IGN: What Does Diablo 3 Really Look Like on Consoles?

I thought that looked absolutely fine.

Plus we already know the console version's 60 FPS, so at least that part's down. All that HUD isn't gonna be a bother for single player anyway.

I'm in, but I will be waiting for next-gen for sure. Which is a bit of a shame in that I know a few people who are, for some baffling reason, buying this on PS3 when it launches. I know a surprising number of Diablo 3 super-fans, and they all own PS3s.

EDIT: I'm fine with the UI shown. Sure it's a bit busy and the screen is cluttered but it's local multiplayer, no getting around that. Small price to pay to be able to all sit together and melt demons.

2 weeks ago Blizzard said they just got PS4 dev kits.

Which means they haven't even started a PS4 version, and if nobody buys the PS3 version, its not likely the PS4 version will see the light of day.

I'm trying to make the argument that people should buy the PS3 version and not wait, because of this, plus you're probably going to be waiting a while for PS4 version to come out.

It's about what you'd expect from 4 player and button-mapped attacks and such, but it could stand to at least have some dynamic alpha blending when important objects go behind them

It's a Blizzard game. No way it'll sell that bad. Porting is supposedly very easy now, so I don't see them cancelling the game.

I for one sure as hell won't buy the 720p version when the 1080p version is around the corner.

Oh, the pick up button mapped to the same button as one of your skills? Really? Is that really actually happening? Well... I can't possibly see that being at all annoying

what the hell happened to Blizzard, they used to be so good now they just cash in on a failed game and can't even do that properly...

Baldurs Gate... Diablo... :/

Unless he's talking about

On the PS2

Which I loved... (I'm a fan of the 'real' Baldur's Gate games as well, mind you)

I think this UI looks great. This is 4-player local co-op, so obviously information about all characters needs to be on the screen, and I think they did a good job keeping it simple and having enough room to see everything going on in the game. Complaining about this clutter in 4-player local co-op would be like complaining about the small screens in 4-player splitscreen in an FPS; it's just a small, necessary inconvenience to be able to play on the couch with your friends.

I know it's not a popular opinion, but I absolutely loved it at E3. It was one of my favorite games I tried out there, once you play it -- it kind of hits you that this is a console made game. Doing COOP with my friend felt like the good ol' couch coop dungeon crawler experiences. And offline play, no auction house, some extra mechanics makes it the definitive version... and also, the UI is really intuitive and changes based on what you are doing and provides quick ITEM comparison on the fly -- really neat.

I'm actually really excited to get it. Even stopped playing through with my GF on PC, so we can start on consoles.

And also, what the hell you guys talking about? The screen has a lot of shit on it? It's 4 player coop. With two people it was fine and you are playing this on a TV, you are offered much more screen space.

I absolutely hated D3 for PC, but this looks surprisingly fun. No way in hell I'll pay more than $20 for it, but I can see it gaining some popularity.

Anybody else get some classic Gauntlet vibes from this?

LMFAO, what a horrendous failure of design - that Barb seems to be struggling along so badly with the controls...

Did you listen to the video at all? 3 of the 4 players had never even played Diablo (in any form) before. There were no tutorials and they started the game as level 30-something with no instructions.

As long as it is better than Sacred 2, I will have my entertainment, I guess.

But I really would like to play Torchlight 2 on Consoles. First Game was a great port.

This reminds me of one of the (many) ways New Blizzard ruined Diablo: the fucking color palette. It's so not Diablo. Too much pink, purple etc everywhere. I hate it. Hate it! All those pastel colors completely kill the atmosphere and make it look like your run-of-the-mill mmo game.

lol the only thing this is close to in the Baldur's Gate series is the console games though.

That's what he's referring too. The Dark Alliance games on console were fantastic along with the main Baldurs Gate games on PC.

I put in over 100 hours in on the PC but got burned out farming for gold just to buy gear on the AH.

I'm excited to play this on ps3 to get an AH free experience. Hopefully the loot drops are a better.

Looks good, can't wait to play some co-op with my xbox only friends.

So exactly like the pc version then.

Never played diablo... Wanna play diablo... And after seein this on pc the console version looks like terrible. I was waiting on the ps4 version but Blizzard makes it sound like they haven't even started it yet, so whatever, I won't hold my breath

This seems to the most current active Diablo 3 thread for the console version. Is anyone working on the OT? It's out in a week from now.

I don't think there is much interest in the PS3/360 games.

Most of us either already have the PC version or are waiting for the PS4 version. I will be double-dipping the PS4 version, partly just so I can buy a console Blizzard game. It's been so long! Grats to them.

I'm a little interested in seeing the balance difference with no auction house. Automated auction houses IMO ruin game balance and game social systems and speed of loot introduction.

Blizzard is wrong for not giving PC gamepad support, sigh . . . I'll buy the PS4 version.

Meh. I love me my ps3 and dual sticks are great for some things, but a keyboard and mouse are just better for others. Im quite curious to know how placement spells work like Leap, spike trap, blizzard ect. I just don't see how you can quickly and effectively cover the screen with precision and placement for those abilities.

If they were to announce at Blizzcon that Reaper of Souls was coming day and date for consoles and PCs, I would make the switch. As it stands, no ty, despite how fun comfy couch D3 sounds.

Potentially Stupid Question Incoming:

If I like Marvel Ultimate Alliance and X-Men Legends will I like this?
Yes, the gameplay of Diablo III is outstanding and incredibly polished. It has a fantastic "feel" to it.

Most of the reasons that people complaining on message boards hate it are nitpicks, and because it's not as good as Diablo II.
