IGN Podcast Beyond's Comments About PS4 Exclusive Lineup

It's Ryan McCaffrey. He's pretty much the biggest Microsoft shill in the industry. The other guys at IGN probably know it's best to just nod and smile whenever he speaks.

It's not a big deal. He's not hurting anybody. It's actually a bit cute in a similar way to how a kitten trying to chase its own tail is cute

Besides Wii u has better exclusives than both combined

List wars, whatever, forget that. What really drives me crazy is when they keep vastly overstating how well Knack sold, especially when it comes up like every few weeks.

Xbox fan has bias opinion on exclusives from favorite console. News at 12.

OP, it doesn't matter. The world obviously doesn't care either seeing as the sales and the reviews doesn't lie so who cares what he says. Plus, IGNs opinion isn't exactly worth shit anyways so it's not a big deal. Brush it off.

There's a reason I don't watch or read IGN. They have nothing of value to offer.

This is an entirely subjective matter. I could see someone preferring Xbox over PlayStation or vice versa, but to definitively state that it is a fact? No. I'm sorry.

I find it hilarious how they rag on Sony for lack of Fall releases, but completely ignore the lack of Xbox releases in the Spring where Sony typically is now. It's just timing and it's funny that people are making a big deal over it.

P.S. Japan doesn't count either for some reason.

McCaffrey is the biggest MS fanboy next to Timdog. As already mentioned, he actually begged MS on Twitter to let him host their E3 conference a couple of years ago. Complete laughing stock.

In my opinion Xbox has the more consistent lineup in terms of quality, but the best games in those lists are on PlayStation 4

That said, a good chunk of those titles are not exclusives since they're on PC as well.

Either way I don't think either console has a stellar exclusive lineup and it really just boils down to personal taste

Only western AAA games count?

To the American games media, yes. Visual novels, JRPGs, single player adventure games and fighting games don't count as real games obviously.

I have really enjoyed the exclusives on both PS4 and Xbox One. To say that the Xbox One has "unarguably" the better exclusives is obnoxious.

I like McCaffery, and it's not exactly a rare opinion to say the Xbox exclusives line-up has been better so far. It is also getting harder to even identify an exclusive, inside was exclusive for a month while witness and firewatch are coming to xbox seemingly out of left field.

The guy loves video games and is able to have opinions. And if he was actually "begging" to work for Microsoft I don't think he'd do it over twitter guys. Tough crowd here

^ 2nd person to admit to listening to IGN.

Sorry for the slight derail, but IGN still has content keeping up with. Nintendo Voice Chat is a very good podcast if you are in the Nintendo ecosystem. Peer has a wealth of experience and a unique Japanese perspective, Jose is on top of his Nintendo knowledge and Brian is also very well versed. It's a very good podcast.

McCaffery's podcast with the Xbox executives was very good too.

Remember when Arthur Gies and a couple of others were insisting Microsoft won last gen because Japan doesn't count? There's no arguing with fanboys, just nod your head and slowly back away.

Looks pretty even comparison to me, just depends on your taste.

Also I played two of those Xbox "exclusives" on PC. Ori and Titanfall. So I don't really think of those as Xbox Games.

McCaffery is a comically OTT MS fanboy, so what else do you really expect to hear if you willingly subject yourself to him?

The "Xbox has better exclusives" narrative is certainly an opinion you'll get rammed down your throat on a regular basis in parts of the games media (And Neogaf, lets face it) if you read around it for long enough, but an opinion is all it is, so who cares? Not worth losing any sleep over.

I don't get this list? Do first party games (especially indies) not count? Why does it only have to be so called AAA games? But if that's the case why is Ori in there and not something like Crypt of the Necrodancer which scored about the same as Ori? Same for SOMA?

But he did do it over Twitter...

I haven't clicked on IGN in a long time, but I'm familiar with the personalities. Without listening/watching, I expect there to be heavy bias.

It seems that they're comparing all of the exclusives from 2013 to now? The only actual factual part of the exclusive debate is that PS4 has more quantity over Xbox One. I can understand if some people would rather play Halo, Gears, Forza, Dead Rising, Sunset Overdrive, and Ori over most stuff on PS4, because those are actually really good games.

For me and a lot of people, PS4 is the most desirable console because it has a lot of major games that Xbox One doesn't have.

Ryan McCaffrey is the biggest Xbox fanboy in the mainstream gaming press, and the new Beyond group doesn't have a deep knowledge of Playstation, they are more general gaming/3rd party guys. If you want Playstation centric coverage, check out Kinda Funny, where the old Beyond crew is at. They have plenty to say about good PS4 exclusives.

When on the gaming side of the internet, remember the one golden rule. Ryan McCaffrey is always wrong.

He's a ms shill without being paid. Google up Ryan McCaffrey Twitter Microsoft and laugh at the shit he spews. Dude is just the worst thing at ign and there are already a bunch of terrible things there

Ryan "that's my understanding that there is no difference" McCaffrey

Can you imagine what a podcast would be like if nobody on it was biased? I'm sure none of them would deny they have biases—they're opinions, after all.

As long as personal opinion doesn't compromise standard editorial ethics, I don't see an issue. It just inspires further discussion, which is healthy and good.

By the way, nobody can claim that either lineup is 'objectively' better, as such a thing doesn't exist (remember, Metacritic is a subjective scale too). Maybe we should just enjoy the games instead.

Eh this thread is bound to ignite list warz, cant we just accept that both boxes have a solid line up and move on. And mcaffery is the most bias fan boy ive ever witnessed work professionally, dont take what he says to heart

This gen sucks for exclusives imo. Hardly worth debating what's better because both lineups are pretty poor. Compared to last gen anyway.

Bloodborne is GOTG though.

The top Xbox One "exclusive" is also on PC and 360 and isn't even a 90 on metacritc. Meanwhile PS4's top 2 exclusives are both 90+ and only on PS4. Yeah...
