If your next-gen console forbids used games, will you spend more money total?

Don't want much discussion we already had, just want a spontaneous and honest answer what you believe how your habits of spending money on games will change and if it will be less, same or more.

I personally would say it will keep about the same. I will probably buy less games I never play or just have a quick look at because I got them cheap used. At the same time I will buy less games I only put on backlog, meaning I will actually buy games more conciously loooking for games that offer a lot of playtime and holding off buying short games until they finally drop in price officially.

Don't know how to make this a poll unfortunately.
 
Less, because I buy some games on the assumption that I will be able to recoup some of my funds later on down the line for other new games.
 
The same or more. I don't buy used (with rare exceptions for non-disc games), so it would only affect what I buy if it drives prices down on older games.

I always want to support the publisher/developer, but I don't think $60 MSRP is necessary or viable given how many games I can play in a given period of time.
 
MUCH less. All of the money I get for selling used games goes back into buying new ones.

I buy a lot more games day 1, new, because used games (selling games however I want) gives me a safety net in case I don't like it.

Games have no value attached to them anymore after I've played them. They're not worth as much when trading them in so I cannot keep in mind that I could potentially get some money out of them if I decided to trade them in.
 
Not really because if there's one thing that it's really good in Europe is that the price-drops are usually fast to hit a lower price.

This is good for me because I'm buying less and less games on Day One.
 
I won't risk buying games if the trade in price is extremely low, and I refuse to pay £40 for a 6 hour campaign.

That's assuming I even buy the console in the first place.
 
Right now I re-sell about 75% of my games on the use game market and get about 60-75% of my value back.

If I know that I can't do this, I would buy probably half the games I buy now.
 
I will likely spend the same amount, as games, sold as new, will still drop in price just like they've done for countless decades past.
 
Less because I'm going to take less changes with games. I wouldn't buy games like Haze, Too Human, The Darkness, etc. In fact, I will probably buy 5 to 6 new games a year rather than the 10 to 11 I do today.
 
Less, all my gaming echosystem is about used games and trade in credit.

Just let me play used games for fuck sakes man....

I will probably spend the same or less. It depends if games continue to drop in price after a few months or not. Nowadays I can buy a used game for half the price a month after the game launched; if I don't buy it that way, I will have to wait a few months to buy it new, also at half the price. However, sometimes I completely forget about the game and end up not buying it at all...
 
Zero US dollars.

I will not spend a single penny on a system that can't continue to play its own games past the life of its online infrastructure.
 
I buy new games and keep them. So, probably about the same. I'll be more inclined to buy digital copies of full games for sure (something I don't do now).
 
I spend less every year than I did the year before, and typically I buy more games every year than the year I did before. I am confident that the power is in my hands, and I don't need to make concessions in my relationship with the industry to put more power in theirs.
 
Nope? I have only bought one used game and that was Ico back when it was impossible to find new copies.
 
If I was stupid enough to buy a DRM console I'd spend way less. Why take chances on games if I'm stuck with them forever?
 
Probably. If they really go through with this, it'll just mean that I'll have to be much more "careful" about the purchases I make.
 
It will be the same. I was debating on going full digital next generation anyway. Now I can have the best of both worlds with full installs from the disc.
 
Operating under the notion I get the console: probably about the same, a bit less, but it depends on how sales go. I rarely bought used, I mainly saved that for when a game was ancient and there were no reasonably priced alternatives from retailers I preferred to buy at (though admittedly at a certain point it really just doesn't matter so I may not have researched well or it was spur of the moment), though I did trade in some games so that can be a problem. It's not something I regularly did though, only if it was still convenient and got a high return, otherwise I opted to keep them most of the time.

I DO think I'll skip on the X1, but with all the crap surrounding it I may have done just that with or without used games as a factor. Hell, if things are exactly the same as they were the last few years I'd have everything I want covered just be Nintendo+Sony+PC anyway.
 
If PS4 is no used, no borrowing games and if I do end up getting one down the line. I'm going to cherry pick games like I never cherry picked before. A game will need to bring the world to it's knees and keep them there for months before I bite. No day one, or week one (looking at you GTA4 and Diablo 3). They will rue the day they went DRM crazy on store bought disk games if they expect me to buy a ton of games.
 
Most likely less since I'll need to be a bit more discerning on what I buy knowing I'll be stuck with it considering the cost.

I'd also miss out on games I would have originally passed over because I didn't think I'd like them or wouldn't be good but ending up being fantastic. Without used game sales, I wouldn't have a chance to pick it up.
 
If mega corporations are going out of their way to fuck me over, then you'd better believe I'll be spending less money on them. Why is this so hard for some of you guys? It's like they're holding a gun to your head.
 
Used games don't affect me. Not being able to lend games to my friends however...

But, if I'm given more frequent digital sales and a Gifting-option I might change my mind.
 
You guys are basically demonstrating why game prices will come down if you can't buy and sell used games. If people spend the same amount (on less games) or (as some people are suggesting) actually spend LESS total, the price of new games has to come down unless game companies stubbornly accept less revenue or reduced # of sales.
 
Probably a bit less, not because I buy used games or sell my old games, purely because I woldn't be able to borrow other peoples games/have people bring them round to see if they're worth getting or not
 
I think it'll stay about the same. The money I save by passing on these consoles will be fed into more indie games, more new experiences on PC, WiiU games I'd otherwise have passed on etc etc.

I feel slightly bad for shunning the hard working developers who will get punished for the faults of the manufacturers, but they can circumvent the boycott by making PC versions, so in the end, it's really up to them if they get my money.
 
Console would lose its advantage over PC (ability to resale, purchase on impulse, share/swap with friends).

In that case, I have no incentive to own consoles.
More money to Amazon/Steam/GoG.

(Except for Activision games. Activision's pricing policies is a great example why DD will not be able to stop corporate greed.)
