If I were a NeoGAF mod...

would it be ok if someone took a photo of you or something you use to identify yourself on a site and take a picture of piss exspelling from their penis onto the photo?

It could've just been spray from a bottle of water. You don't even know that a penis was involved.

Mods don't really have much power. What you'd want to be is an admin.

Honestly, there's not much I would do differently as far as actual policing goes. Most of the things I think GAF needs are on the back-end. Things like quick-reply, integrated mouse-over to show spoilers, searching (supposedly coming back in the near future) and other such things.

The person who owns the avatar was offended by their actions. That is enough info I need to take it as internet bullying.
There is an ignore option. You're not forced to subject yourself to posts you do not want to see.

Make "Doctor-GAF" threads bannable for being stupid. Go to the fucking doctor, not posting on a goddamn gaming forum.
Not every situation requires going to a doctor. It's nice to ask for other people's opinions. Obviously the line is drawn when you get threads like "CUT MY ARM OFF. DOCTOR?", but not every thread is an extreme.

People so eager to ban memes seem pretty humourless. :-/

And people don't like blame space? The guy is a god damn auteur. I'd give him admin status.

I'd probably tag more often than our mods. It's fun.

Also, make sure any and all morons are cleared out before E3. Mods are usually good about this anyway, but if I were to be a mod, I'd want to be vigilant.

I would demand Green Scar change his avatar :(

I recall he got a little too worked up about that gif of Ninja Turtles kissing... other than that he's a pretty cool dude.

I'd find a way to bring back search. Fuck tags and shit, just bring back search.

and then i would ban boney and the countless other gravijah duplicates.

Isn't this thread about what you would do if you was a mod? I don't see anyone else being torn down for what they would do.

internet bullying? come on...
it was funny and appropriate
Not to mention trying to actively rally support for the banning of a member is much more of an act of bullying, to me, compared to simply pissing on a picture of someone's avatar.

TRYING TO DRAW ATTENTION TO YOUR WORDS DRAWS ATTENTION TO YOUR POST. WHO KNEW?

Londa you need to let yourself laugh at other people, and yourself. There is a pretty noticeable difference between bullying and that post. If BlameSpace followed chocoloatecupcakes around thread to thread trashing him and making fun of him then of course thats internet bullying. That one post? A tasteless joke.

You asked "why is this not bannable" and we're trying to explain to you.

Maybe. None of the threads I've seen so far will get answers from us, that's why medics exist.

I'd permaban everyone who makes spider threads. Because fuck spiders.
have you ever seen an ecosystem where spiders were collectively killed off and their prey animals were allowed to multiply unfettered?

Well, in my case, let me state that if I were a mod -- not that I'm in the running or anything so this is a rather absurd exercise -- I wouldn't actually do that.

However, with that aside, I'd argue the opposite, actually. The overuse of memes being posted ad nauseum with the assumption that they're automatically funny leads to humorless discussions. Why, if I was a mod, just for disagreeing with me, assume that I've just posted a stupid image of Kenshiro pointing at you with the caption "You'd Already Be Banned."

And I assure you that I'm not taking this seriously.

once again, its about what I would do as a mod. If I find it to be banworthy then that is why I find to be banworthy if I was a mod. I didn't see many people laughing nore did I find it funny myself at the time. Then I find out the person found it offensive drew me to the conclusion I now have. Maybe I am a stick in the mud. Or a party pooper. My personality might be dry, or unlikeable. But tbh that doesn't make something rude less rude because I mentioned it.

Now that I think about it, banning Londa would be a good start.

Just speculatin'.

You aren't the first and you wont be the last one to say this.

If I were a mod I would actually give the reason(s) why I banned someone in their little ban message, with a link to the offending post. I was banned for a month once and all the mod said in the message was "you're a dishonest little shit" (or something to that effect). Banning people for certain behavior but then not telling them what the behavior was won't really help prevent repeats.

Thankfully I haven't done whatever it was I did before, but I still have no idea what it was. Sometimes i'll go back and edit or remove a post for no reason other than I think it might be misunderstood by the powers that be, just because of that incident.

I understand the purpose of spiders, not saying exterminate them from the planet.

BUT THE PICTURES OH GOD THE PICTURES

What's to do? How can you improve upon perfection? Truly Neogaf's moderation is a model of righteous internet justice, nary a mistake has been made under their watch. Unless you are as infallible as they are, I can't imagine how you could even think of joining the team.

No it's cool, I think I get it. I was just thinking about this more on a policy in general level than a personal level. If we start banning people for tasteless one-off jokes that are ultimately pretty harmless, then GAF becomes a less free and fun place. It's all about repeated actions, I've seen blamespace around and know that he isn't always being "offensive" to people.

visit any thread detailing a rape or murder.

bloodthirsty revenge gaf is the group that don't seem to be huge fans of due process.

Unban Dennis Dyack for the lulz of Too Human 2 discussion.
I would be really happy if Dyack got unbanned around the time 2Human info starts dropping. I doubt he would even come back out of pride. But still, it would be interesting nonetheless, especially if 2Human were to blow the doors off and be amazing. I think enough time has passed.

I would let the black girls aren't attractive thread be a picture thread. Because the premise is fucking retarded and the author of the original article has been proven to be a fucking idiot.

Mod so hard that Black Mesa Source would be done by the end of the week

Was Cupcakes really offended by that pic? It was random and meaningless as hell and funny as fuck.
