If God Were Proven To Be True.........

It's like Douglas Adams *knew* this thread was going to happen:
(re: the babel fish, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)
Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mind-bogglingly useful could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as the final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God.
The argument goes something like this: `I refuse to prove that I exist,' says God, `for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing.'
`But,' says Man, `The Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED.'
`Oh dear,' says God, `I hadn't thought of that,' and promptly vanished in a puff of logic.
`Oh, that was easy,' says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed on the next zebra crossing.

From my own testimony I never started with the Bible as "evidence". I observe the world around me and see that there is an origin. There are only 2 possible explanations of that origin. Cause or No Cause. It just makes sense that there would be a cause being that everything I see around me even in the room Im typing has somewhere it came "from" and a reason for it. So it has a cause so I thought why not the origin of the universe having a cause as well. Then it brings me to the Bible because its the only one that literally starts first sentence of In the Beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth. If those words are true then its very easy to understand the simplicity of everything else being true as well.

Believing that something so complex has to be created creates a problem of infinite regression. You assign the role of creator to a god more complex than the universe because you can't understand the universe, but then who created this god? And who created god's creator?

Being finite beings, humans have trouble understanding and accepting the concept of infinity. Everything must have a beginning and an end. That coupled with the idea that something cannot come from nothing presents a problem that some humans explained with a creator god who exists infinitely, but this is an unnecessary overcomplication. It's a much simpler inference to say that it's possible that the universe itself has just always existed.

Thats exactly what I meant by the thread. If you see it as no evidence and I say it is. Then by your terms what is it exactly if I say "the universe, the Bible, Jesus etc is evidence"

What is it in your terms exactly other than evidence?

You are just playing with the meaning of the word "evidence".

If we have two hypothesis A and B, evidece for A would be facts that can be explained by A but not by B.

All of the "facts" that you have presented as evidence for the existence of God can be explained without God. Therefore, they are not evidence for God.
