What do you guys like about your PSP

How you put videos on it? Do they have to be UMD or can they be from the iPod store?

What GAMES are good for the PSP? Past, present, future.

I'm determined to use this damn thing.

The games.

I don't want to be "that guy", but seriously, this thread has been done to hell and back. Either way, some of my favorite games:

LocoRoco 2
Valkyrie Profile Lenneth
Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions

God of War: Chains of Olympus
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (not +)

Many more awesome games, but those are basically what I got my PSP for

As a follow-up to the recently completed Chrono Trigger DS, I started up a Chrono Cross play-through on mine. I mix it up with some Everyday Shooter PSP and Wipeout Pulse.

Hey awesome reply thanks!

What OP says in his post...... Yeah, i'm in the same boat too. Just got a PSP 3000 series bundled with Rachet & Clank, NT movie and a echocrome vocher card for x-mas.

Where do you Gaffers get your free videos from the net? Know any sites i could check out.

I'm thinking about purchasing Media Manager at Target for $20 bucks. << is that any good or there a better program than that one i listed.

My PSP is pretty much just a DJ Max Portable machine. I shuffle through all 4 games, and on occasion connect to my PS3 to stream some content over if it's easier at the time to watch something that way.

If you have a PS3 I would strongly recommend you download SD movies and transfer to your PSP via purchase or rental. The SD videos look great on the PSP display, but you will need a larger memory stick to handle the file size.

Also, the following games are great titles:

God of War: Chains of Olympus
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
Tomb Raider Legend
Silent Hill: Origins
Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
Killzone Liberation
FF Crisis Core
Super Stardust
Echocrome
Lumines

If you don't enjoy any of those titles put your PSP on ebay...

Complete waste of money. Download the "PlayStation Store PC" application and it gives you a media manager to use for your PSP. And actually putting music/movies/pictures on your PSP is crazy easy - there's no need for an actual media manager. Download this: http://www.download3k.com/Install-PSPVC-PSP-Video-Converter.html to convert your movies into MP4/PSP video files. And just drag and move music and picture files to your memory stick. It's stupidly easy - don't spend a dime on a media manager.

As far as games, that's way too broad - what kind of games do you like?

If I had to recommend games off the top of my head I would go: Syphon Filter Dark Mirror and Logan's Shadown (both can be downloaded from PSN Store), Jeanne D'Arc (also on PSN), Mega Man Powered Up, and DJ Max Fever (coming this month)

This baby is all I need for 2009:

Oh, and as far as upcoming games are concerned...

Star Ocean Second Departure (tri-Ace Action RPG)
Final Fantasy Agito XIII (Square-Enix RPG)
Final Fantasy Dissidia (Square-Enix Fighting RPG)
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep (Square-Enix Action RPG)
Phantasy Star Portable (Sega Multiplayer RPG)
LocoRoco 2 (out now in Europe) (Sony Platforming Collect-a-thon)
Patapon 2 (Sony Rhythm RTS)
Resistance Retribution (Sony Third Person Shooter)
Pixeljunk Monsters (Sony Defence Force)
Disaster Report 3 (Irem Survival Action)
Cardboard Senki (Level 5 RPG)
Ushiro (Level 5 RPG)

Hope you like RPGs.

I've been feeling the same way. In the past few weeks I've uploaded videos and music, and make sure to visit the PSN store. I trying hard to like it again.

Thanks for the tip. And don't worry about the games since i've been following what Gaffers like and i experiment to try out to see what i like and don't like.

May as well throw it into this thread... anyone know good deals on memory cards for this in the UK? I've been on my 32mb since launch day (I'm serious!). Is there anything I need to be wary of? I don't think I'd particularly care about transfer times, so should I just go for the cheaper is better approach?

I go through moments of alternating between PSP and DS. Right now I am on a PSP binge. Been playing Jeanne DArc, Killzone Liberation, Super Stardust Portable, and recently got a GBA emulator and playing through some old classics.

Just find new games that you haven't tried yet when things get stale. The PSP library is HUGE and there's so much stuff out there. Be willing to try new genres and see what you may like. Another great addition is PUZZLE QUEST CHALLENGE OF THE WARLORDS. Honestly, I hate puzzle games, but I LOVE Puzzle Quest. It's an awesome RPG/Puzzle hybrid game. But that's what you got to do.

People bitch about PSP's library, and honestly I just think that if you can't find something to play on PSP you just are not trying or willing to try new things. It has a GREAT library of games.

Word on the street is that Sandisk memory cards have better transfer than official Sony ones. You should be able to find dirt cheap memory cards on eBay, BUT they often have a little bit less storage space and long transfer times.

For example, I had a legit Sandisk 2GB and just for examples sake, after formatting it had about 1.98 GB available to use. Then at one point I also had a memory card that I had purchased off of eBay, and after formatting it had about 1.80 GB memory available. And the transfer time on the eBay memory card was noticeably longer. But I remember at the time it was A LOT cheaper (like $20 vs $50) than a legit one - and slightly less memory space and transfer time was worth saving money to me. But I've also heard horror stories about eBay memory cards about them deleting all data and going corrupt or whatever. Hasn't happened to me personally, but stories are out there.

So I would recommend Sandisk as the "best" brand. But if you're willing to save money you can cut corners and buy something else and the transfer times and space freed after format can be negligible to you.

You might as well sell it. If you've owned a PSP for a while now, whilst regularly posting here and not knowing what games to play at all. Obviously the PSP ain't appealing to you.

I bought a PSP at launch and mainly did the underground kind of things with it. Nothing illegal: nothing I hadn't already owned. But I downloaded Doom PSP and put some SNES games on it, etc. Then a few months later when I got sick of waiting for them to break firmware code, I sold my PSP.

Two years later, after buying a new PSP and checking out Dark Alex's site, I'm completely fucking confused as to what is going on lately.

So I guess the custom shit is out of my old man's hands now. I'm playing a daily dose of Pirates! anyway. :D
