jkeeling said:Glad you folks enjoyed the shots. FYI these are from the version I have -- and to be clear, 30 or so hours in, this is the same build I have at home right now and yes it looks like this. Better actually in motion on my 40 inch Bravia via HDMI. The SSX style non-linear tracks couples with insane physics result in some truly dramatic, emergent gameplay on a level that you seriously won't have experienced before.
MotorStorm is a truly fantastic looking game, but you have no idea how well it plays. The damn thing is addictive on a level not seen since Mario Kart. I haven't played multplayer online yet (still being implemented) but it really is shaping up to be one of the all time seminal experiences.
dirtmonkey37 said:the game looks fantastic. I'm surprised they didn't release a demo of this build of the game.

why surprised? i've always been an sf.. err, sony fan at heart. also got resistance.. very enjoyable single-player so far.nelsonroyale said:hmmm...Im surprised you got a ps3...care to sell it to me, course not for an incredibly over inflated price
peace
Not that I've played the PSN demo, but if it looks anything like the pics from this latest build, I really don't understand how you can say something like that with a straight face.ORANGUTAN said:the same complaints i had with the kiosk demo are still very apparent (ugly, low res environements and track).

judging from your posts, i can't say i'm shocked you'd think that, marconelly. i have no bias.. i didn't spend almost $700 to be able to discredit a game on internet forums. the mountains look very underwhelming. the track isn't anything impressive, either. i wish the 2nd race was a mud track rather than solid ground. things i was very impressed with: some of the best lighting i've ever seen and amazing physics. many of the screens posted in this thread are not from a gameplay angle. i'll post full impressions with lots of pics probably late tonight..Marconelly said:Not that I've played the PSN demo, but if it looks anything like the pics from this latest build, I really don't understand how you can say something like that with a straight face.

no need to be condescending. you've admitted that you haven't played the demo.. yet i'm biased.Marconelly said:Good to know.
hey, man..Gaijin To Ronin said:You can save them. Your opinion has no validity at all if you think the demo of Motorstorm is "ugly". I could accept a "not impressed", but ugly?
And Marconelly is a very respected member of gaf because he is a person you can trust when he writes something, so you better stop embarrasing yourself.

could you do me a favor?
i know it might be a lot to ax, but, could you possibly read my post?
the mountain textures and environments are filled with low res textures.. it's extremely inconsistent. the track is as well at times.
you somehow construed that statement into a "guys, he thinks Motorstorm is ugly, SWARM!"..
the lighting is amazing
the physics are amazing
the vehicle models are excellent
i'm strictly speaking of what i described, not the entire game.
dude, are you dense? isn't that exactly what i just said? "ugly, low res environments and tracks".Gaijin To Ronin said:Hey!
I must be blind and fail to appreciate the imperfection of the game (for not saying you are judging it for one track in the demo).
Good, good. Keep it up. I foresee interesting times for you in this forum.
so basically, if you give glowing impressions of this demo, with nary a flaw, your opinion is valid and can be agreed upon. but any criticisms means you're a trolling fanboy with an "invalid" opinion?alterego said:There's nothing wrong with giving your impressions on the demo as many others have but it's kinda obsolete when we have screens and impressions from someone who's played a later build (which is itself still not the final build).

what?
fair enough.. i can't argue with thatalterego said:You've misunderstood. Your impressions are totally valid but we've already got newer screens from a newer build and impressions of that newer build from two sources (IGN and Kikizo).
It's like somebody giving an impression of the E3 build. It's totally fine but what's the point? We can see what it looks like now so impressions of an older build are less relevant.

ORANGUTAN said:king groin, isn't the game hitting retail in a couple of weeks? are they going to continue to improve the visuals for the U.S. version in march? i'm asking, i don't know.
are you serious? you're 'Ajax'... look in the mirror, you're one of the last people here that should commenting on someone's alleged bias. also, i got banned for criticizing nintendo and wii, not sony.Ajax said:First MattXG now ORANGUTAN. They troll until they're banned for a month and when they're unbanned they're start all over again. Why the hell don't these fanboys get permabanned? Half of this thread is ramblings of this annoying troll because this crap is tolerated nowadays. When is this going to stop?
ORANGUTAN said:are you serious? you're 'Ajax'... look in the mirror, you're one of the last people here that should commenting on someone's alleged bias. also, i got banned for criticizing nintendo and wii, not sony.
btw, i have a ps3, do you? am i not allowed to comment on the mountain and track textures of the PSN demo? is that against TOS? what's wrong with you? your post sounds so bitter and... 'serious business'-like. take a deep breath, man..
why did you ignore the content in my post and go off on a completely unrelated tangent? wait, don't answer that, i know why..Ajax said:Go back to where you came from; because of the likes of you every PS3 thread has become a crap fest and every PS fan has been reduced to defending PS3 games from fanboys like you instead of discussing like it would happen in every normal forum. From the time you and your friends started trolling I knew this thread is done.
jaypah said:lol, funniest thread in a while.
so as i understand it there are short cuts on the track that can only be used by the smaller vehicles. what's the point of using the big ass truck then? does it easily push smaller vehicles out of the way?
ORANGUTAN said:why did you ignore the content in my post and go off on a completely unrelated tangent? wait, don't answer that, i know why..
the 'likes of me'? who do you think you are, really? have you taken a look at your post history? not everyone at OA is a rabid xbox fanboy. i'm one of the few that actually owns a ps3 and posts positive things about it on that site. i simply posted my impressions of the PSN demo, with complaints about the mountain and track textures. is that against TOS? i complimented the amazing physics, lighting, car models, fun factor, etc., yet all of that is blindly ignored and everyone jumps on the one complaint i posted and calls bias and trolling. why? who's really the fanboy here? listen to yourself, you sound ridiculous man..Ajax said:Because I don't discuss with the likes of you. And I have played the demo; I'm actually one of the few in my area who have. It's spectacular and the chitchat with you ends here.

again, no response... just "he posts at that other forum".mckmas8808 said:Thanks, that explains alot.
Maybe it's because we have absolutely no idea what you're talking about when it comes to these "low-res environments"?ORANGUTAN said:again, no response... just "he posts at that other forum".
do you discriminate like that in real life too? lol..
Stench said:HE IS OBVIOUSLY THE ONLY PERSON WHO OWNS A PS3 ON THESE FORUMS
am i dreaming? someone actually debating the content of my posts rather than the fact that i post at another internet forum..Stench said:Maybe it's because we have absolutely no idea what you're talking about when it comes to these "low-res environments"?
Aside from the slow-motion crash sequences, in which the camera gets extremely close to the ground textures, the environments are insane. When watching the replay clips in-game, it looks almost photorealistic.
The only time the environments don't hold up are when, as I said above, the camera gets close-up, but that happens to pretty much every single game on the planet.
So, uhh, what were you saying, again?
