Images of Tekken 6 (autumn 2009)

How many of those run at 60? If fighting games could get away running at 30, they would look a ton better.
So what if they don't run at 60. They have way more characters on screen, huge environments, tons more lighting, physics, shader effects etc.

2 Helghasts on screen and it can't run at 60fps?

Remove 58 characters from R2, and it can't run at 60?

GT5, 16 cars, 200K one car runs at 60fps, 1280x1080.

No, with 2 characters on screen it should run at 60 and look better than anything on the market by a country mile.

There are a few games out that run at 60FPS and will make ur jaw drop. Why is this just sooo boring?

So who here has played Tekken 6? Those shots are just...I don't know what the fuck they did with them but that doesn't look like the Tekken 6 I saw a few weeks ago. :lol Game looks beatufiul in motion. Jaggy free bitches!

Shows how much GAF knows about this game.

This game is the best looking fighter in motion, don't judge by these pathetic screens.

Damn, this has to be one of the worst aliasing this gen. Yuk.
These pics are (poorly) scaled to 1360x768 from, I'd imagine, 1280x720. That is why they appear so jaggy.

besides the jaggies, seems we are getting close to the tekken tag cgi vids. i give it one more generation...

even the guy in the background is facepalming at jaggies.

What the fuck @ fall 2009...

Are there any more 3d fighting games coming out in the meanwhile? SCIV is amazing but I doubt i'll still be playing it THAT much longer.

When I got them I re-sized them to 720p, didn't do much difference. Plus, it's not exactly 16:9 (but 1280x722), which is the same resolution the Virtua Tennis 3 Arcade images had. I guess these are from that version, as I said before. Most of the Arcade shots are released in 1360xXXX.
(I might be wrong though, maybe aspect ratio differ between arcade system boards, Tekken use Namco System 357)

Who would have thought a year ago, even 6 months ago that SF4 would come out b4 Tekken 6.

Wow Nacmo, you sure FFed up this series

Whats depressing is this series still hasn't eveolved past tekken 3 (imo). same game play, same models and the same move list.

Explain why the aliasing is so drastically different across the (same) pictures. Some places it is actually not bad, others horrible. If it was due to some scaling method, it would not have isolated out certain parts of the image.

If anyone has seen this game in motion, they'll know screens do NOT do this game justice.

100% hands down best looking 3D fighter this gen...
Im glad someone came in here and made sense. Its amazing in person, and everything fits like a glove. No wax figures, overbearing lighting, tech show bullshit...this game is truly beautiful. From the pieces in the background, to the light, to the animation, to the character models...it all fits perfectly together with no object overbearing the next.

Relax, the game is gorgeous when you actually play it.

Of all the genres, fighters have disappointed me the most this gen graphics-wise...
Just wait until Kof XII arrives.

The only possible explanation for those jaggies is that the game looks flawless in motion
Looks like someone scaled the images before they sent them out.

Right now they're at 1368x768.
I'm guessing they were originally 1280x720 before they were resized to 1368x768.

EDIT: Someone beat me. :(

I still think it will make a difference. These images are 1360x768, but that is clearly not the resolution this game is running at.

I'd imagine, in the end, the image quality will be rather similar to Soul Calibur IV.

Obviously I may look biased (points to avatar), but I am very much being real when I say this, and most things.

Tekken 6 is beautiful.

I'm lucky enough to have one in my city and the graphics/sound is just jaw dropping.

Hmmm...Third Strike has better animation than KOFXII. To be honest I had forgotten about SF4, that looks nice enough.
Check the new footage, the TGS build sucks compared to this .
The gameplay is faster and the animation is smoother. Also Clark was announced so im happy as a bunny.

And yet they're nowhere near as fun.

Uhuh, which is why they run at 30. Certainly fighting games can look better than they currently do, but don't expect them to look like CG on current console hardware.

I bet it still plays exactly the same too :/ Tekken needs a reboot.
This.

Unlike Virtua Fighter, Tekken 5 had been a bore fest since it does absolutely nothing in terms of polishing or deepening the game's mechanics.

Tekken 4 had the right idea, but they messed up the execution really badly.

And right now I see absolutely no difference between Tekken 5 and Tekken 6.

It makes a difference, just like when you resize any kind of image, but the game is still jaggy. And converted, they are 1280x722. Anyway, I re-sized them in the topic since it's such a unlogical resolution.

these are just bad screens people... tekken 6 is one of ... if not... the best looking 3D fighter... over doa 4, sciv and vf5

VIDEOS :)

Is all about the gameplay guys, im a huge Tekken fana and cannot wait to play this.

Btw Paul really needs a lookchange.

are the people saying its the best looking 3d fighter talking about the arcade version?

is the arcade machine more powerful than the consoles?

i can imagine how the characters might look better in motion if the lighting and the animation is good but those backgrounds are terrible

It's an arcade game dammit. Last I checked Namco wasn't handed $50 million and 3 to 5 years worth of dev time to make Tekken 6.

AA definitely costs $50 million and takes 3-5 years to implement.
