Mister Apoc
Demigod of Troll Threads
check this out, you can tell he was somewhat afraid of Magni before they fought....quite interesting
Best GoW ever, waiting for the next one with Thor.
Bro we had like six games of Kratos being a massive manchild, killing and raping everything he could. He killed his entire family in the process and blames everyone but himself for it, while high key entertaining it was just garbage, same with the actual games themselves, enemies don't have hit stun and the combat is just shallow. While it doesn't need to exist this game is still better in terms of writing and combat than the old games by far. A completely accidental upgrade, I mean if you want the old games they aren't going anywhere.TANGENT:
I played 15 hours of this game last week for the first time, and I couldn't help but feel disappointed by the combat/drama/story so much that I quit playing it. Thankfully I picked it up for 20$, even still, I felt mad that I paid for it. This isn't GOW and the changes they made just wasn't for me.
I watched a synopsis of the rest of the story and yeah.... not my cup of tea. This is coming from somebody that played all the prior games and really liked the combat and ridiculous story. It makes me sad that they had to take it into a serious story/drama genre now. Oh well, just not for me anymore.
I played the old games two years ago for the first time. Chains of Olympus, 1 & 2 on the Vita, GoW 3 on the PS4, then God of War 2018.Bro we had like six games of Kratos being a massive manchild, killing and raping everything he could. That’s not really true. Kratos revenge began in 2nd game. In the first game he worked for Athena for 10 years to removes his nightmares, he never went after revenge. Athena’s final task was to kill Ares because he was destroying Athena’s city. In the first game Kratos biggest goal was to get free from his nightmare and biggest reason the nightmare tormented him because he always knew it was his own fault.Bro we had like six games of Kratos being a massive manchild, killing and raping everything he could. God of War (2018) in my opinion absolutely has better combat than pervious games but you need more than good combat, you need good enemy/boss design to fight and that to me lacked in God of War (2018). Outside of Valkyries, most of the enemies/bosses were not that much fun to fight and it loved keep throwing at us Trolls to fight.I find it funny how in so many ways God of War 2018 is the exact polar opposite of the old games.
Instead of sweeping, epic camera angles, it's an intimate behind the shoulder view, instead of the combat being all about playing keep away, it's instead about getting up close and personal, instead of loads of gore and nudity/sexuality, there's almost no gore and zero nudity/sexuality.
While as a fan of the older games I'm kinda sad to see the style of them left behind, the argument could be that the formula had grown pretty stale by the time of Ascension and a huge shake up was what was needed.
So I still liked the game a lot, even if not quite as much as I liked 1-3, but I did honestly find the combat in 2018 to be more engaging than in the old games, which could be pretty dull and repetitive at times, I liked the Zelda style approach to the game's level design and I liked the idea of the world of God of War being a world of mythos in general instead of just Greek mythology, I was actually pretty taken aback that the game referenced more than just Norse myth, that was cool as hell.
So I'm excited to see where the series goes next, but I do hope they bring back some of the edge the older games had, GOW 2018's gameplay combined with the past entries sex and violence levels would be pretty neato.

As in good thing or bad thing? What truly freightened me was the camera in that game.
For me it's better this way.The bosses definitely lacked the "wow" factor of the prior games.
While there were moments of epic scale like the old games, like Jormungandr for example, the bosses were mostly pretty scaled back, which is a huge change for the series.

I agree with all of this. Otherwise the lack of gore and nudity was also a downer.

Fair point. There was some gore, but not nearly as much as in the past games.
True, I cannot disagree at all. If we just had the option to zoom out a bit, everything would’ve changed don’t you think? For 1v1 fights it was great, but fighting groups sucked. Your attention is naturally drawn to the arrow indicator instead of just looking at the "big picture" like the older games where the camera zoomed out appropiately. Also, the previous games had some of the best sense of scale when you were climbing something or fighting a gigantic boss - GoW2018's has some of those big scale moments but because of how persistent the camera is with staying close to Kratos, they aren't nearly as good.

It no longer make sense for Kratos start having sex with random woman, the only reason he did because he want distracts himself from the nightmares.Aries tricked him into doing it... and he never lived it down. What you talking about....? At least the combat in the prior games didn't throw tons of enemies at you without having the camera right over the shoulder making it really hard to see who is attacking you. The indicator is a sorry excuse for a compromise. Plus the gap closers are garbage and so is having to press the buttons like a puzzle in order to control all the combat.
The story was always ridiculous and should be, raping is a strong accusation since the sex scenes I remember the girls were very willing to satiate Kratos. So I don't know where the raping comes in.
Or because he wants to have sex?It no longer make sense for Kratos start having sex with random woman, the only reason he did because he want distracts himself from the nightmares.
Or the game says so....Or because he wants to have sex?
Why wouldn't he now wants to have sex with some beautiful women?
Oh right, because this fucktard boy is all around.
No more tits, he got a kid now. WTF is wrong with you lotion?!I want enemy variety back and tits.
I hated atrus he ask questions constanly and because kratos wont answer any of them he will then ask a dozen more.I played the old games two years ago for the first time. Chains of Olympus, 1 & 2 on the Vita, GoW 3 on the PS4, then God of War 2018.
The old ones are imo the better games. Kratos is a strong Character , the story, cutscenes, gameplay, bossfights, scenario, puzzles - everything fits together and is fun. GoW 2018 may be the "better" and modern game in terms of graphics and it's open worldish levels and camera, but it just lacks the fun and enthusiasm of the original ones.
They just made another game with a big name on it, GoW 2018 could have just been a new ip as well. There's not much GoW in it and boy is just annoying.

That is going to be one epic showdown. Kratos and Baldur broke the earth, just imagine that fight with Thor...
I want enemy variety back and tits.
He isn't.where in the video does milktos ever look intimidated?
I feel that the old camera angle lended itself better to giant bosses/set pieces, like the Titans, with this shoulder cam they won't pull out the camera so we can see more.... You have to move far away to access the size of the task ahead. For me it's better this way.
Giant boss fights in 99% of the cases are lame as fuck in terms of mechanics, i always prefer humanoid or at least same dimension of kratos enemies.
Even in souls games the best boss fight are against humanoid creatures.
They are spectacular but lame as fuck in term of mechanics...close camera or not.I think he is more concerned for his kid than scared for himself.... at least this is the vibe I got when I played it.

In previous God of War those giant bosses were handled pretty well.
More complex - ok. Still, for me its combat was closer to a SoulsBourne than a GoW. And I liked the GoW Hack'nSlay mechanics.Better, more engaging and complex combat mechanics.
Imaginative yes, but no, not more than the old ones.More imaginative world, looking absolutely breathtaking at times.
What did I miss? The writing was okay, just like every other AAA singleplayer game Sony. For me, the story was boring and hyped. Could be a sidequest :"go up the highest mountain and get rid of your mother's ashes".Better writing by a long shot in terms of quality and execution.
You don't say. 5 years after it's predecessor and 1 consolegeneration later.Better technically in every way.
Yes.In my eyes, it is only a different kind of game than previous God of Wars.
What is wrong with wanting a product that builds on the strengths of its predecessor but does not throw them overboard? Now we have the basis of a generic 3rd person action game with a bearded old man and his son living somewhere in the snow in their forest hut. And that sounds even more exciting than it is. Next we walk through a semiopen world again like in any modern game, fighting against small groups of enemies instead of hordes, because the fighting system is now "so complex" and you would lose the overview if there were 20 enemies on the screen at the same time. And that's the main reason some people are unable to detach from their nostalgia. Accept for what it is, don't wish for something it's not.
Unfortunately, yes. It's one of the best action RPG games at the moment.
