IGN producer gets irritated after Harada tweet

It's pretty obviously a misunderstanding and Harada trying to pull a joke that he probably didn't understand the full implications of.

He later deleted the tweet and apologised so I really can't understand why this thread is in this perpetual loop of shouting about SJW and GG, like seriously what the hell do you people have to gain by doing this.

Try to educate, not ridicule. Part of being the bigger person is ultimately that if possible you'll be the one to steer stuff into a productive place.

Exactly. Unfortunately the nature of the internet is to grab the pitchforks and humiliate the person so you can instantly feel like the bigger person instead of actually having to work toward it.

One of the biggest problem about this is that that there are plenty of people who are eager to teach others what words like SJW mean, and many - if not most - of them do not have good intentions.

I'd have zero problem with Bandai Namco blacklisting IGN from Tekken 7 availability after this. No interview availability, no advance copy for review.

There's a right way and a wrong way to criticize someone for what is deemed to be a poor message. Infantile name-calling is not the right way.

Ehhhh I dunno.
It's a bit of an extreme move. Harada & Murphy should talk things out and clear the air instead.

That's fine. That would actually be preferable instead of what Gav did.

Who cares? Who cares if he thinks Tekken 7 is a garbage game? Why does that bother people? Like, its one dude in the gaming press whose probably BAD at fighting games like the vast majority of those people. I'm amazed that people can get so riled up over that.

It's so fucking insignificant of an opinion that it amazes me there was a thread for this. It's like me shitting on God Hand in an action game thread: like who cares?

Did that ign guy have a bad day or something? What an overreaction... And having the job he has it is not professional at all.

I've just seen Juri's latex costume in SFV. Harada is placing too much stock on SJWs - I honestly don't think they'd care much about risque Tekken outfits. But then he probably meant it all as a joke anyway? Or maybe he genuinely believes there's an element of truth to what he wrote.

Either way, the IGN producer's response is embarrassingly petulant.

Pretty much. Harada's comment was a little dumb but he wasn't deliberately being a massive asshole. IGN guy was very much deliberately being an asshole.

To be clear, even if Harada didn't know the full implications of his tweet, he was still deliberately being an asshole. He was just doing it in a way that he thought was joking.

I just hope Harada learned from this exchange & will be a bit more conscientious when communicating in English in the future.

It would be nice if he actually gave reasons why Tekken 7 is a garbage game. Did he ever write a preview explaining why he thinks it is garbage?

Why is this Gav guy is using a black thumbs up in his tweets you don't get to use that bruv. 😠👎🏾

Also, Harada done fucked up he knows it.

No it wasn't acceptable, The IGN guy was in the wrong and really looks like an idiot for it.

Nah, Harada absolutely deserved to be called out on it. His joke was moronic and reflected poorly on him. And when you make moronic jokes, being called "garbage" is honestly not one of the harshest responses I'd reasonably expect you to receive.

It's a derogatory term used by primarily gators to refer to anyone who discusses social issues or representation on the internet.

See where I'm from it's used to describe people that poke their neck out in issues that they care little to nothing about for the sake of their own self promotion and so people think they are a solid dude.

Or is that somehow the same thing just in the correct context?

Threads like this are always funny. So much outrage for a term created to attack/shame people wanting equality in the world.

Going to be that guy:

Isn't the term co-opted by people wanting to attack/shame those wanting equality? As far as I'm aware, it was created by those people wanting equality, but mocking those who are only interested in picking Internet fights over issues that are too minor for anyone to really care about.

This thread does not seem to contain any worthwhile discussion, so we're closing it down.
