IGN's top 100 games of last gen

Bioshock was my favorite game of last generation.

The game was perfect in almost every way from the awesome story that irrational told with memorable characters, and meaningful choices, to the dark and frantic combat that took place in an underwater city littered with horrible creatures begging for your blood.

based on my enjoyment.
1.Xenoblade Chronicles
2.Fallout New Vegas
3.Zelda Skyward Sword
4.Fallout 3
5.Sin and Punishment Star Successor

Thank you for wording it right.

People randomly saying game to be on the first place they CLEARLY will not be looks silly.

I think TLOU, The Walking Dead S01, and Fallout are big contenders.

Portal has to win this.

IGN won't go with something like Spelunky or Geometry Wars which deserve more recognition than they get from mainstream websites and Portal is one of the most perfect experiences you can have. It really is better than 99% of games released this generation.

Only the lowest 10 have been revealed yet and I'm already massively in disagreement with this list.

#99 Viva Piñata 2, #95 Vanquish and #82 Halo 3 smh IGN, smh.

We can already guess what the #1 game will be >.>

Wait, according to them Skylanders is better than Smash Bros., Skyward Sword and Vanquish? And Dance Central is higher rated than Vanquish?

Am I the only one who cannot take this serious? I mean, REALLY?!?

Yup. TLOU, Journey, UC2, LBP are most likely going to be in the top 10.

Vanquish is nowhere close to TLOU. I did enjoy Vanquish as well though.

How do you even compare the two? One of them is pure gameplay, the other is more of a cinematic experience

I enjoyed AC4 and MKWii way more than Brawl and Skyward Sword, so IGN's list is already wrong for me.

By how much you liked it of course. I like chocolate more than vegetables. They are different but there is nothing wrong with that statement.

Halo 3 is #82? That's the funniest thing I've ever seen. So your telling me a game that was at the top of Xbox live leaderboards for years, probably 1/5th the life span of the 360, is #82? Lolololololololol.

There are a handful of games listed in #100 through #81 that are more worthy than TLOU.

Doesn't mean that it won't be #1 on IGN's list.

Think about it. This is IGN. Realistically, they're going to have the most popular games of last gen on top, like TLOU, GTA IV/V, Super Mario Galaxy, and probably Assassin's Creed II. Skyrim will likely be high on the list as well.

Vanquish @ 95.

List is irrelevant CONFIRMED.

Though considering it's IGN, I'm honestly surprised they remember to include Vanquish at all.

It could be GOTY last year, maybe. But yeah, it's probably going to be TLOU, even though Alan Wake was a better example of that style of game.

I don't care about the order, but I hope Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in TIme, Valkyria Chronicles, and LittleBigPlanet show up somewhere on the list. I can kind of seeing them all being forgotten though, except maybe LBP.

Also, petty or not, I'm a little pleased to see Brawl, Skyward Sword, and MKWii all relatively low on the list. Those were my biggest disappointments last gen (aside from Sonic 4, FFXIII, Super Paper Mario, and Other M, but I imagine none of those will be on the list at all).

SPOILERS

1.
The Last of Us
2.
Super Mario Galaxy
3.
Uncharted 2
4.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
5.
Grand Theft Auto V

Yea Nintendo's output has been the major letdown last gen for me, that includes the awful wii hardware.

I wonder if DLC will be factored into this, Minerva's Den should easily get BioShock 2 a top 20 place if so.

SPOILERS

The Last of Us

Super Mario Galaxy

Uncharted 2

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Grand Theft Auto V

Wouldn't be my top five but I wouldn't argue with it

Skyward Sword is so underrated. It drives me insane.

Truly. I don't get it. Things about it could have been trimmed down, but I found it to be a completely satisfying, fulfilling and engaging title. A Link Between Worlds was awesome, but it didn't give me the same sense of "fullness." It was a fun and quick game to play but I think it made me realize that I actually do prefer the direction the series has gone in instead of just being a simple "here you go, you're free, now explore little bird!" experience. I do like that and I'm fine with it. but the thing is, once you gain access to more of the world I still felt like it turned me loose and had a great sense of exploration so I didn't think that element was missing whatsoever, and the story was by far the best in the series.

Red Dead Redemption was my personal favorite, it blew me away.

Skyward Sword is top 10 material. Top 20 at the absolute lowest.
Smh IGN.

Skyward Sword was pretty bad in my opinion, only 3D Zelda I've yet to finish. I just couldn't take Fi's handholding anymore and while I appreciate Nintendo trying something new with the whole "the world itself is a puzzle instead of you just running from dungeon to dungeon" kind of thing, it didn't really work for me. The art style, music, and controls were all great, but I definitely don't think it deserves top 10, maybe not even top 100 (and this is coming from someone who's favorite series is Zelda).

Just think that if they included handhelds a fair few of those in the outer reaches of the top 100 would have been bumped off the list.

It's stupid they excluded handhelds anyway, TWEWY should be near the top.

Apart from the fact that it offers almost no challenge I agree.

The top of the list is less interesting to me than the lower 50 or so. We all know what games will be near the top, I like seeing games I may have missed for whatever reason.
