I got that one right away. I don't think that ever aired a second time.

It's unthinkable they got away with broadcasting their Super Bowl half-time edition on live television back in the day:

Men on Football

They kind of didn't get away with it though. FOX came down on them hard after that and censored them aggressively.

It got worse when the censored drunk/date rape skit was "accidentally" aired. This all lead to the Wayans starting to leave the show. Although Damon was doing the movies as well.

Fox didn't come to Canada until the mid/late-90s so I think I basically missed out on this show in its prime. I've seen a few re-runs and YouTube clips since then.

"James" Carrey lol. Right up there with "Larry" Fishburne.

One of the best sketch comedy shows ever. Watching the reruns now as an adult, I still can't believe they got away with as much as they did.

I remember watching this pretty often with the family, despite being pretty young. 'Homie don't play that' was oft heard on the playgrounds, so I obviously wasn't the only one.

My Direct TV info screen had this to say about it:

"Black People Show"
lmao

I used to love watching it back in the day. My cousin used to record all of the episodes and we'd watch them any chance we got. I wonder if he still has them.

Yall taking me back!

Another cool thing about this show was that one of the writers of the show was Larry Wilmore who became a cast member in the final season (He played black Archie Bunker). Of course we now know him as the host of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore.

Woodchuck to Gray Squirrel...

This show was one of the absolute best. I think I preferred it to SNL during the early 90s, which was godly in its own way.

I tried to teach my 3 year old to say Homey Don't Play That whenever she doesn't want to do something but it didn't stick haha.

Best sketch show of all time when it was in its prime. Fox was absolutely obliterating everyone else back in 1990.

School was crazy during those years. Between B-B Butcher, Punch Buggy and "Homie don't play dat! (followed by a slap on the head)" we were constantly wailing on one another just about all day; before, during AND after school.

Yeah plus back in that era our parents gave less than zero fucks what we watched on TV haha. This and Married with Children were prime time shows that middle schoolers were watching haha.

Besides its humor, In Living Color was also ahead of its time - one of the first comedy sketch shows I can remember that had an Asian-American cast member (Steve Park), the other being MadTV (with Bobby Lee) - even though SNL has been running for over forty years, I think the only Asian-heritage cast members they've had are Fred Armisen, who's part Japanese, and Rob Schneider(!), who's part Filipino.

Fun fact: Steve Park eventually ended up marrying castmate Kelly Coffield, and they had kids and moved to Brooklyn:
