I want to play Nier Automata, help

After seeing Stellar Blade I realized I like games where the main character makes my winky go ooh ooh

I know Nier Automata will make tickle feelings for my winky but is it true that you have to complete the game three times to see the real ending and that it takes about 50 hours?

If so I might get fatigue on this genre which means I’ll be burned out before Stellar Blade. Then I’d rather skip Nier so my winky can enjoy the main event (Stellar Blade).

Thoughts on this? How long is Nier Automata?

Seriously though, the more you play it, the more the story gets better. It's such a fantastic game. By the end you will love the game

Only finished it once, it was fun but I don't get the hype (besides the "art"style). Started a second playthrough and like you said, I got fatigue. But can recommend, maybe you'll like it so much that you want more - and more - and more

Nier is great, but it's different. I dont think Nier and Stellar Blade look all that similar. Check out Ultra Age. It's developed by a Korean studio as well and is pretty fun.

I would say it's closer to 40 hours.
The first 2 playthroughs are indeed very similar though you do play as different characters with unique playstyles which helps it feel less repetitive, and you do get aditional story elements.

The "third playthrough" is completely different. It's not really another playthrough at all, it's basically the final unique third of the game.

I think more like 30-40 hours and no it's not really 3 playthroughs, just think of each "ending" as a third of the game. It's one continous story.

Fantastic game. That being said when I first played it I gave up about half way.

About a year or two ago I gave it another shot and damn, that was a very good choice.

The Second Playthrough is what got me hooked

The First Playthrough I wasn't impressed, but when I finished the second Playthrough it's so much better. Not to mention reveals alot more too

I thought the locations were cool, the world design, the characters, the enemies, the soundtrack, the gameplay variety and the combat system / level system. So all in all a good game, unfortunately the only thing that didn't convince me was the story, so I got a bit bored after a few hours of the second run, as I felt I'd already seen everything I liked.

But well, I had fun with even one playthrough and the game was worth the money.

Me trying to restrain myself and not be the guy who has to point out Automata’s story and themes are more appreciated if you’ve played the first game (Nier Replicant) first:

its quite long, i think maybe 40 hours to do the multiple playthroughs, BUT its not really multiple playthroughs, i think the first and 2nd are quite similar but the third one C is completely different

I have “Nier” on PS3 - still sealed, never played it.
I don’t have replicant though.

Replicant is the first Nier remastered, they just touched it up graphically a bit and made the combat control better.

People comparing Stellar Blade to NieR Automata are only looking at the most superficial and completely inconsequential parts of the game. NieR is one of the best written, and most dark and depressing games ever made. People play it for the writing and the top 5 best of all time in the whole medium OST. It's a masterpiece, and it's not because of the main character being hot.

Unfortunately, nier regularly crashes in the same places on the PS5.

Already in the first round after the fight against a Goliath, a crack in the earth opens and tekkno worms have to be fought. There is currently no update that fixes the error.

On the Playstation 4 I was able to play the game to the second ending

Yes and no. Run A and C are completely different, but sadly run B is horrible, because you're going through the same campaign again, but this time with a worse gameplay. I really think it was a mistake to include run B at all, it makes the game less enjoyable, and I'm sure a lot of people gave up on it when they saw it was the same thing, without knowing run C would be the second half of the game.

It's an incredible game, but all the 9s parts were really a mistake.

Just do it, you wont regret it! Play A-B-C-D-E endings :) only B- ending is a waste of time but you can rush it! :)

Well, the hot main character definitely is what initially draws people in.

See, you start the game having a box of tissues nearby prepared to use it for a good time (wink wink, nudge nudge, know what I mean?), and then you keep playing and realize you’ve made an awful mistake as by using all those tissues already and now you’re ill-equipped for when the game makes you unleash a storm of tears.

Having said that (mild spoiler for Automata):

We can’t say for sure about Stellar Blade, but the hottest Nier Automata lady isn’t even the lead:

It's an incredible game. You may not understand why until you hit ending E, but man, it's worth it.

Also you're not really playing the game three times. Route B follows the same storyline as Route A from a different perspective, but it is the weakest part. The good news is you can mainline it in a few hours because you carry over your level and equipment and new mechanics are introduced. Route C is a sequel to Routes A and B and is completely different. Route D is achieved by making a different choice at the end of Route C (You can skip right to it after beating C). And Route E happens after skipping to the very end again after seeing Routes C and D.

It sounds like a lot but it's really not. Rerunning the end of Routes C and D might take 20 minutes each.

Um...I think there's like 26 "endings" in Nier Automata. The game is fun and I didn't really grow tired of it even after seeing the "true" ending. Matter of fact I double dipped on PC and am trying to play it on Hard (the game, not my winky necessarily). It's been years since I played through the first time and it's taken me 6 hours into a new playthrough and I still can't beat the first level to get to a got damn save spot. You have to play almost perfectly. Good times. I'm pretty sure your winky will dictate that regardless of how much you play Nier, that Stellar Blade must be played for it's satisfaction.

Not really OP, 2nd playthrough is a lot of repeated stuff but slightly different and you can blast through it very quickly.

After that they're not replays, they're the rest of the game.

Well worth doing if you like the strange. Wasn't my normal kind of game at all and I loved it. Nowhere near 50 hours.

Yep. You can stop after the 1st ending, but it's not worth it. You should finish it 3 times.

The problem is that the 2nd playthrough is mostly similar to the 1st one. I didn't like that aspect. The real changes happen in the 3rd playthrough. And by then, people are more likely to be burnt out.

On the positive side, you will be able to maintain your erection for 50 hours, and not just 15 hours.

5 playthroughs for the true ending (E) which might be my favourite ending ever in a game. However, I'd like to recommend something more effective to wake up your dinky wink, a little something called: Porn. It's OK, thank me later 👍

I think that’s what I found by mistake while looking for a Christian-only Minecraft server.

There are also like 20 additional endings lol. No, but OP, it’s worth the ride. I didn’t think I’d want to play through after once, but I loved every minute of it.

So it looks like I already have the game on PC. A quick check online and apparently the Steam version is awful. Should I get the PS4 release to play on PS5?

Fun fact: the same bullshit that is said now about Stellar Blade was said about Nier Automata back in the day.

By the way, Shift Up's games are strong in the same things as Yoko Taro's: music, story, and depressing tone. It's their inspiration for everything.

So, no, the comparisons are spot on.

As for OP question, HELL YES, play it.

And after that, Play Nier Replicant, the new version. You will appreciate it more after Automata.

I'll believe that when I see it. If that's even 50% true, I'll be happy to be wrong.

I know they have a music focus in their games, but it's not even remotely close to the OSTs from Okabe. The only similarity is that they're both music.

50 hours is standard rpg time for one run. Some are 80-100 hours in length. Quite a lot is edited out of the subsequent playthroughs in Neir. I was rather shocked, it does not feel like a total repeat each time. My instinct is always to play the most difficult level, but this was impossible. I tortured myself trying to play the game with one hit game overs until I gave in a year later and put the game on either hard or normal. Well worth total completion.

Yeah you gonna need to reach the canon ending 3 times but each run is different, i say treat them as as story acts really.

i hated the end of the first act, hype af after the second and cried like a bitch on the 3rd. Enjoy.

The game constantly shakes up the gameplay so I doubt you'll get burnt out.

Maybe on nier in general but those games are notorious for bending genres

Not true, I only have the Steam version and it plays just fine.

You may have seen old comments from before the patch that changed and fixed a lot that only released a year or two ago, but even before that there was the fix made by the creator of Special K: https://github.com/Kaldaien/FAR

There's nothing left to do but to play the very enjoyable game.

Yea,it sounded pretty off putting to me to have to play the game multiple times, but when I tried it I thought it was a great game.....the playthroughs are from different character perspectives so you aren't playing exactly the same thing every time.....the longer you play the better it gets.
