Beneath a Steel Sky - I have very fond memories of that game, I still keep my PC copy of it.. black box, comic book, 7 floppies :)

Most people never realized that this is actually a Judge Dredd adventure.. It had a brilliant plot, incredible atmosphere and the ending was just wow. I think Flight of the Amazon Queen was by the same studio, as was Prisoner of Ice, no? They also made Lure of the Temptress which was all kinds of excellent. Revolution Games? My memory fails me..

Stay Vigilant!
I actually just started playing this game a couple days ago and i love it so much, it's like the first adventure game that i've spent more than an hour with. without spoiling the story, what do you mean when you say it's a judge dredd adventure? it the main character actually judge dredd or something?

Nono, it takes place in the Judge Dredd setting/world, that's all :)

NO!!
It's FREE!!

Plus there is a MOD for it called "True Combat: Elite"
Kickass MOD, it's a super realistic CS type game.
(No crosshair, you need to use ironsight to get a good shot.)

holy shit TYRIAN!

I played that game to death as kid, but I forgot the name.

Now I know again, thanks to tha magic of GAF

PC has no games :lol

Bang! Howdy

Bang! Howdy is an online strategy game that is in free beta now. It is kind of a hybrid between a RTS and TBS game. It's sort of hard to explain, but it is pretty fun.

PC Freeware Gaming sucks...
except cave story that was created by divine intervention... how the hell a single man could do something so awesome is beyond me

Kinda ot but Im downloading the System Shock 2 demo as we speak(thanks Gamespot).
I actually tried to do this a year or two back but it wouldn't run on my XP system at that time(this new one runs XP aswell). Do I need a special program to run it?

I don't know about the demo but the game complained about needing Windows 2000 to install and there was some kind of a patch to install it, I believe.

Or was that Homeworld..

Either way, Google is your friend.

That reminds me I should install Homeworld when I get home and run it at 1600x1200 6xAA 16xAF and mmmmmmmmmmmmmmjoy :)

Ragdoll Masters
Technically it's not free, it's shareware. But it's hella fun and addictive. You control the dudes head...area and spin around using the laws of weird physics to smack your opponents around. Equal parts skill and luck I reckon. You can throw you own soundtrack in if you want to.

Thats so fun, thanks man.

Graphic adventure games are back!

5 Days a Stranger presents you the adventures of Trilby, a skillful burglar who thought have hitted a jackpot when discovering the vacant DeFoe mansion but was in for the scare of his life:

I second this game. I tried this after reading about this game on same random adventure game forum. It doesn't look like much, but it is very good.

I don't know how many people are into straight text adventure games, but there are a ton of free ones. If you appreciate completely story driven games you should try one: If (Interactive Fiction) Archive

Hmm, I'm gonna try mono. (Damn this thread for making me take a break from my Chrono Trigger marathon :p)

Head Over Heels looks cool, too.

Wanted to post Soldat, Tyrian and Warning Forever... but... beaten....Okay, so I post this:

Action Supercross, Elasto Mania. It is more a puzzle and balance game than a racer. Collect all apples and find the flower to finish the level. Master the physics, avoid hazards and do crazy stunts! Great game with leveleditor, demorecording and all! (Shareware tho :/)

And another fun, little Strategygame:

Crimson Land (Demo). Wow, very good Actiongame with loads of weapons and unique powers. Survive!

Well, free PC games just mean Hidden & Dangerous

This classis tactical shooter started the rise of other tactical shooters, team-based shooters and learned that driving vehicles can be fun in missions, let co-op relive and all of that for free. It's also the game with the most bugs ever, but now most of them are fixed. What do you get with this release?

- Hidden and Dangerous
- The expansion pack
- The Map Editor
- Graphical makeover

BRILLIANT.

AWESOME thread. Cave Story and rRootage were already mentioned so it's got my 100% approval.

Seiklus

Gonna mention this game because its by an old acquaintance of mine. He actually wanted me to do an interview for him as a former ZZT user. Its a surreal platformer with a cool art style.

Ocular Ink

A game with cel-shaded graphics where you play as an eye who can shoot paint, using mouse gestures. This game NEEDS to be ported to the DS as fast as possible.

Eh yeah, but where do you download it?

And another thing, that GTA version never really works on my comp, it either runs way too fast or slow. Anyone have a solution for this?

Lode Runner: The Legend Returns/Mad Monks' Revenge is a great example of how to update a classic and add a lot to it while still preserving the spirit of the original. A great puzzle game with plenty of variety. The lead programmer released it as freeware. But I reccommend downloading it here, because this mirror has the great music:

There are plenty of levels for download, too. I reccommend the "overlode" series.

OH MAN!
THIS FUCKING ROCKS
Used to own a .pzl file with my selfmade levels, lets find it
