If no new games were ever released, how long would your backlog last?

Okay, suppose that after every games that has currently been announce will be the last games ever released. Ever.

Also, suppose that you could obtain any game/system to play any game that has been released.

Would you be able to sustain your gaming habit for long?

Personally, I think I'd be set for life. Between my current backlog, lack of time, and games that I thought look interesting but didn't bother with do to time constraints I'd be good for a long long time.

A while.

I'd also probably end up playing much better games, too. It's a downhill slope we're on right now...

Also, suppose that you could obtain any game/system to play any game that has been released.

I'd be set for life with this rule.

I have a decent backlog myself but it's mainly because I still play my favorite games from past generations. Banjo-Kazooie is played yearly on my N64, still throw in Super Mario World, Metroid from the NES, etc...

Because of having little to no time, I think I can game for like 2 years without running out of new games to play.

Considering I've made a big effort to eliminate my backlog recently, probably a year maximum. Though at that point I'd start buying games that I never got around to years ago (like Pikmin 2) and 100% others that I simply blitzed through to clear out of the backlog (Batman Arkham Asylum).

If backlog meaning games you own but haven't played, I could probably go about two years.

If backlog meaning games you want to play but don't necessarily own, I could go about ten years.

About 6-7 months, I'd say. Not too bad.

If I always continued to keep my current limited time to play games, probably for life.

I have games from the PS1 era I still haven’t played.

If I count strictly my backlog, I guess I'd last about four or five months. If I include all the games I wish to play again, I'd probably be set for life.

I've been (finally) playing Final Fantasy XII. Been at it for the last month or so and I'm only 18 hours in.

I lean towards rpgs. With FFXIII-2, Xenoblade, WKC1+2, The Witcher 1+2...the list goes on and on....I've got options.

3+ years probably? I have around 80 steam games and 20ish console/handheld games to get through, so I'm sure that will take me a fair while.

I play a ton of games, but my backlist is ultra long so it would still takes years to get through it. I don't know how to begin estimating it.

Only games I already own - 6/8 months (sigh...). With games that I don't own but I want to play - 2 years.

I own Doom. The amount of WADs out there to play, plus the existence of random level generators, would probably keep me set for life alone.

I've got plenty of other games I've never played, though, and there's always tons of games from the past to check out.

Pretty short. I made it a new rule to complete a game before I start a new one! I'm on Jak 2 HD right now and it's annoyingly difficult.

I might just drop it and play something new or replay something old.

1-2 years easily. I still have the rest of Skyrim in finish, as well as Fallout 3 and New Vegas to start. And a load of other RPGs now that I think about it.

At least another 10 years... at the very least...

I am like a scavenger at the end of a generation, picking up tons of games I missed and then putting them away for a rainy day... a bunch I have been getting to recently.

At the rate I finish games, a very, very long time.

Here is a snippet of what I have and have either partially played and not completed or never played.

PS3:
Ratchet & Clank Tools of Destruction, Quest for Booty & A Crack In Time
Heavy Rain
Grand Theft Auto 4

360:
Eternal Sonata
Blue Dragon
Lost Odyssey
The Witcher 2
Battlefield 3 (Campaign)

Wii:
Xenoblade
LoZ: Twilight Princess
LoZ: Skyward Sword
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Mario Galaxy
Mario Galaxy 2

3DS:
Ocarina of Time (have completed on N64)
Super Mario 3D Land
Mario Kart 7 (working on unlockables)

DS:
All DS Zelda
Golden Sun: Dark Dawn
Pokemon White
Pokemon Soul Silver

Vita:
Disgea 3
Gravity Rush

So yeah. Theres probably more too if I go into my GBA because I have Fire Red etc. If I wanted to get into PS2 games I'd have a few too including FF12, KH2, Dragon Quest etc FUUUU

Oh man. A decade, at least. Lotta PS2 JRPGs and late '90s / early '00s cRPGs to blow through still.

If I played them as much as I play WoW, I'd probably be cleared up in a year or two. Though I'm not sure how many games exactly I have in my backlog...

Probably forever, at my current rate of play. And I don't even have that much of a backlog.

If I actually hankered down it would probably be within a decade though.

I think I'd be OK if the games industry died tomorrow honestly. With what I have now plus Retro emulation, I'd have plenty to keep me busy for the rest of my life.

How many games have been released ever, and how much time would it take to play each one? Take that number and subtract the time of the games I've completed. That's my answer. Many lifetimes. ... and yes, I'd like to experience the crap/broken games too.

Of course, my idea of completion has been evolving. Completion doesn't mean 100%ing anything anymore.

If I were to play consistently probably 6 months, as I'm currently distracted doing other things (school, work, catching up on One Piece) probably over a year.
