I want to buy AC!

It's no wonder games sell less copies these days with attitudes like these.

If you enjoy the game, buy it. Renting is the downfall of the industry. It keeps prices high, hurts companies that need your support and prevents sequels to great games.

Start with Armored Core: Master of Arena on Playstation then jump to AC2 on PS2. But if you don't want to play the PS1 game you could just start with Nexus on PS2 then go to Last Raven.

Oh Assassin's Creed. Ya get that too.

Ace Combat?
Armored Core?
Asheron's Call?
Asssasin's Creed?
Atari Classics?
Asheron's Call. Blah he would at least start with 2 if it is still running!

Assassin's Creed is still due to come out for PC next year right? Anybody know if it'll be another Vista-only title?

I rented it on the ps3 because I heard it was really repetitive and that it had problems compared to the 360 version+ the freezing. Well they patched it so it doesn't freeze as much(I wouldn't know I already returned it) 360 version does have better textures from what I've heard. And they game-play does get repetitive after a while. That being said I thought the game was awesome and wished I had bought it. Finding flags and going after templars(busy work) is actually quite fun. You should be able to get you $60 worth out of it.

Amazing how the gaming industry keeps getting bigger despite no one apparently buying any games.

Also, if I enjoy the game, I should buy it? How do I find out if I enjoy it?

Looking forward to quite a few rentals in the near future. If you expect me to straight-up buy the 360 Dark Messiah on principle, you're kidding.

I always think AC is Animal Crossing...
Same here... Like SMB is Super Mario Bris, NOT Super Monkey Ball...

Oh, Uncharted is better, I don't care if some people thought it was too linear, for me the characters were much more charismatic than Assassin's Creed.

I'd say give it a rent first before you make a purchasing decision, if at all possible. The first few hours are some of the most fun I've had gaming in ages...then you realize what a grind you're in for and repetition sets in. You should definitely check it out, though. Hell of an experience.

Props to Ubi for setting the game in a politically dicey arena as well. I hope with the sequel they explore that aspect more fully.

Dont trust the guy with the damn UNCHARTED avatar.

Anyways, I hated AC. Well actually I liked it until the 4th assassination then I got completely BORED with it.

That all depends. If you like to get your up close and personal killing on good, this game satisfies greatly all the way to the end. I never tired of the combat. I would pick fights constantly and see how many guys I could take down in a single fight.

:lol HAHA waiting for someone to exploit that.

Wow, those Uncharted fans sure are desperate.

If the game was as great as they say it is they wouldn't need to come in here to tell us about it.

Once I got counters down, I never bothered with stealth unless I absolutely had to. Stabbing people left and right, slashing guards to trigger massive brawls, the works.

Whoever the Mensa candidate was that came up with the bright idea to leap from pole to pole in the goddamn water needs a smack.
What kind of bad-ass killing machine drowns in six feet of water? :lol

I love it.

The dialog is some of the best I've ever heard. I personally think they had better lines than Mass Effect.

I can see how the game play would be repetitive for most people. But the game provides an experience unlike any other game before it. Which is more than most games can say these days.

I don't know what it is about this game but I have no desire to play it but when I start the game, I can't stop playing it.

HAVE YOU PLAYED IT!!!!

jk....well kind of.

That seems to be the problem. Hardly anyone has played Uncharted and we have to trust unreliable media outlets who hate great games and praise generic ones :D

First of all I need a PS3, then I'll need a demo and then I'll decide whether I simply hate Uncharted for kicks or hate it with a passion to get back at all the AC haters.

This posts needs more hate

For me, AC sounds like the absolute ideal game to wait for bargain prices on.

1. It apparently sold a ridiculous amount of copies, so there will be plenty of used copies floating around soon and the price is likely to drop relatively fast.
2. The reviews were very much mixed, so if you are in the 50% of the population that will utterly hate it, you won't feel bad having not spent that much money on it. If you are in the 50% that will love it passionately, you will be proud of yourself for discovering a value-priced gem.

Nah, it's not 50/50.

There are way more people who love the game, they are just less vocal about it (except for me, I'm too vocal about it)

I thought the game was alright. Everything is pretty much great except for the repetitiveness, which almost killed it for me. The story was good enough to drag me through it though, I'll probably even buy the sequel.

Ha I could definitely understand if you bring the hate.

I haven't gotten a chance to rent AC yet but i was wondering without any spoilers were you happy with the ending or was it so left open for a sequel that it was unsatisfying.

You finish your main goal but the bigger picture is left open. I think they handled it pretty well.

Basically rent it or wait for price drop. All my friends who owns Xbox360s tell me to do that, I own a Ps3, and according to them; The game is repetitive, it was boosted to some tolerable level by the " great score inflations of 2007 that will surely haunt the industry ". They say its poorly thought out design wise is basically a cash in to get a new trio of sequels going. They said the commercial got them pumped, playing the game didn't.

That thread got to 12,000 posts in a month for a reason. It took Resistance a year to do the same.

While the game does get repetitious - I never got bored of it. Personally I'd rank it in the top 5 games I've played this year. It's a solid game and I enjoyed the story. Also I never really followed the game until it was almost out - so I wasn't infected by the post E3(?) GAF hate that started spreading when they showed off the game with several glitches. And do what I, Bishoptl and Dr_Cogent did. When it gets repetitious - start going around kicking as much ass as you can. The first half of the game I sneaked around for the most part - avoiding as many fights as I could. Second half of the game I just went around trying to pick as many fights as I could. I don't know if this is the reason why Bishoptl and Dr_Cogent went around trying to pick fights - but that's why I did it. It kept the game fun imo.
