Then it would be awfully difficult to uphold that if the 40 or so moderators and administrators had to deal with millions of members in their free time. We want this to be a civil place for discussion, not a YouTube comment stream filled with arguments about Hitler and Jesus.

Other than the bizarre recurring discussions about things like bathroom habits, those might be some of the most common topics on GAF, and it isn't rare for discussions surrounding those two things to be similarly productive to those arguments on youtube.

I was actually thinking today how OT's community is so wonderful...how it would fare as its own website? It seems like the non-gaming community here is so diverse (sports, music, tv, movies, comics, etc.) that it could thrive.

I don't know about threads, but I noticed a lot "Nvidia shill"-type people during the 970 vram controversy... For their sake I'd hope they're getting paid to be incessantly defending the company's shady practices like that.
