Im about ready for Destiny 2, who's with me?

Yes.

I feel there is a lot they can do if they build it from the ground up for current gen without the last gen handicap. Plus they've learned a lot from Destiny 1 that can't just be patched in.

I think a ground up sequel could do wonders for this game vs just pumping out new content.

In particular the city structure, mission structure, and world connectivity could be improved massively.

Hell just getting rid of half of the load times would be massive.

I've been ready since we beat Wrath of the Machine Hard.
Got 100% trophies and all, really fun game but we always stopped playing once we had accomplished everything so my playtimer isn't probably not too much. I hope Destiny 2 will offer loads of Strikes and Raids, those are best content the game offers, especially raids, they're unforgettable.

Loved Destiny 1 for a few hundred hours, it gave me some of my finest gaming moments ever. Getting the Vex out of Vault of Glass hard.....amaze.

But I bailed just after House of Wolves, me and my fireteam were all done with the grind.

Periodically I feel like I might jump back in, but then I read the Community thread and realise its all become incomprehensible to me now, plus I'm not sure I have the time to sink into a single game any more.

"I want destiny 2..." are you going to finish your sentence OP? ;p

But no, will Destiny 2 be the last nail in the coffin for Halo?

Yeah, I can say I'm finally ready for Destiny 2, as well. I probably put around 500-ish hours in the original across all expansions, now, and I'm finally having a hard time getting the desire to play it much anymore. I never got max light, but I've just got fatigue overall. I don't mind the RNG drops, but the constant leveling and economy changes have worn me out.

Hopefully they've got a solid system planned for D2 that doesn't feel quite as grindy. Grinding is fine, but I need some sense of steady progression.

No way. Halo might not be as big as it used to be but I don't think it's going anywhere. Two different games so why would Destiny 2 kill it off?

Hell yes. I have over a thousand hours and just recently after finishing the new raid on hard, I have taken a break to play other games I missed.

People always ask how can people put so much time into a game thay is content strived but IMO with the new Destiny: the collection edition with all dlc, it's one of the best values in gaming right now. There's tons of content in that package.

Mainly though, people were coming back and addicted because of the gameplay. It's still the most satisfying fps game to play this gen because well, Bungie. I loved the pvp from year one more then year two and miss the hand cannon meta and CBMM. I feel the Crucible and trials can be a shit show right now because of SBMM. Luke Smith if you're reading this, GIVE US DEDICATED SERVERS AND 60 FPS FOR Destiny 2(or atleast for pvp) and you will make so many of your fans happy.

I think with how popular this game has become, Destiny 2 is going to sell a lot but it will also be a game thag will have huge expectations and I personally think Bungie will deliver. They had made great strides with Destiny over these last afew years to get it to its current state.

They just announced the winter event. I assume the last thing they will do is a big "fuck it" event next year where they bring the old raids up to current LL and let us run around with a Vision of Confluence at LL 400.

Because fuck it.

It´s the lowest hanging fruit - they should just go for it.

this and still have to find an auto rifle with Abyss Defiant stability

I was a fan of Destiny in the beginning. I never agreed with their DLC pricing. Once my season pass ran out I refused to buy any more dlc, when there were plenty of new and longer games I could play for that same price if not cheaper. I just couldn't get behind it and its too late to buy it now because all my destiny friends have moved on and will be getting the next dlc so I'll perpetually be one dlc behind. They start pricing the DLC comparably and maybe I'll dip into it. I'll probably get Destiny 2 main game but again if the dlc is priced out of my range then it'll get traded in. The 2nd reason I stopped playing because I didn't feel as though the classes were balanced. I'd rather not get into it because its moot to argue about that now, but for destiny 2 I hope they balance out the classes better than what they are now.

I have played hundreds of hours and I love most of my time but man did ROI just wear me thin. I had a ton of fun playing to get my moments of triumph literally the day before they were due to get my shirt but once ROI launched nothing about it made me have fun. I'm really hoping Destiny 2 is a complete overhaul of what people think of when they say the word Destiny.

To me, it heavily depends on how Destiny 2 is handled - I like the game, mecahnically - it's fun to platform and play.

But I have a lot of issues with the rest of the game:

1) All the content is tied to the latest DLC, like it or not. If you're already at the endgame for the previous expansion, you won't be able to do much of anything when the new one is out.

2) Once you finish the plotline for the main story, all you have left to do are dailies, PvP, and the raid. This isn't so bad at first, because the raid is challenging in its own way, and for those that enjoy PvP, you never really run out of content. In my case, however, PvP got annoying after a few rounds (namely because I could go 20-3 in one round, then 2-10 the next?? idk I guess I'm awful), so I'd just do the raid and log off for the rest of the week.

3) This is also relevant to point 1, but: all the gear is useless when the next expansion hits. Did you just grind for days on end to get 335? Grats, the latest expac gives you LL345 blue guns with little-to-no effort! (I understand that's vertical progression, but don't make everything obsolete right off the bat)...

4) The world is so tiny and instanced. Remember that "you see that mountain? You can go there!" stuff before release? RIP. I hope Destiny 2 does actually improve on this, because seeing more of the world would be interesting.

5) The lazy grimoire stuff. Holy shit, what an awful way to expound on the lore.

6) Of course, the loot system being rng hell, but well, what can you do.

I think there's more, but I can't really think of it right now. I really hope they improve on all these fronts, because Destiny played really well.

Loved my time with Destiny. Still play it, I'm nearly a 100 hours in.
But yeah, i'm more than ready for Destiny 2.

I'm just hoping the next game is a bit more coherent and fits together better, instead of just being a bunch of random missions with a tower visit in the middle.

they also need to sort out the amount of RNG and get rid of light level.

Our group plays as much as we can, but we've got people at 350 light wanting to do the raid, but they are blocked out of doing it because they can't grind as much as other people. I hate the artificial blocks they stick in place. The challenge should be due to the content, not your personal life dictating how much you can play.

On your first two points, I'm not sure how Destiny makes any sense if it's not tied to the DLC that is released. I think that's just part of how things play out with this type of game, you're not playing the Last of Us. Which leads me into the second point that Destiny has never been about the mainline story but always been about end game activities to me (Raids, Crucible/Banner/Trials, grinding to get awesome gear). Grimoire should absolutely be integrated into the game and the lore fleshed out in game a lot more I agree on that 100%.

Based on what we heard, they want to integrate the social hubs into the game where we won't be going in and out of action to get to the tower. PC has pretty much been confirmed, and hopefully this means XBox/PC cross-play which is important to me since my social groups have always been XBox based. Dedicated servers for PvP have to be a given based on the community backlash and hopefully a new engine that allows them to get new content in faster. I think the future is bright for Destiny regardless, but I'm a complete fanboy.

As someone who only played up till The Dark Below/House of Wolves - i want a clean new slate with Destiny 2.

I don't even feel compelled to start again and to play Catch up with the new expansions - from all of those updates that ruined the experience for me during that time when i played last, i am in the boat of gimmie destiny 2 that is actually hefty and full of content as advertised from he get-go lol

Now i remember loving the Destiny Demo and then playing the full game ... -_-

I still have to buy Rise Of Iron but I'm kind of eager to see what they have in store for Destiny 2.

I want to see the changes they'll make to PVP.

I really hope they shake things up.

Also not release the game as it was on release. What an awful, short campaign with no content until the taken king

I definitely agree that the meat of the game lies in the endgame, but say (as in my case), you don't have RoI, but you'd still like to do some dailies or something to enjoy what you DO own — the answer is you can't, because dailies are RoI only now. No Nightfall, no weeklies, nothing. You can do the raids, but why would you?

It just doesn't seem totally fair for someone to be locked out of everything (by which I mean the endgame) just because they don't own the latest $30 expac.

But I want to have my hopes up for destiny 2 based on some of the points you mentioned, because this game is by no means "bad", just needs... refinements, I guess

plus, I still don't understand how it was never on PC, let's be real

I have a lot of time in Destiny, I played ROI for a couple weeks, raided twice and put it away. The way Bungie has handled the game since launch has left me salty. Eververse, missing content, weapon balance, PR nonsense. Everyone knows the core gameplay is deceptively good but the RNG crates for money is anti consumer. Their "events" are more about pushing micro transactions then having new playable content. The paid DLC was worth the money but despite only the taken king being really good. Dark Below and House of Wolves wasn't very good story wise and ROI had a good raid but the story was weak once again. If they handle the content for Destiny 2 in a more consumer friendly way then I am in for sure. If they are launching this game in Sept 2017 do we expect this to be a Fallout 4 type announcement with the game being revealed at E3 and launch only months later?

Only if I suddenly gain real life friends that play this and Bungie/Activision decides to price the expansions appropriately..

So basically no.

ActivisionBlizzard's WoW loot RNG really wore me down. I'm not sure if I can stomach another loot grinder despite Bungie's signature excellent shooter feel.

Same. That shit eats you up and spits you out. No game has ever made me feel so freaking unlucky. Took me well over a year to get the last word as a drop and I happened to miss when it was on xur.

Great game though. Division has been a pretty fun distraction for me, but I'm not leveled enough to know about the RNG. I love the big open city though.

Yup. I'm ready.

I have a ton of fun playing it.

And while Id love a more fully realized world, if they crank out a few more awesome raids and guns, I'd be happy.

I'm ready for Destiny 2. Destiny was fun just playing and seeing what you get (I started playing after TKK came out), but now that my gf and I play all the time now, Destiny has become a new level of fun when you have someone to play with.

I got into Destiny day-one back then but the rng regarding rewards got me tired of it. I will not go day-one with destiny2 but if it is good who knows....

I'm so ready.

I feel I should clarify. I want the Destiny that we all thought we were getting in first time around. I want a bigger worlds, more stuff to do than just shoot things, and a story. Destiny feels great, but you can tell it's a husk of the original scope, and that makes me sad.

I'm really hoping Destiny 2 is everything I hoped Destiny was (it won't be, and I'll buy it anyway).

Barely had time to get into Battlefield One, haven't even launched TitanFall 2 yet, still addicted to Overwatch and Rocket league, grabbed FIFA 17 in the sale last week, so nope, not ready at all!.

Also, hopefully characters carry over at least on some form AND Bungie allows for platform switching. Currently on Xbox and gonna go PS/PC when Destiny 2 hits.

I still firmly believe Destiny will remain a unified client and "Destiny 2" or whatever major point release is called it is will be a patch that goes out to everyone. The current Destiny executable will cease to exist but we'll all go forward at the same time.

It makes no sense to dump all of the existing content out of the window when they're going back and retweaking even more of it in the last update. Also, it's well understood in MMOs that legacy content is a thing, so having it all there as the game proceeds isn't a negative or even dead weight. Plus it keeps the playerbase unified. They already did this in Taken King, where the OG Destiny content was put into Legacy Playlists and so on.

However, I don't think full platform switching is ever going to happen. First party politics. You CAN get special stuff on both platforms, ie if you have special shaders/engrams/whatever unlocked, they'll unlock on both PS and Xbox. I even have the preorder emblem and shader I got on my PS account on the 360, because they just unlock it account-wide.

Agreed, but I think that has more to do with how new content is integrated into those activities. For the hours and hours of entertainment I've gotten from the game, I've never thought twice about purchasing the expansions. I understand that we're not playing a true MMO, but the game is nothing like it was year one and is always evolving so I've always looked at it as if this is something I want to stay with and enjoy, it's just a fact that I'm going to have to purchase the expansions. What I don't agree with 100% is how they treated the last festival of the lost and how all that loot was locked behind a paywall (and for what I spent, I never even got what I wanted).

You have to believe this never came out on PC because of the agreement Activision made with Sony and the integrated push it had with the PS4. I mean us Xbox players are STILL without some of the exclusives which is unbelievable at this point.

I'll be there with you, OP. Although I am still playing the shit out of Destiny 1.

I wish I could get back into it but I just was passing on to many other good games after awhile, so I had to find a cut off point. But I always get tempted, crucible is one of the best match modes within the last 5 years or so. I mean Battlefield 1 takes the cake for me now but crucible is awesome

Destiny, for all its faults, is still my favorite game in years.

I love the art, design, gameplay, setting, and even the (previously barebones) story. The weird mix of sci-fi and fantasy. The fact that the enemies have pulpy, borderline insane names. The way the Vault of Glass gets meta and toys with the nature of repeatable content. No other game universe has consumed my thoughts in quite the same way.

The feeling of being a Guardian, a functionally immortal space crusader protecting the last sliver of humanity, is easily one of the coolest power fantasies and even feels like a mix between a few of my favorites (Chosen Undead + Halo Spartan + Jedi). Every action you take as your character, down to acting like a total goofball, is respected and acknowledged by the game's own universe.

Anyway, yeah. Destiny 2. I can't wait to see this series to the end.

I see where you're coming from, but I personally cannot justify that many expacs in under two years. At most, I got them on the cheap all the way up 'til TTK.
I'll wait for RoI to go on sale, if anything, before I try it out. :/

And really? Is that the reason? That's absolutely incredible, lol. Hopefully another thing to be fixed for Destiny 2.

Very mixed. I had fun with the first, but only put in 80-90 hours as I didn't like the PVP (just not a competive MP gamer anymore) and didn't get into raiding as it was too time consuming, too much hassle to find people (I did Vault of Glass and the Oryx one twice each, never did the Crota one or the newest one).

I was hoping for the campaign to be much meatier--something like Borderlands but in an epic, fantasy/scifi world. The sequel will have to live up to that for me to invest at launch. If it's more of the same I'll probably still buy as long as it's good, but I'll wait for deals and not get as invested in the DLC etc. as I did with the first as I didn't get my money's worth out of those other than TTK.

Same. Put so many hours into it but I'm staying away from the latest expansion because I'd rather just wait for D2, especially if they make a PC version this time around.

I am sure that I will play the hell out of Destiny 2 but I hope they do some different things with the Crucible or I will continue to get my competitive multiplayer elsewhere.

I think they need to seperate weapon balance from PVE to PVP. The changing of the meta after every balancing patch was just kinda crazy. There was always 1 weapon that was the best and you had to use it or you put yourself at a disadvantage.

Im ready for it once it launches next year. Right now I have a pile of games to play. Q1/Q2 next year looks to add to that pile so Ill be busy for a while.

That being said, Ill be there day 1. Destiny is probably my favorite new IP from this gen.

It's going to need some pretty core changes to movement and weapon handling for me to give the series another try.

  • Increase base movement speed.
  • Increase movement speed while ADS (preferably same as base).
  • Remove the accuracy penalty when hip firing, make it same as ADS.
  • Remove the accuracy penalty while hip firing mid air. It's stupid to punish mobility in a game that otherwise encourages it.
These design choices are archaic at this point, a relic from the now past COD era. Games like Overwatch and Halo 5 have shown that they're unnecessary.

And I think the Warlock glide and Titan jetpack need reworking. Maybe it's because I went Hunter with my first character, but both of those mobility options felt terrible to me.

Hahahaha wow cant believe people actually still want to buy another game from bungie after false promises ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9YoJjdEBv8 )

and microtransactions, people got scammed so hard and got a non story game which only got a little bit better after a paid expansion.

how come people give no mans sky shit for not delivering on promises but not for destiny?

I'm torn, I don't want to be there day one because of my experience with the first one. But I want to support my buddies working at Bungie. Hopefully the previews show some good changes.
