I'll probably never play Battlefield 4 again

I've played over 20 hours on PS4 and had minimal issues. Still, I'd trade some crashes for a functional Rush mode in a heartbeat. Rush in BF4 is a complete joke, sadly.

BC2 HD, please.

I'm having a blast with the game on PS4. In fact, it's basically the only game I play right now, aside from Rocksmith.

I DO get a crash from time to time...I've had maybe 5-10 since the launch of the game (about 60 hours of playtime). It's annoying, but it's not a dealbreaker for me.

That said, I am very firm in saying that I will not buy BF5, OR Battlefront, until I know for sure that they do not have these issues. My main issue with the game is not the crashing, but the netcode. I just recently learned about this "server tickrate," and about how BF4's tickrate is very low compared to other shooters (10hz). Crashing: Doesn't bother me so much. Getting shot while safely behind a 5 foot thick concrete wall: Bothers me quite a bit.
Getting shot behind a wall is usually the result of lag compensation. To the lagger it looks like he shot you before you dove. The game doesn't have a 10hz tick rate but it compresses packets and handles them 3 at a time.

I'm crash free but I get hit with the sound bug a lot. I'm convinced that it's a server issue.

Agreed with OP!

I've actually gone back to playing Killzone Shadowfall multiplayer because, well, it works! BF4 is a stunning game, and if it worked then for me it would be one of the best multiplayer experiences I've ever had. But in its still-broken current state, I just don't feel like spending any more time with it. Every single match at the very least I'm dealing with minor niggles of things not working as intended and they seem like simple niggles that aren't necessarily game-breakers but should have been fixed long ago.

I'm another one in the "EA isn't getting any more of my money" boat. I've tried to defend them to get my friends playing... But EA is constantly sabotaging the best games it has to offer so there's just no point. It's a crime that they hold the keys to some of my favourite game series.

Some of these threads strike me as advertising for first page. Titanfall beta going strong then threads about BF4 come along. Crazy how some have all of these issues still but most don't.

We need game owner verification in these forums. Anybody can say anything and people just take It at face value.

Sucks if all true though. Don't give up OP you already spent cash on the dlc.

I finally got Premium yesterday and had no issues at all with the new map pack.

BF4 gets a lot of hate and rightfully so - 4 months post-launch here and they are still having some issues with things like lag and bad netcode that I don't think we'll ever see completely removed, but the game is MUCH, MUCH better now than it was at launch.

While there are other less laggy games out there Battlefield still brings a lot to the table in the way that it does things. The battles are big, the vehicles are great, the "feel" of the game is just right for me - not too slow, but not too twitchy. There's a reason I like the series, and it's just something I've not found in any other FPS franchise. I can't stand CoD's multiplayer at all, and F2P games like Planetside 2 just haven't hooked me either even though they offer big battles and vehicles.

I'll still continue to support Battlefield and its devs, but that doesn't mean I'm not disappointed at all with the way BF4 rolled out of the gate. The crashes sucked, the loss of campaign saves was unacceptable, and the netcode needs improving, but... there's just something about the game and the squad of 4 other friends that I play nightly with that will always keep me coming back.

I think this is the game that killed the battlefield franchise for me. I have no expectation that they will learn anything from this horrific clusterfuck of a game when bf5 rolls around.

I wasn't super pleased with the BF franchise since 2142 anyway. I'm just fed up with EA and DICE taking advantage of their customers. I'd be lying if I said I'd never buy an EA game again, but Battlefields probably a done deal....... Until 2143 comes out. (Crosses fingers)

Pretty much sums up my feelings towards this game. When it works it's a blast and I can look past the netcode issues.

Can't wait to get back home and play it this weekend.

I never had a single problem with the PS4 version in multiplayer.

That being said...I started the single player campaign 3 different times and had my save deleted 3 different times.

Also had a CTD in my first match.
Funny enough I asked myself "Lets see if they fixed this" minutes before it died.

If anything this completely cemented any future EA games not being bought on day 1. Granted I should have been doing this for a long time, but you sometimes give into the hype.

BF4 is an awesome game when you're not crashing to the desktop, having the whole map silenced due to the buggy weapon, experience insane rubber banding on a 64 player server even when everyone is below 50 ping, having a map not end due to the demolition object spawning beneath the map, suddenly having your computer going to a crawl due to buggy code in the object destruction.

But other than those, the game is great!
Will be trying again tonight, hopefully it was just 'first date jutters' that caused the crash.

Oh and top it off, my stats wiped after the crash. So fingers crossed it's there tonight!

I think some people do indeed just have worse luck than others.

And there are yet more that probably haven't played the game and are just going by what they've heard.

I had more luck last night then I have ever had with BF4. I forget how much I love this game when it works, better than TF for me at least. I did have one match that never loaded and had to exit the game, but that was it. Sad when that is an improvement.

It's returned me to home a few times since i bought it for the XO but it's so quick to get back in especially if your in a party i've not really found it that annoying.

The rubberbanding has gotten worse for me on PS4 over the last few weeks too. It used to only happen consistently after the levolution event on certain maps. But 2 nights in a row last week was getting brutal lag from the beginning of each match.. havnt touched it since, even let my psn sub run out since bf4 is the only reason i was keeping it active.
Im seriously considering trading this game..
The fate of my copy will all depend on how stable it plays the day before Second Assault drops for non premium players.

So you think people saying they aren't experiencing major issues are lying?

Some might be lying. Can you say every person that starts/replies to a thread, is honest? Game is nothing like the wreck at launch.

Wish we had a verification system for threads, since anyone, can say anything. One week ago had gun vanish from my hands for about 10 sec. Major issues for me ended after second patch.

Shame because game is great, but like all of the launch games needed multiple patches.

.

I'm really considering selling my copy. I was trying to play with a friend last night, and the game kept lagging, glitching, yanking me out of the session.

I knew it wasn't my connection because Killzone was working just fine.

Stupid game

Because DLC = patch right?

Should have thought this through more if one more crash was gonna make you drop the game forever

looks like EA gets the win here

What an asinine post.

It should fucking work. EA are engaging in consumer fraud by selling something that isn't even functional.

The game had been stable for weeks - finally - but the last patch introduced frequent 'sound loop' crashes again, for me at least.

For me it's the opposite. Besides being stuck in the loading screen when the map changes, I never had any issues. Now when I enter a vehicle there literally is a 50:50 shot for the game to crash.

It's not crashing on me, but occasionally it'll fail to join a game. Textures and sound take an age to load in with every new map for some reason only Dice would know. My biggest issue, however, is that they still (!) haven't fixed the camera view when spawning in a vehicle. Every second vehicle, it seems, I have no control over the camera. If I'm in a boat or a bike or a jeep or a helicopter, that's fine, because I can quickly hop out and back in again.

Not so with the jets.

I can't believe they still haven't fixed this, which I and others have had since launch. It is mind-boggling to me that they haven't managed to sort out such a simple issue.

For me the game is a lot more stable than ever. I've been playing it a lot more after avoiding it like the plague until mid-January.

There are still problems with rubberbanding and lag in some maps and air superiority crashes 9 out of 10 times I try to play. On Conquest Large I've had 1 crash in the last month so it's definitely better for me.

That said it's still not in a condition that would be "shippable". Which I really doubt it will ever be.

Some might be lying. Can you say every person that starts/replies to a thread, is honest? Game is nothing like the wreck at launch.

It's everything the wreck it was. DICE continue to fumble with the patches, and the netcode is still in shambles and will likely never be fixed. Not to mention the maddening class and map balance.

It's a fun game for someone who wants to fly helicopters or roll in tanks blowing up helpless infantry, or the always lovable rooftop sniper, but as a competitive first-person shooter it's terribly inept. Every Battlefield entry before this was better, and one can only hope that DICE feels the sting when they try to release BF5.

After playing the Titanfall beta on PC, I'm right there with you, OP. I have Premium on PS4 and I tried it yesterday. Between the crap map changes and the insane rubber band lag....peace out.

I've had crashes in every match in Second Assault. Its fine if its just a few but every time? It's fucking ridiculous. I hope DICE fixes that as soon as possible because its unplayable for me now.

I excitedly download Second Assault on Origin. Yay! A new DLC! That means everything is fixed, right?

Half a match in, the game crashes.

Fuck this, I'm out.

I stopped playing cause I refuse to reinstall a 4th time due to the sound bug.

Maybe in a few months issue can be ironed out to point crashes, lag and the sound issues aren't an annoying pain.

People need to stop posting about how this game is fixed because it's not. The whole netcode is totally ****ed up. Just go play when it's busy for lag galore. Some maps have more lag than others. Also there's still loads of bugs and framerate has tanked with the last couple of patches. Second Assault runs like crap. PS4 version.

Pretty much this ^. I hugely regret spending $50 on premium naively thinking that DICE would fix the game. Not only did the game try to get me to buy premium again to play second assault (PS4 version), but it also had even worse latency issues and horrible FPS drops on metro. I find that latency makes 64 player conquest a complete farce, with 20 player DOM and TDM being the only consistent game modes. TBH I get Battlefield to have big 64 player matches. If I'm going to be playing 10v10 I might as well play Titanfall...

Can you sort by ping on console? I always play on a server hosted in !y state and there's zero lag. Ping is usually around 15 when I play.

I'm from Europe and always play on European servers for best results on a 200Mbps internet connection yet still during rushour it lags.

Sold my copy a few days ago. I'm not a big fan of FPS games, I just got caught up in the launch hype. My experience with the game was not a good one. Whilst playing through the single player campaign my save file was corrupted, twice, both times whilst more than half way through the campaign. Multiplayer would not work properly for a long while, when it did I found it to be not to my liking.

I got £33 for the game, I'm very happy with that.

Haven't had a crash in weeks. Couldn't tell you the last time the game crashed on me even if I had to. PS4 version.

Thinking of getting Premium, to be honest. This and Titanfall are likely to be my 2 go to shooters for the next 12-18 months.

I feel like I'm in the same boat, the crashes and lost save data soured me on this game so much I have almost no desire to boot it back up. Which is a shame because the core gameplay is great, I just don't play with friends anymore so it's always randoms who aren't using a mic, and that just wears fast on me, especially when it's crashing.

Sometimes I've booted, played for like 2 min and it crashes, and I just say fuck this and turn it off. They have completely lost me as a customer for their future games, the only thing I'm really interested in is Battlefront, but I will absolutely be waiting a few months after release to see how that pans out.
