ImportGAF: What games have you imported?

I haven't imported that much, especially compared to some of the very impressive posts in this thread. There are quite few things I have my eye on, but prices are so high and my backlog is so immense that I can't really justify it unless I really, really want the game.

GBA
Mother 3

DS
Ouendan
Ouendan2
Game Center CX 2
Last Window (EU)
Some kanji dictionary
Ouendan and Ouendan 2 again as gifts

PSP
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva

Wii
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom
Xenoblade (EU)

A short list, but it's something.

Gamecube
Naruto GNT3

DS
Bleach DS Sōten ni Kakeru Unmei

PSP
DJ Max Portable

Xbox 360
Mushihimesama Futari
Espgaluda II

Also, a Hori Fight Stick 2 for PS2.

DJ Max received far more playtime(at least one shitload) than anything else(though the Cave stuff is more recent). Even though some of those were eventually released here, I put a lot of time into all of those, so no regrets.

EDIT: I borrowed a copy of Ouendan from a friend. Don't want anyone thinking I'm retarded. Also, Band Brothers would've been import worthy if the download play wasn't so damn good. What an awesome game. It's a shame it wasn't released here.

Mostly just those anime games, jojo's bizarre adventure (the one with GioGio), cyber formula gpx, initial d on the ps2, I imported bayonetta too for the ps3 (lol).

I've got quite a few imports. First I gotta thank the publishers since I wouldn't need to import and post about them here if it wasn't for them.

Yeah same, that's how I got DBZ HD. . . Saw a ad for it in the back of a Gamepro. It worked out :O I was one excited kid.

The best (i.e. not really best) thing was paying a premium for a Japanese game which turned out to be the (unknown to me at the time) cheaper Asian/HK release!

There was also an import shop near me, which I think sells exclusively bootleg anime these days, which had games for decent-ish prices. I remember going in to buy a US copy of Parasite Eve and persuading the owner to sell me his copy :p

I just remembered that the most I paid for an import non Neo-Geo title was about 27500 yen for Panorama Cotton on the Mega Drive. Wound up selling it off later on for $325 online.

My first trip to Tokyo was in 2001. I wound up buying 50+ games in Aki. O_o

How the hell did y'all import games back in the 90s before we had the internet? :O

Magazines like EGM and Die Hard Gamefan had ads for mail order stores selling import games. I remember a friend calling up to order something from one of them; I'd asked him to include a Neo-Geo CD game in the order, and he told me that the guy wouldn't sell him the game because "it sucks and you can do better." Head-scratcher.

There were also local stores that sold imports too.

I think NCSX popped up online in 1996. Not sure if anyone was around earlier.

I don't know other places but over Spain and France (still in France) there were many gaming stores or rental gaming shops (I miss gold times Radikal Jokers :P) not attached to a big name franchises that sold many imported games, specially anime related games more thank you to Dragon Ball/Akira explosion phenomenon (1989-1998).

There were several stores that sold import games around here (Microplay was one name that comes to mind), but mostly it was mail order from the back of magazines. Die Hard and their super-overinflated prices for games! My first few imports were used, loose copies of FF5, DQ5 and SD3 from Japanvideogames.

Anyone know where the most reliable/cheapest place to import a PlayStation Vita would be (to the UK)?

I'm thinking PlayAsia right now, anywhere else?

I have mostly imported Dragon Quest and/or Pokemon games. I mostly use NCSX which has been very good with me as well as Play-Asia.

I began importing in 2004 when Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green were released in Japan. The screenshots and movies looked amazing and I knew I couldn't pass it up. I then followed up with Pokemon Emerald for similar reasons. Then Dragon Quest VIII was released which was and still is the most amazing game I ever played. Pokemon XD followed in 2005, Pokemon Platinum in 2008, Dragon Quest IX in 2009, and now we arrive at today.

I wonder if I am alone in wanting to import Dragon Quest X and wonder who will play it online and can you if you live somewhere other than Japan.
