during the final month and it was perfect timing for my N3DSXL. I redeemed two of those game cases and I'm so glad I did. And then there are just so many digital VC/WiiWare/DSiWare games I got that weren't coupons.

Their current reward system is awful and we were all hoping that they were going to release something amazing after closing Club Nintendo for so long.

D: I miss old Club Nintendo rewards.

I still use my 3DS game card cases, I got 2 of them.
I also got the Hanafuda cards, the Animal Crossing playing cards and the giant AR card. Memories.

I have many prized Club Nintendo rewards:

Game and Watch Ball
Game and Watch Collection 1 and 2 (sealed!)
The Kirby 20th anniversary Coin
Almost all the poster sets (still sealed I need to frame those at some point)

Its a shame they don't offer that stuff any more. Right about the time they stopped the program is when I started buying considerably less Nintendo games.

Most of it was junk but I did like the cards and Ball G&W. The DS games too of course.
I bought a ton of those game card cases too but ended up not using them.

The best thing that I got from Club Nintendo:

Fuck NOA, man. We really should have gotten this, too.

Forget physical rewards. I miss when the new club wasn't balls.

There's been ONE update since it started to add more software rewards, those Zelda 'videos' and that's it.

It's fucking garbage.

Shit, at this point I miss digital rewards that aren't just percentages off of a specific game title.

Agreed. Not sure why they ditched digital games. Definitely don't care about the program at all as it stands.

I never imagined Nintendo could do any worse than Club Nintendo in terms of rewarding customers for their purchases.

Then,... I was introduced to MyNintendo.

I'm still so salty I never got this:

The beginning of my thinking that Nintendo actually hates it's fans.

The beginning of my thinking that Nintendo actually hates it's fans.

Even MyNintendo offered entire games as rewards when it started. I don't get it, the VC roms are nothing to them. Why not offer a small rotating selection to reward people for buying their games which rarely come down in price and rarely get sales (meager sales, at that)

The calendars were my favorite!

I got a Zelda poster set still rolled up and I'd love to frame it one day.

I also got the playing card set that is super cool to look at

Majora's Mask and Smash Bros CDs were really great along with the posters I've gotten over the years. Pouches were fine, the 3DS game case was cool, the gold nunchuck was neat, and Hanafuda card set was really sweet! Loved some of the promos like Awakening/SMTIV and Mario Kart 8's free game.

Wish I would have gotten some of the figures like the Dark Moon one, but I feel great about what I got with Club Nintendo over the years. My Nintendo has just been bleh with nothing worth redeeming the points for... Just sucks to see my points waste away, but I don't want to use them on stuff I probably won't care about just because of that.

I got a pink stylus sent in the mail for registering my copy of Kirby's Canvas Curse on My Nintendo. That was cool. It became my preferred stylus.

Physical rewards definitely should return.

[edit] Other stuff I got from My Nintendo ... a desk calendar, a 3DS case, a Zelda-themed 3DS pouch, all very nice.

I'm still mad I never got to get this. I remember saving up my coins for who knows how long. I was only a few coins off, but was finally in reach to getting it (I think I needed to register 2 more games).
Then all of a sudden it went out of stock. I emailed support asking if it would come back but they told me it was gone for good. All that time saving up those coins immediately felt like a waste.
At least I got my Mario hat and deck of cards for my platinum rewards.

Hilariously the only Gold rewards right now are an opportunity to spend more money.

And I don't even get coins for spending money on IAPs like the Badge Arcade.

Yeah Club Nintendo was brilliant. Okay so you had to fill out questionnaires but at least it was worth it for some cool Nintendo merchandise or download games.

My Nintendo is dreadful.

I never participated in the Club, but it always seemed like a really cool, classy way of creating goodwill with fans. MyNintendo is a joke. Digital rewards are not special.

Aww yes i miss em.
I got that bug statue with all of the characters..
Hanafuda cards
And playing cards those gold and silver ones.

I coudnt care less now tbh

The soundtracks were great. NA/EU never got the Mario Kart 8 or SM3DW OSTs... although technically these were for registering the games within the first month or something like that? Still a reward kinda.

EU got the Mario Kart 8 OST. I have it at home! I had to choose between it and A Link Between World's, and it was a Sophie's Choice that haunts me to this day.

I also got the Mario ensemble figure, Mario Kart 8 metal badges, as well as giveaway things, like the Ocarina of Time OST. Best reward I got was the Operation Rainfall coin set, with Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, and Pandora's Tower coins in a nice, felt-lined box.

Nintendo's gotta bring physical rewards back.

Lack of love in here for the Wiimote caddy. Not a glitzy offering, but a nicely functional accessory.

I had both of these, all the other physical things seem a bit pointless to me.

I still have the Game & Watch and keep thinking about selling it because, you know, I've played what there is to play in the game. I wish I'd kept the controller now but I was offered quite a bit of money for it, I could easily cover buying another one with what I made going on the current price but I'll just wait for the Nintendo Classic Mini: SNES which we'll almost inevitably get at some point.

EDIT:
I've just remembered that I have a sealed one of these too, somewhere. I only got it because I had to spend my points on something.

Club Nintendo Japan during the GBA/GC era had some awesome stuff, and I was buying GBA/GC games like they were going out of fashion, so I got me some cool merch.

I have a golden Mario statuette, those plastic figurines (Mario Family), the 2 Game & Watch Galleries (sadly not the G&W Ball reissue :supersad:) I have all three collection boxes that came with buying all the GBA Famicom Mini series. Good times good times.

Also, tho, looking back, it's mostly a load of tat that has been clogging up my flat for years. :/ I dumped most of it at the office. I'm kinda over it all.

But good times while it lasted.

I played with the Hanafuda cards last week for the first time and had fun learning the game, even if we were a bit off.
It was sad to see them go.

I don't miss ordering stuff and then things never turning up, nor do I miss missing out [on] items by 20 or so stars due spending them on [those] missing items.

Back when Club Nintendo was at its prime, I was working at TRU R-Zone. They let me take all codes from open returns. It was nuts.

Planning on putting a different pin on my kid's backpack at the start of every school year until they think it's lame...or until I run out of pins...or they drop out.
