Im amazed no one talked about Recore amazing graphics!

It looks ok in places I guess. But I've just played Ratchet and Clank on Pro so.... yeah it ain't that impressive!

I'm sorry, what? It looks like a 360 title with neat sand effects and a higher resolution. Hardly a looker.

The art design is nice, though.

It has a good art design but some textures are absolutely horrific fuzzy messes.

I mean I really do love how it looks and it's probably my favorite graphics in terms of artistry this year but there is so much super rough about it.

The game kept reminding of Borderlands in terms of art style.

Its got a great art style but its bland landscapes and low res textures mean it cant be classed as having amazing graphics. Its a great game though and its gameplay trumps any graphics or resolution debate.

Maybe i shouldnt had used the term amazing and instead told it had great art style, im really digging the look, not terrible? Damm , guess im easily impressed:)

I don't know about other people, but to me, the game was one of a small handful which actually looked interesting to me aesthetically and gameplay-wise across all games revealed at both recent E3s.

The exclusivity is a deterrent.

Well, I'd have bought the game and maybe talked about its graphics if it was available on PC in a format that allows me to leverage the platform.

Quite unfortunate! Folks in the OT were indeed hoping that maybe Durante could fix this (see bottom of this post).

Going through it right now, 1440p with graphics max, and yeah there are times the game can actually look really, really good. It has some pretty rough spots though, and at least the early game the desert areas are just...well, just very yellow and brown with not a lot to it.

I've played Recore for a few hours now. Both on xb1 and PC (i5-2500k/r9 280x/ssd). In both situations I would say the visuals aren't impressive technically or stylistically. They aren't horrible but very average. It has some moments where some of the robots, explosions, and sand look nice but that's about it.

It is actually much more fun so far than I expected. But I notice reviews say the last part of the game is what drags it down.

I like the art style and all, but the graphics engine clearly fails the game a; AA method looks absolutely ragged.

Maybe the upcoming HDR patch will help it shine a little bit more.

Looks atrocious on XboxOne ...

thanks for the pics to state your argument OP.

Also the frame rate is pretty bad on XboxOne.

You mean the broken TSAA with shimmering or the FXAA?

:(

I wish you were able to help fix this game :'(

It isn't a technical marvel by any stretch, but I was quite taken by how it looked. I liked the world and character design a lot, and the game ran smoothly at 60fps downsampled on my somewhat modest gaming PC.

Sometimes the aesthetics of a game just click with you.

There are some neat lighting effects and art direction, but honestly, those graphics largely look like those you'd expect to find in a budget game. Glad you liked them OP, but I don't see it.

The lighting is really good, and the bots. Materials and environments as well. But the faces look below par, even for a PS360 game. And some animations look a bit rough.

It really can look very pretty at times, at least on PC.

I'd say it's an underrated game, but it does have it's issues.

I think "not terrible" would be exactly how I would describe it, too.

I definitely wouldn't use "amazing" in a way to describe ReCore's visuals. Maybe "serviceable?"
Yeah. Playing on Xbox, it looks fine when your standing still but as soon as you start moving the textures are blurred and overall not great looking. Which is a shame cuz you can see the devs put in some small cool details like Joule's tan and sunspots on her face.

Honestly after playing Rise of the Tomb Raider this game looks mediocre at best.

But I still hope this is getting a Steam release soon. After FH3 and GoW4 I don't want to deal with the MS store ever again.

There are some bits where it looks really pretty and then two minutes later there will be a moment where you clip through a rock face with PS2 level textures.

It's all about expectations. This was a $40 game on release developed by a pretty small studio whose highest-profile project was Batman: Blackgate. In that context, yeah, I think it's pretty dang impressive.

The prevailing sentiment that anything that doesn't have graphics that stand shoulder to shoulder with big AAA releases is 'disappointing' is exactly why B-tier games have dried up or been hacked into smaller-scope downloadable projects.

Agree. Some thoughts on this subject in the OT (here & the at the bottom of this post).

Im playing this right now and i think its one of the most beatiful games out there, dont remember seeing anything givin praise to that, i think more people should give a shot to the demo and see it, this game really fell of the radar, im loving the gameplay too.
It's art style is great and makes up for its shortcomings. But even on PC it looks like a mid budget title. And that's ok.

Just bought tonight and I'm wowed how good it is. I hope MS builds this into a main franchise. For a small scale, half priced unity game it looks and plays great.

Also reminds me... never take the general gaf advice lol every game that's hyped seems to be a let down and every game that gets trashed seems to be good.

Recore is the worst looking first party title this entire generation. It's looks bad and straight up unfinished at points. I mean this with no hyperbole, game just looks terrible.

Jesus, the game doesn't even look that bad as some people here are making it to be. People see some jagged pixels and then go batshit insane, holy shit. I'd really like to see some really unflattering pictures of this game, because until now it looks fine

I think that's the point people are making here. It looks just fine...nothing more. "Serviceable"
