Have a European Wii U? Claimed Brain Training on then-non-existent DS Virtual Console for free? You might want to delete it and redownload to add new features like save states and display options.
About a year ago, Nintendo presumably tested DS emulation on Wii U amongst users in Europe and Japan. People could download Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training for quite limited time for free (then it was pulled from eShop without redownload option). It was based on a very early version of the emulator, with only two display options and without Virtual Console menu whatsoever. Japanese Nintendo web site has stated that VC menu will be added in an upcoming update.
Today, the game became available in EU, with all functions of other DS VC releases. It doesn't seem there was an update for old builds. To update, you need to delete the old version and redownload the new one from eShop. Don't worry, the game counts as "purchased" by you.
